What does the next-gen format mean to you?

Xbox360:

DVD (9 gigs dual layer)

PS3:

Blu Ray (100 gigs dual layer)

Rev:

im guessing DVD

I really fear that the 360's DVD format just won't suffice for next gen. I'm so excited about all this bonus content and hi fockin res shiznat we're gonna get with Blu Ray.

You mean more prerendered cutscenes, no thanks.

...

no. i mean bonus content.

like with God of War.

More levels, more play modes, behind the scenes stuff, soundtracks, anything they can cram.
Kojima said he wanted to put more stuff in MGS3, but couldnt fit it all on one DVD.

Blu-Ray is 50 gigs, dual-layered.

Rockstar has said they are very excited that PS3 has BR and plan to utilize the space, and as a R* whore, that makes me happy. (R* whore, but smart enough not to buy SoE)

Now, Leeds just has to put out GTA PSP and I will never have to leave the house.

Umm, I think your Blu Ray total is a little high. :D It's like 50 gigs dual layered.

Next gen will have less pre rendered cut scenes. No need for them. So much space will be saved in games. I would prefer a little bigger storage space but I can live with DVD.

megs? :lol

i recently read something that said its 100 (im pretty sure this was in response to HD-DVD going to 45 dual layered)

i'll look for the article.

gamaes wont be much longer. Games are costing more and more to make and are still selling for the same $50 price tag (at least right now anyway).

One 4.7 DVD, that is....

I don't know. I think 9 gig per disc is big enough for this generation. They can always go for multiple copies, as long as it's not such frequent thing. I just don't see any game would require 10+ gigs at one loading. ;)

Something interesting I only read about a couple months ago is with bigger disc formats, devs can put duplicate files of data in different parts of the disc to optimize load times, so even smaller games should benefit.

The more seamless stream-loading, the better.
