would you kindly not ask questions with such obvious answers

Also Bruce Wayne

if he would just shoot the joker, he would do more good with that one action than he has accomplished in 80 years of comic book, tv, movie and videogame history.

Obviously Ryan. Both men are ruthless visionaries, but only Ryan was dragged back down to reality and became what he hated in a vain attempt to protect his creation. By then, there was no point to it. Mr. House's plans are cold but carefully deliberated to achieve the best, possible, long-term outcome. Say what you will about the feasibility of his strategy, but the purity of his intentions never became diluted.

Having not played NV, what does Mr House do that's actually evil?

Directly? Nothing really. He tasks the player with eliminating or pitting opposing factions against each other to clear the way for his plans for New Vegas, but these are all in-service of his strategy to restore civilization after the fallout, plans which he details for you even down to milestones by year. The subtle hints from the storytelling that he may not be the perfect savior for humanity he believes himself to be, aside from his cold and calculating demeanor (and his failure at stopping nuclear winter to begin with which to his credit he does try to explain), are that he's a man living in a literal ivory tower, unable to see and interact with the outside world. He can gather information from his many security bots in the New Vegas strip and wastelands, but he's not living with other people. Dude's in a cryochamber, maximizing his lifespan so he can oversee the restoration personally.

None would be as evil as the ones in real life. In fact, most were nice guys comparatively.

Yeah :( We live in the stupidest timeline. You don't even have to hide you're evil.

House is not evil (though I am sure the TV show will make him).

Andrew Ryan's vision got fucked by unpredictable discovery of superpowers, not exactly his fault either.

Aren't these guys from the 50s-60s? At that point being a multimillionaire (adjusted to inflation) would be a billionaire equivalent of today.

Technically Ryan's vision was clouded, because he failed to consider the cons of Human Nature.
Without regulation, individuals will usually try to do what they believe will benefit themselves, without regards to others, which was Raptures downfall.

What did House do that was so wrong.

1. He became rich.
2. He correctly and accurately predicted the war and how the Vault system was flawed.
3. He set up a system to protect his home from nuclear weapons, which worked. Meaning that a lot of building and infrastructure around Vegas and Hoover Dam were intact.
4. Later he tried to stop corrupt savages from destroying what little he managed to preserve. His "evil plan" was to revive a scientifically capable society to restore prosperity to the planet while not wanting to control how people live.

On the other hand Ryan was just a total bell end.

Andrew Ryan was a sad man who tried really hard to realize a beautiful dream, and lost his marbles because it fell apart horrifically.

House was a jerk.

Also, Bill Gates is literally more evil than both of them, and more so than many, if not all, fictional billionaires.

Ryan for me, House wasn't evil imo, just manipulative and controlling but he did save New Vegas, well in the game anyway, Ryan was playing god and Rapture was a mess in the end and they both killed people, but at least House did it after the armagedon lol.
