What game are you currently playing?

Tried out MK1 because it was on PS Plus, thank God I did not purchase this. I can see its a very well made game, but I really don't like the way it controls. The Rogue PoP is a fun game, I'll stick with it for a while. Finally got to try out Unicorn Overlord, still very early but I can see myself playing this to the end. Sword of the Sea is so damn gorgeous, its such a visual treat.

The D4 expansion, Vessel of Hatred was on sale so I finally bought it. Its great, given that I quite enjoy D4. I like the new region Nahantu, wished they added more interesting monsters instead of mostly variations of existing ones. Spiritborn class is great, lots of flexibility and variation between its abilities. Just finished the main campaign and again got sucked into Diablo's world. Blizzard clearly wanted to make the overall tone darker than D4 but my only wish is that they go way darker in the next expansion/D5. Will start the endgame soon, see how far into the season 9 I can go but I'm not sure if I can do this all again for next season.

The Plucky Squire
I liked it overall. Very nice art style, simple in 2D and not too much clutter in detailed Toy Story like 3D. I think HDR worked finer than usual. Blacks did not turn everything entirely black, but had shades, and every color popped. Everything was rather easy, except maybe some parts of boss battles where not much wiggle room for errors is there. Many passive story segments and probably too much story time, talking a whole lot. There is a streamlined option for that, but I could not tell what it removes because it felt like everything was still there and since skipping entire scnes is not possible, with some bits the narration can't even be skipped at all, so hammering on any button to get each single dialog line skipped is all that is possible. There were some nice hommage minigames to various games like Punchout or Resogun. Difficulty, tonally, style all aimed probably at generation Teletubbies or younger with only the last chapter being dark and otherwise painfully cheery/ ignorant positive. Game length is rather short but unless they would crank up the mechanics and number of puzzle steps needed, it would have been repetitive to do more on the current execution. The basic idea probably could have been turned into a better game, with another dev team, on another budget, but overall solid fun for a smallish game.

War Pips and Cast and Chill, just got War Pips for a couple bucks, both are good games in their own right, War Pips is a fun, quick action that kind of reminds me of an ebaums world game if it was good, and Cast and Chill, is well...chill.

Fears to Fathom: Woodbury Getaway - Finished - 8/10
I enjoyed this very much. Visually, it looks like some sort of upscaled PS2 era horror game and I really like that. A little bit more gameplay and interactivity than I was expecting. Plays out like a low budget horror movies from the 80s. There's more games by this developer and I'm quite interested to play them all.

Prey (2017), again. My third playthrough and it's even better than I remember. It might become my favorite game of all time, and I've been into gaming for 35+ years.
I've played through it 3 times now, and it somehow gets better every time. I think it's because they added so much freedom of choice, and there's enough to learn about the world and your interactions with it that I, personally, couldn't soak it all in initially.

I played Prey when it released but never finished it on PS4. I got it for free on the Epic store a while back and seeing these posts makes me want to sit down and play it again.

Currently playing Horizon Zero Dawn remastered on PS5 Pro and loving it.
What a great story and the graphics are incredible, I'll never understand the hate this story gets.
The premise and lore is interesting. Unfortunately, that isn't the story we play through. I couldn't care less about the squabbling between different tribes. The gameplay is super fun, though.

Actually had a lot of fun with UnderMine on the weekend, what a great little roguelike. I paid $2 for it on a Steam sale a couple weeks back and already have over 8 hours gameplay, total steal. Had a couple really good runs on the weekend that advanced me quite a bit. There's a sequel in early access too.

My other cozy weekend game was Pac-Man World Re-Pac, got it for $6 on Fanatical. It's fine, nothing special or really unique, definitely a remake of that older era of 3D platformer. Pretty short, I imagine I'll finish it in under 5 hours and never play again.

I finally started Life is Strange: Double Exposure. Well, I started it some time ago but drifted away from it, started a new play through and don't remember anything which is a relief.

A few hours in, I don't find it as entertaining or engaging as True Colors. But, I forgot how likeable Max Caulfield is, the game looks gorgeous on my new OLED TV running in quality mode on the PS5, and as usual the score and needle drops are impeccable.

I'm going to have to put this on hold again soon though, because my baby Metal Gear Solid Delta is unlocking tomorrow.

Just beat KCD 2 after 6 months lol. Truly one of the greatest RPG ever made. That last scene with von Aulitz was pure cinema, the only game where the boss fight is a cutscene guilt tripping you about your actions throughout the game. Absolutely great writing. Man, I love Vavra so much(no homo). It's probably the only time where I said to myself maybe videogame can be seen as a serious medium.

Also, just installed TLOU 2 Remaster on PC, i just wish I could find any enjoyment in this game. I don't like Drunkman at all.

I've played a ton of Chibi-Robo and I *think* I'm nearing the end, but I've completely run out of steam. Some of the clunkier aspects are weighing on my enjoyment and leaving the game where the wife wants to divorce her goofball husband thanks a little robo-sabotage seems like a satisfactory way to conclude my playthrough.

Just booted up MGS3 Delta.

The Outer Worlds - Spacer's Edition:

Pretty into it so far. I definitely prefer Starfield but there's a lot of good stuff here. Combat is just passable, but that will be improved in the sequel. The corporation parody stuff is fine but the writing could be edgier. Pretty solid start. Some parts feel a bit like Mass Effect.
Try DLC content if you have it. It's more focused endevour and writing is better (despite both DLCs having different styles and attitudes)

Will do! I think Spacer's Edition has all of it. It starts a little slow, but it's starting to introduce some of the broader lore stuff. It's enjoyable. Really pumped for the sequel.

Prey
Saw a few people talking about the game above and on previous pages and I remembered getting it free via the Epic Games store, so I thought I'd download it and play through. I haven't played longer than an hour, but it's good, isn't it? Like, really good. That gloo gun is ridiculous amounts of fun.

Yeah, I thought it was an amazing experience on the whole.

Gosh guys, waxing lovingly on this game.. What a great play it was.

Now whether I play it or not.. well, the intent has been made - not sure where it goes beyond that. I am definitely in the mood for some first person something though.

Still on path to beat Ninja Gaiden Black. Just fought Alma for the first time and after dying a couple times to her grabs i found a good strategy to beat her

Also the Vigoorian Flails are awesome against rival ninjas, wish i could got them earlier in the game

You can get their precursor (nunchucks) on starting hard or higher difficulty. Also found early in the Imperial City on lower difficulties.

Minishoot Adventures - Blends perfectly a bunch of genres (metroidvania, bullet hell, Zelda)

Grime - seems really solid overall

Deaths Door - what a gem

I just finished Mafia II main story and tried playing the dlcs. Man, those are so awful that I'm considering just dropping them and moving on lol

This year I beat Mafia II, too. From dlcs finished only Joe's Adventures. Another 2 dlcs dropped after few moments.
Yeah, I did a few missions on first Jimmy's dlc. Got bored of its gameplay loop and decided to try Joe's Adventures instead. Its first mission was nice and followed a similar structure to missions from the main game. And then they decided to make a complete switch and reverted to very similar gameplay loop as on Jimmy's dlc. I rarely felt so bamboozled in games like while playing this dlc lol

SilkSong imminent release has got me playing Hollow Knight for the 3rd time.

I had gotten like 2/3 through it before on Steam, but gave up because something else came out and when I returned to it I had forgotten how to progress.
Then I played it like 4 years ago on PS5 and 100%ed it (except for the Boss Rush final DLC they added, killed a lot of them without getting hit but not all).

So now playing on Steam again to get all of them achievements. Really enjoying it, haven't died yet, saving up 4000 Geode and then I am going to bank it all at once!

Beside that I still play Diablo IV every now and then, also Disco Elysium.

On the weekend, I checked out, Virtua Striker 2002 for the Gamecube (via the Wii) Got more into Batman Arkham Asylum on the PS4 Pro, and yesterday continued on a bit with Indiana Jones, (I think I am near the end game of the Giza section..) before I meet the "boss" of the level.......meanwhile I am on the fence about MGS: Delta, not sure if it is worth the buy if I already have HD edition...all 3 games - MGS 3, Portable Ops, and Peacewalker, have all been seen aages ago via a video walkthrough I saw for all 3 titles many, many years ago as mentioned...so I am a bit more intrigued by Portable Ops, and Peacewalker, rather than revisiting MGS3 with it's new coat of paint..

Going through my 2nd playthrough of the System Shock 2 Remaster during the week for some trophy hunting and on the weekend when I have more time Clair Obscure... for now.

From next weekend of I'll probably do a deep dive into MGS Delta.

Just got the plat in StarWars Outlaws. Outside of the not believable sneaking takedows, punching helmets and armors, really?! and the AI that is dumb and almost blind, it's an ok game. The representation of the starwars world and visuals are top notch, played on the pro.
Now to finish Ninja Gaiden Ragebound before the Shinobi launch.
Also playing some Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 on the Switch2, one of the few third party games that I missed from the Switch era. Nice for some couch co-op with friends.

Chapter 6 of Deadly Premonition DC (Vanilla). 3 crashes so far and I thought not too bad. Then I hit the diner bug and the game crashes every single time I leave. Try to trigger a cutscene by smoking? Instant freeze.

Finished Mafia last week.
Patiently waiting for Metal Gear and NBA.

So in the meantime i'm sort of a free agent and just playing random shorter experiences. MLB, GT7, Helldivers, Mario Kart World.

Botw. This is my third attempt at playing it.

Overall, it treads somewhere between dreadfully boring and relaxing. Once in a rare while I find it engaging.

I have completed two of the divine beasts, naboris and Ruta most recently.

I've been playing it for 6 months.

Clair obscur: this is kind of back seat to botw right now.

It's a perfectly good game, just doesn't fit into my life right now.

Ark Nova: I love Ark Nova. I do the special exhibits every 3 days. It's fun, and I have loved the board game too. I have been playing this since Christmas.

Director Cut - PC (Steam) vanilla.

God speed. At the minimum I would recommend using Durante's fix, otherwise the game will run at 720p only.

Other then that, I wish you best of luck. The PC version is extremely hit or miss in terms of if it works fine (or at all) for people or not.

I survived GTA4 vanilla but I've read that this is way worse.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden
Only played for a couple of hours, so basically doing the intro / tutorial part. Seems good so far.

  • The Revenge of Shinobi - Decided to play it last night. Finished it once again with the good ending. Discovered a new trick last night during the final boss fight. Hit once, somersault over him, hit again, rinse and repeat. Crazy how I didn't figure this out before YEARS ago! Also, I still got that somersault timing on stage 7 (ifkyk).
  • Shinobi: Art of Vengeance - BEAUTIFUL ASS GAME. Straight up. Finished the Mountain area and doing the lantern festival now. Enjoying the Metroidvania aspects a lot, not gonna lie
  • Resident Evil 4 - picking up where I left off, Chapter 13. Started Seperate Ways too. Ada is a lot of fun to play as.

Just played Bang-On Balls. The title is prob the weakest part, but the game itself is pretty nice. There's so much charm and personality, and it's satisfying just moving around while breaking things, it could almost be a form of stress relief.

This Shinobi game can stand proudly with the earlier Genesis entries of the game...and that's no mean feat when you consider how long it has been since the last-entry...

After playing it (on and off) for what felt like at least 6 months, me and my 9 year old daughter finally finished Split Fiction. She is not really a gamer, her experience with video games is pretty much Minecraft on ipad and It takes two so I'm proud of her getting past game's harder sections and let's be honest - the game is at least twice as hard as It Takes Two. Most of my friends gave up on Split Fiction, because their wives, kids or girlfriends found the game too hard. I liked the game overall, especially the trippy parts in the last stretch, but some segments are a bit needlessly dragged out. 7.5/10, I think.

Prince of Persia Rogue is wonderful. I have time for one run a day, but it just gets better and better.

At the end of chapter four of Rogue Trader. The Siege mission is quite the gauntlet. Took me three tries to beat the damn defiler. How'd you fair against that beast, Mister Wolf Mister Wolf ?

By that point in the game my team was absolutely broken powerful and I was pretty much steamrolling through the game on Hard difficulty. I was following Werglias's build for most character and making slight alterations when need be. For Idira I put her in Biomancy. Then I gave her the new archetype thats gets access to that psyber Raven. That raven being able to buff the whole party with her abilities vs targeting a single ally makes her extremely powerful. The Biomancy abilities are great. One thing the game doesn't talk about is you can raise up downed allies. The way I found out is there is a Biomancy staff that drains an enemy and gives the health to the lowest health ally. That will raise a downed ally. Cassia, Argenta, and Kibellah were doing massive damage. I gave Argenta a Flamer. Found it way more reliable than Bolter. Yrliet was doing her fair share of damage too. Kibellah and that Bladedancer ability is broken. She gets so many opportunities to attack. My character I went with Warrior/Vanguard with an axe and tailored him around getting critical hits. Death World and Criminal background. There is this cape called the Malpian Shroud that made him pretty much unkillable. There is also a special Axe i got for him called Tearing Vengeance. Definitely worth getting if you have a melee fighter. The toughest fights I had in the game were in that Void Shadows DLC.
