What game are you currently playing?

Half a year ago me and my friend started playing The Rise of the Golden Idol (it is not a co-op game: we just play at the same time while talking via Facetime) after loving The Case of the Golden Idol. Maybe we were a bit burned out or maybe it just didn't feel as weird and fascinating as the first game, but we kind of put aside. Started playing again yesterday and you know, it still fun especially in the second chapter when the game starts to put all the puzzle pieces together.

Just got all the additional levels/trophies for the last Astro Bot level drop. Was awesome, much better than the last one. Loved the last level. Quite hard (for me at least) but getting a bit further with each try was quite fun.

During the Xbox mega-sale taking place at the moment, I decided to purchase Sleeping Dogs, Cyberpunk, and the Telltale Batman series at the cut-price they are going for, long way off though before I get play them, but I thought especially with Sleeping Dogs being at such a low-cut price, it's worth buying!

Sleepy Dawgs is also FPS boosted, so you're playing the best console version by default. Plus the XBO/PS4 version included all the DLC.

ffs Blizzard can't just fix Warcraft III Reforged. That sucks so much, i'm in the mood for playing Warcraft 3 but appearently Reforge still sucks ass 5 years after release.
I just can't understand why they would treat their masterpiece such badly? Yeah i know new Blizzard is not old Blizzard but still.

nobody at Blizzard gives a shit anymore

Hollow Knight
Still dabbling with it to get a higher completion rate, up at 105% now. Found the last grub today and filled the last charm spot. Then just 1000 more geo to transfer Fragile Greed to Unbreakable Greed, easy peasy, then I can get rid of the Grimm circus. After that off to get Salubra's Blessing!
Then I have 22 more dream essence to reach 2400 for the Seer. And a couple more enemies for hunter's journal. I still have mr mushroom's stuff to do as well.
Love this game so much! Top 5 all-time

Finished FF7 Rebirth, that last battle was asbolutely pointless, too long and Sephiroth is cheated, it's not even fun

Holy shit, Grounded 2 looks fantastic. I always liked the way Grounded 1 looked but this is noticeable improvement, especially when it comes to depth of field and lighting. Still, gonna dig deep into it when 1.0 drops. But I'm excited. Not so much excited about roaches. Yuck:)

Spent lazy summer days in the shade on the porch with Skies of Arcadia, what a blast. Still playing Front Mission 3, tuning Mechs never gets old. 😁

Seems like we're getting at least a week of rainy weather so I've downloaded Mud Runner to give it a whirl, got it for super cheap so no loss if it turns out to not be my kind of thing.

Still playing Stronghold Definitive Edition - Its really tricky on Normal difficutly but managable. Still i have to restart the missions a few times until i get the strategy to winning it. But i like that makes you think about the mission more intensive.
I'm on mission 11 right now.

End credits rolling on Rayman Legends. Not as good as Origins, it's a step down, but even so, it's still a very very good platformer. It's so much fun bouncing around the levels and collecting Lumens. Ubi has crafted some very cool looking levels for sure, and some plays like a dream. And for me that enjoyed Origins more, I was surprised to see that Ubi had included most of the levels from there into Legends. So yeah, you can definitely say this is the Definitive edition. Damn, I miss Rayman. He needs to make a comeback soon.

So now I am playing the Shadow of War DLC.

I would say it's really just ok but I do appreciate that there was an attempt to mix it up on gameplay and not just reskinning Talion.

Not sure if making Desolation of Mordor a roguelike was a good idea tho. Still playing that one. I think they made Baranor a little too OP to make up for the permadeath.

Cool, thanks for reminding me of Rayman Legends i have it in my steam account, gonna install it for sure.
But as far as i remember it has a good chunk of Rayman Origins levels included, right?

Yeah, most of the levels from Origins are included. Some stages are reworked but most are intact from the original. It's a real treat Ubi included them.

Are there any levels you miss from Origins that are not in Legends?

I don't remember all of the levels from Origins, haven't played it in a while. But it was sufficient in Legends. It felt like Ubi included the best ones at least. And with all the original content in Legends it makes up for whatever levels from Origins they didn't include.

I tried the Star Wars Outlaws demo, and I understand the criticism now. The game looks ugly in quality mode, the main character is just a random human with a gun who needs to find Bryosudtu (randomnly generated name) for whatever reason, the gunplay isn't good nor the story seems interesting.

And something is definitely wrong with her face animation, sometime she seems to not have teeth at all like old people.

Been farting around 2018 and GOW Ragnarok on the PrOLED. I only ever played through it at release, thought it was way too bloated towards the end, and wound up not getting the platinum (despite having it for 2018).

This is definitely the "Did I really dislike this this much?" run, because so far I'm having a great time. I forgot how satisfying and solid the combat is :messenger_grinning: 👍

Currently back to The First Descendant. Think I reached endgame just now.

Was playing Diablo 4, but got all my gear to 12/12 Masterworks, so I see no point in playing until the next season.

Also bought Hogwarts Legacy (still had enough PS Stars points for €20 Store credit), but even on PS5 Pro, I think the game is underwhelming.
Graphically it looks good, it's cool to see the world brought to life like this and HFR Performance feels really smooth, but the game itself is kinda not it. Animations are rather basic, combat doesn't really feel very satisfying, movement feels sluggish and the world seems rather sterile. Expected it to be much more engaging en brimming with life.
Maybe I'll give it another try at some point.

Went back to Pokémon Scarlet, now playing on Switch 2 rather than the Lite. What a difference! Game feels fresh and fun compared to how I remember it back in 2022-23.

Also making slow and steady progress through Horizon 2. Such a large and ambitious game, almost overwhelming but something makes me come back and push a little further every other day.

Went back to play some Space Marine 2 after the siege update - pretty fun mode all things considered, but I think I've had my fill of the gameplay at this point. So I grinded out the last trophy and uninstalled it. Would pick it back up to play with friends though, or if they release other bigger updates.

Also went back to revisit another game I wanted to finish, especially since the reveal of a sequel, Mortal Shell. A very modest and janky soulslike, but an admirable effort for a small team.

I never finished the DLC which was a roguelike remix of the main game - quite fun actually, once you get to grips with it. Finally got to the ending (requiring 7 successful runs) and can happily retire that game as well. Will be looking forward to the sequel which looks like a big step up. I'm always happy to see small devs find success with humble beginnings and finding the opportunity to grow.

Not quite sure yet what will be my next main game, aside from revisiting Nightreign for the next batch of hardmode bosses. It's so hard to choose with the overabundance of great games.

I'm 45 hours in to DK Bananza and there is never a dull moment in this game, it always introduces fun mechanics in each layer….the pacing it just perfect.

Amazing game! Best of luck if you set your sights on completing the pantheons :messenger_fire:

BTW I don't think you need to get the unbreakable charms for max completion (but I guess you're just about done with that anyway)

Yeah I got all charms and Salubra's blessing yesterday, plus the final grub reward. 106% right now! Currently hunting enemies for the journal. Should take it to 107% if I manage that but we'll see…

It bugs me that I took the wrong turn in the lifeblood cave in the abyss, locked me out of one pickup, apparently you can't reenter the cave after exiting it.

I've done two pantheons, those needed to deliver the flower to Godseeker. I'm not planning to go for the rest, the final one sounds absurd, 42 bosses in a row(!!!). But might attempt one more perhaps.

10/10 game for sure!
Back in the day I was grumpy about the difficulty, liked Ori more, but today Hollow Knight is up there at the very top for metroidvanias imo. Nostalgia gets me to place Super Metroid higher. But we're talking top 5 all time here. 👌

So I was just continuing my 2nd playthrough of the System Shock 2 Remaster and noticed something while checking psnprofiles...

Game Owners: 169, Recent Players: 36

crying-boy.gif

There is shovelware with 10 times more owerns than this. What a disgrace. System Shock deserves better.

Cyberpunk 2077 Act 3

I really like the japanese voice actors, I can really understand them most of the time. My only "problem" is that I don't want to explore the world, so I probably miss a lot of the game. I'll do Phantom Liberty afterwards, unless it's too long

Switch 2
  • Donkey Kong Bananza - Glorious. Brilliant controls, so much fun to play and very addictive. Nintendo in awesome mode.
  • Tears of the Kingdom - Glad I waited to play this, early on but it feels fantastic so far.
  • Mario Kart World - Looks lovely but a bit meh so far
PS5 Pro
  • Rise of the Ronin - Early on but it's a load of fun so far, not as ugly as I expected either.

Series X

  • South of Midnight - I love the visuals, style and setting, gameplay is only ok so far.

I have a load of stuff in my backlog such as Baldur's Gate 3, The Callisto Protocol and A Plague Tale: Requiem on PS5 to play, some Gamepass stuff that I'll love such as Metaphor Refantazio and Clair Obscure that I'll buy on sale on PS5 instead.

Not enough time :(

Donkey Kong Bananza - On level 7
Wheel World - Still early on, done a few races
THPS 3 - On Suburbia. It's much more challenging than the previous stages
Ninja Gaiden Ragebound: Going to have to start it today.
Grounded 2 - Played about 3 hours and am actually pretty into it

Gotta finish off DK this weekend maybe so I can start knocking out some of these. Juggling a lot. I'd like to try and get to Outer World 1 and Stalker 2 as well. Can't keep up!

Didn't know you could get locked out of the Lifeblood core without the charm, that's really unfortunate!

Pantheons 3 & 4 aren't too bad in terms of difficulty, and you'll get two new really awesome boss fights if you push through.

But yeah the 5th one is crazy, you really have to commit to it (though there's apparently also an invincibility exploit if you just want to see what's there).

Took me almost 20 hours of practise and attempts to get good enough to beat it :messenger_grinning_sweat: not sure I can recommend it, but it was certainly a meaningful experience to have (I swear, my heart was about to pound itself out of my chest when I finally managed to get those last hits in on the 42nd boss)

I got the charm but in that cave there is a crossroad near the end, if you go left you get an arcane egg, if you go right you get lifeblood core and gets transported out of the cave and can never enter again. I never went left, so missed the arcane egg.
However, I don't know if it's part of the completion percentage but I assume it is.

Respect!
I don't think I could do it. But I'll give it a try!

Groove Coaster Future Performers came out and I bought it on Switch 2. I am not so keen on a VN style story mode, but it unlocks songs so here we go lol. And I want to unlock Avatars and such, so I'll see if story mode unlocks those as well. I love WAI WAI PARTY! on the Switch; that one has some real bangers in it for me.

Any fellow Groove Coaster heads?! <3

Finally reached Shinada's part on Yakuza 5. Hoping to finish the game in the next few days. Beside it I've been replaying Vice City

Tried Descenders Next and it seems a little bit too hard for me. I would like to sit down and master the controls, but I guess that will have to wait now that it is summer and I don't have much time to play games.

Played a few matches of FragPunk. There is not a lot of punk in it, that is for sure. Nevertheless, I'm not much of a competitive online shooter type, so I won't stick around, but it seems to control well. I don't know much about level design and if the maps are well designed, but they are kind of small so it is non stop action. Mostly populated with kids I think, because I kept on doing the most kills and I am not even that good usually. Also, for a dead console, it sure has a lot of xbox players (usually around 40% per match).

Finished El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron. I used to love this game on PS3. I even tried to platinum it but it proved to difficult in the end. The game is still good, but it has some annoying parts. The platforming is very difficult due to the isometric view and fixed camera angles so you fall to your death constantly. The controls are a little bit finnicky so sometimes it can be frustrating to do a jump or execute a combo. The combat is pretty repetitive but when you get a hang of it it´s pretty cool. But it´s always the same setup. You run around the levels jumping and then you come to an arena full with enemies. Fight. Rinse and repeat.

The good parts of the game is the visual style. It´s probably one of the more unique looking games out there, there isn´t really anything comparable. It mixes up 2D with 3D and has some very weird quirks in both level design and enemy design. The game is based on Christianity, in particular the Book of Enoch, in which Enoch needs to purify the fallen archangels who have escaped heaven and erected a tower of darkness where they reside. You´re guided by Lucifer who keep in touch with God on a cell phone and you need to defeat the Archangels in order to stop the Genesis flood. The game is faithful to the overall story arch and even contains scriptures about the Nephilim, but devs have taken major liberties with the source material. But it´s a cool interpretation and to my knowledge, nothing has ever been done quite like this in El Shaddai.

I still love the game, but it´s probably more nostalgia talking these days. It´s more style over substance, and even if the game is short it has some very tedious sections with frustrating platforming elements. I found myself sighing quite often when I played it so it was more interesting to follow the game purely from a story point of view. The gameplay unfortunately doesn´t hold up.
