What game are you currently playing?

Finished Symphonia (platformer, not ToS). I have a real hate-love relationship with it. The stats show that I died 1000 times in my 7 hour play-through and I'm pretty sure at least 1/3 of those death were because of so-so controls. Despite that, I really felt like I need to finish it and I guess that means that on a more fundamental level I really like the challenge and its artsyle and music.

Spray Paint Simulator. I gave up on it when it first came out on GP, mostly because you needed to find every tiny unpainted pixel to be able to finish the job, but I found out it has a difficulty setting and I adjusted it to more or less how Powerwash Sim worked. It really helped. Just so relaxing. The bridge level took me ages.

Red Dead Redemption (1) missions: John meets a kooky character who he needs something from, kooky character won't help until John helps him first. Kooky character acts weird and/or crazy and John is unimpressed and either mocks or threatens them. They ride horses together to a place while having more similar dialogue. John shoots all the bad guys at the place and then the mission is over.

This is the entire game.

Holy shit this WWE 2K25 game is kinda insane, they added full inter-gender match variety, something I don't think they've done in a decade or so.

With few exceptions (the tutorial with Bonnie and her dad and Landon Ricketts in Mexico is kooky even if his missions follow that description). RDR, along with GTAIV, came at a time when Rockstar was trying to evolve their sophomoric humor and could just never find their feet firm on the ground. I think the perfect example of this in RDR, is the stranger mission when you help an old man pick flowers for his wife and we he asks you to meet her, she turns out to be long dead and the husbands delusions are played for laughs. That always rubbed me wrong when I first played it and that has changed for the handful of playthroughs I've done since then. I'd also amend the "ride horses" part of your description to "ride horses endlessly" as if you don't skip to the target location after starting a mission, you can exhaust the belabored dialog sequences and still have 5-10 more minutes of a ride to get to where you are going.

Mafia: Definitive Edition
My first Mafia game. Wasn't sure what to expect really. Can't say I'm a huge fan of mafia type content in general in any media form. Anyway, I've played a few hours and I'm really enjoying it. I think I'm enjoying it a lot because it seems different, with what I said earlier about not being too familiar with mafia type stuff. The setting and time period are probably my favourite thing about it, that and the characters. Gameplay is pretty much the same as other games of its type. Managed to win the race (not sure if you can lose?) and now I'm currently walking Sarah home.

Have quite a few games on the go for once. Normally tend to stick with one.

Still making my way through Hogwarts Legacy. I'm enjoying it but am taking it a slow pace, really absorbing in everything, exploring everywhere - collecting all field quest guides etc. Probably not even that far in but already have 7 hours play time just through mostly exploration.

Started playing the OG Jak and Daxter on PS Plus too. Again, collecting everything and have put a good few hours in (already have 27% completion). What a throwback, holds up very well imo.

On the switch I've got back into Mario Sunshine and am slowly making headway so I can finally play Galaxy and I've just tonight jumped back into Warzone for the first time in 3 years with my brother and a friend. Also have a disc drive on the way for my pro so will be finishing up Kingdom Hearts 2 in and amongst all the others also.

Started Flintlock the Siege of Dawn to kill time before some games release later this week. It's meh. World traversal is pretty cool, but combat blows and there's not much to it.

Chapter 6 in Visions of Mana. It's so damn good. It harkens back to the glory days of jrpg, the days where you lost track of time because you couldn't stop playing. It's a grand adventure, bright and beautiful, real time combat that is fun as hell, with whimsy characters you actually like and want to spend time with. The world is fun to explore, it's so beautiful you just want run around looking at the environments, with loot and chests all over the place. The story is a classic tale with lots of genre cliches but it is full of fun twists and turns and it's presented in a light-hearted way that not only reminds me of past Mana games but also of adventures such as Grandia and Tales of Symphonia, which are two favorites of mine in the jrpg genre. Can't wait to play more!

Tears of the Kingdom. It's a perfect game to play an hour here and there. Some times I just walk up to a mountain top or go check out something that looks suspicious. I've been tired lately so this bitesize type of gaming which doesn't require 2-3 hour sessions fits me perfectly.

I had it on Gamepass, it is border line ok, but after you've completed it there isn't much point to go into the "free-roam" mode...It was my first Mafia game too, but I don't regret not looking at it when it first released, and not jumping onto it when it did come to Gamepass..(also could be because I've never been into 40's gangster type games...)

I'll probably have to resort to a guide soon, but I'm 8 P-Switch Challenges and 53 Peach Coins away from finding everything.

I've somehow managed to have 3 hardish games going at once.

The Mummy Demastered: It's a run 'n gun metroidvania and i need a powerup to make this jump and i dont feel like backtracking looking forever especially since ive explored the whole map already.

Edit: I finished the game. Turns out there was no powerup i needed. I got to a part where you have to monkey bar on the ceiling like 5h in. It was part of the tutorial but you literally never have to use that skill til thay moment. Lol. Still traversing rhe map got me all the health and weapon max upgrades i needed to beat the final boss.

Hollow Knight: I'm where you fight the girl thing and she's kicking my butt. I have to just "get gud"

Garlic: It's a fun game but i get burned out pretty quickly with it. I definitely want to finish it

Bonus:

The Plucky Squire. I played the first hour but I don't think this game is for me.

I think I need to go back to my Donkey Kong Country SNES series plan.

Just killin time til Bananza gets here from gamefly next week.

Finished up Xenoblade Chronicles DE and have the urge to jump into Xeno 2, but I know if I do I'll probably burn out before I finish it. I do have a very early game save with KOS-MOS as a Blade so I'll definitely be continuing from that save when I jump back into the game.

Messing around with Death Stranding 2, Fantasy Life (on Steam), and BOTW while waiting for DK to come out later this week.

Probably going to play something via emulation too. Either Digital Devil Saga or Radiant Historia. Can't decide which. Any opinions?

Yeah, it's a lot to take in. Have booted it up a couple of times, that UI feels like a endboss. 😅 People are singing it's praises, but I'm holding off until 1.0. Going to be a time-sink that's for sure.
It really does! I just spent fifteen minutes trying to get a councilor just to do the 1st mission, to do anything..!

I'll have another go at the weekend when I'm back on the PC.

Decided to go back to atelier ryza 3 and finish it up before I really get into death stranding 2. The final boss was a bit difficult at first, but after I synthesized some better gear I was finally able to beat it. With that, I've beaten the entire ryza trilogy.

I can see why some people may not like it. There's nothing particularly amazing about it, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit. Perhaps because I haven't played a game of this genre for a while.

Forza Horizon 4 on Xbox One X.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed on PS Vita OLED.

F-Zero GX via NSO on Switch 2. (input lag sucks tho.)

Cruis'n Blast (SW1) on Switch 2.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds pre-ordered.

Love arcade racing games.

Like... the first fight with Hornet less than an hour in?

Yes. >_<

I'll get back to it and get better.

In other news I just beat Metroidvania with no map Beholgar. It can be beaten in 4 hours or so but I took a while longer. Went around in circles for an hour and didn't notice a door I had to enter... a few of the boss fights are pretty tough and just some of the traversing you have to do. The "finish the game" achievement is 15% on Steam.

Just installing Mafia 1 The Definitive Edition, I'm giving the game another try the first time i've played it i didn't like it. The shooting was off and they have changed the look of the characters.
Lets hope this time i will like it.

working on my backlog, i finished Remember Me (fun challenge on high difficulty) and Alice Madness Returns (the second half of this game was disappointing imho)
Now i want to start and finish A Plague Tale (the first one) in few days.

When I'm done Donkey Kong I am gonna be stocked up on Metroidvanias. I just picked up Shadow Labyrinth, The Devil Within Satgat. Next month is Elypse, TouHou Luna Nights, Ultros. Gonna be loaded up for the rest of the year. The fall is when I typically burn through my Metroidvanias.

It maybe good, but it isn't Sleeping Dogs good

Been playing Rimwold + the recently released DLC, Odyssey.

It's really great. I always liked the base game but had the feel that the endgame was kinda boring compared to the first stages. With Odyssey, once you have your colony set up and almost automatized, you can build a ship and go adventuring around the planet, which is cool since the dlc also adds new biomes and tons of locations to explore and loot, like ruined cities, silos and so on.

Mafia: Definitive Edition
Finished it and rather enjoyed it. I think the word 'solid' is pretty much spot on here. Nothing stands out, but there's nothing bad about it either .

Onto either GTAV or Sleeping Dogs next.

Finished The Callisto Protocols expansion The Final Transmission. A bite sized expansion of about 2 hours that adds more story content and conclusions to the main game, which kinda left on a cliffhanger. Not as good as the main game, lot of reused areas and monsters but you get a cool ass weapon and the final boss is pretty cool too, at least from a design and lore perspective. And the ending is pretty good, although pretty sad and horrifying.
