What game are you currently playing?

About halfway through in Prince of Persia Rogue. Just when you start to think you haven't made progress in a while, something happens and pulls you back in.

Tried two weekend free games on xbox. The Knightling and Lost Eidolons. The first one is a very indie action adventure with platforming, puzzles and so on. Kind of a game I would buy for 6-7 EUR. Appreciate developers of Lost Edolons trying to present an indie game to look like a proper AA with fancy cut-scenes and all that. Also, it could have beeen a fun turn-based strategy distraction, but it is a Japanese game and has absolutely terrible writing and even worse VA - it got on my tits so much I didn't bother to play more than 20 minutes.

One thing that bothers me the most in the Yakuza series is the combat.
The lock on/soft lock(?) is next to useless, enemies can interrupt combos, you're almost always getting struck from behind because trying to face the right way is cumbersome.
It's so cheap, that you feel like you're never on the cusp of mastering some sort of flow.

Still, I got to a point where I run a host club. I love that shit.
 
Just bought MGS Delta, so I'll be playing that when I get back from work. Can't wait. Gonna take my sweet time now.

Can't believe it's been 10 years since I played it last. Doesn't feel like it at all.
 
Just beat Hellblade 2 on PS5 Pro.

6.9/10 game, would've been lower if it wasn't such an impressive audio-visual experience and would've been a 7.5 if it didn't have such a try-hard ending.

Atmosphere was amazing though and it was still worth the €50 price, just underwhelming compared to the original.

Lots on my plate:
1. Finishing up Mutant Year Zero after discovering it looks noticeably better on NS2.
2. At the end of Clair Obscur on PS5.
3. Just bought Star Trek Insurgence on Switch.
4. Got X Com Chimera Squad dirt cheap on Steam so I thought I'd try it. If you ignore the abysmal storytelling, it's still a fun Xcom game.

Death Stranding 2 and Donkey Kong Bananza. But can't seem to really get going in either. When I feel motivated for gaming again, they feel like a nice combo to play in the same period though.
 
I just start The Alters.
This War of Mine was a fantastic game, this one take the same way.
It will probably be the best Sci-Fi game i've played since Returnal.
 
Trying Age of Empires 4 right now, but it's the same like with all RTS, i see the skill requirements to get good and that demotivates me to play further. Maybe i should go step by step and not caring about the endstate of all of that.
I'm not the biggest RTS fan because of that. I wish i could just play casual and enjoying myself but i don't.

Could it be that AoE4 is a hard game, i even struggle on easy right now.

I'm playing Abiotic Factor with a friend of mine in coop, it's fucking incredible. The level design in this game slaps basically most AA/AAA efforts, it's truly impressive.

While I'm not playing that in coop I'm trying to complete some missions in Earth Defence Force 6. It's basically EDF5 with more content and QoL, which sounds good to me. I'm having lots of fun playing that, I'm pretty good at defending Earth:

Currently finishing Enviromental Station Alpha, metroidvania, of course, and very good, has its things that separate from greatness but is worth it

The final stretch of EDF6 is some of the coolest stuff to ever be put in a game. Kino beyond the kino.

Love those games, I wonder what they'll come up with in the next game.

I'm on the main mission 'Reboot'. Need to find a way to beat a technopath and enter the power plant. I've invested some points into the power which shuts down enemy abilities and the game has gotten a lot easier.

Wuthering Waves
My first 'Gacha' game. Enjoying it, ya know. Really like the art style, the music, and the gameplay. In terms of progress, I have just beaten Scar in battle and he has left with a mysterious woman. I think this will be my ideal side-game for the foreseeable future. A good palette cleanser between all the horror games I play.

Going to finish my evening with a retro horror game. Choices are Resident Evil 2, Silent Hill 3, and Haunting Ground.
 
Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes. About 20 hours in. Hisashi Old Town. Loving it so far. It's Suikoden in all but name. Not as good as the second one (but what is?) but definitely on par if not better than the first and five. My only gripe is that the game has some bullshit enemies that can inflict huge damage for really no good reasons. I upgrade my gear and level up but it doesn't matter, they can kill you in two hits anyway. Seems unfairly balanced. Other than that it's great.

I'm also on the last stretch on DK Bananza. Probably my GOTY. Absolutely fantastic game that's just brimming with creativity and fun gameplay. Searching for bananas and smashing the environment up never gets old. This is a game you can just pop in and play for a couple of hours, jump out for something else and then jump back in like nothing happened. The pick up and play factor is second to none.

Black Mesa for the first time, though I've played HL1 many times. About 1/3 of the way through and it's been amazing, both the enhancements and also how well the original level design and gameplay stacks up. The game was ahead of its time back in 1998, a must play for everyone who likes FPS and no excuse not to buy it when it goes on sale under $5 multiple times a year.


Also just started Emio: The Smiling Man. Never played a Famicom Detective Club game but I'm a sucker for a good visual novel, especially a dark one and I'm enjoying it so far. It's finally time for spooky games for me, October alone isn't enough time nowadays so I start a month early growing in spook themes as Halloween approaches. I only have the demo for now, but should have the game in the next week or two.


And perhaps eclipsing both of the above games, I'll be playing Silksong on release. Enough said, only 2 more days to wait.
 
And Deadly Premonition is finally done. What a wild ride. Honestly I didn't expect to finish it given what I'd read about the performance especially that constant diner crash but after that it ran okay. I'd estimate about 12 crashes in total. No major glitches were encountered aside from the crashes. Keep in mind this was completely vanilla no tinkering whatsoever.
 
Killing Time Resurrected, bought it because Nightdive. Missed out on the original completely. This game is fun. The open world, music, item hunting. The shotgun feels great. Sure, enemy variety is a thing but each section has its own. Remembering where all the doors are is a bitch tho.
 
Pistol Whip (VR2/PS5)
I expected something like Raw Data, saw only some screenshots prior and did not expect a rail shooter. Which isn't entirely bad, VR stuff often has a rather awkward control scheme, so getting dragged through the scenery might be actually a wiser choice. But still a bit of a bummer. Did also not expect that it is a bit of a music/rhythm game although beside one trophy that asks for a streak not much happens when you not shoot on beat. Only a lower score I guess. The autoaim is massive, the general direction is enough and bam bam bam, ideally on beat for full points. Imho they could have slowed down the game a bit and require more actual aim instead. The two story campaigns are generic as fuck and I think even optional. There are a couple of levels but the trophies can be done in a very few selected ones. Trying all levels anyway and getting to know where some trophies can be done best is fun though. Takes more time though of course. Dodging bullets is a bit clumsy in seated mode, because ducking requires you to bend your spine way too much while still looking around in front of you. But in summertime, when I am sweating already, just because of the helmet, I did not want to try playing standing and squat for every bullet and obstacle.
It's good fun for a few hours, but like many VR games it feels too much like a tech demo where the core is kinda there but not much substance built around it.

I cannot describe how much I love this game and have done since it came out. I still feel nothing comes close. Not too fast, or slow. Excellent tight levels, a brilliant tarot card system with good challenges

Death Stranding 2, only just started it a few days ago and I'm completely blown away.
Very rare that we get these games with this level of detail and polish. It's really a landmark moment for current gen and the only thing I see surpassing it is GTA 6.
 
Resident Evil 4 (2005) with the HD Project overhaul and some RTGI ReShade settings to fine-tune the visual upgrades. I've also been playing Ninja Gaiden 2 (2008) ver1.0 on Xenia emulator with ReShade and Special K as well and it looks so good. I'm tempted to get Silk Song, but I'm going to wait and play Ninja Gaiden 4 instead.
 
Over the years I've been spending pennies on all kinds of discounted games that I literally knew zero about so I finally installed a few of them on my XSX to see what it is:

Draugen - A slow-walking narrative game. You know, Dear Esther, Gone Home type. Finished it because it is short. No puzzles, just walking between points of interest. The story is OK and interesting enough to continue, but the communication between the two main characters can be a bit annoying.

Ad Infinitum - Another walking sim. First world war, lots of depressing details, but at least this one has actual puzzles. Might finish it.

Jet Kave Adventure - Old school platformer. You play a caveman with a jetpack, collect goodies and do some light fighrting. I completed the first chapter, had a bit of fun, but probably leave it there. Life's too short.

Akimbot - Basicallly the closest thing to Ratchet and Clank you can get on xbox at the moment. Obviously a notch below in quality but pretty well made for what seems like an indie title.

Rise of the Triad - Exactly how I remember it from way back on PC. Ridiculous, stupid and fun if you are into that kind of a thing.

Dark Light - My favourite of the bunch. Plays like a 2D soulslike/metroidvania, sort of like Blasphemous, but set in a cyberpunk setting. Looks nice and tons of RPG/upgrade possibilities.
 
Currently busy with the PS5 version of No More Heroes 3. Got 100% on the Switch version so for the PS5 version (which is a massive fucking upgrade, it's unreal how much of an upgrade it is) getting the platinum will be easier because I already know how to grind those Z chips.

Though I kind of like grinding in games and believe me, No More Heroes 3 is a massive grind. Wish we can get a remaster of Killer Is Dead. Art style is still amazing. When I'm done with NMH3 then I'll start either Hell Is Us or The Conscript

I'm currently trying to find my way around Abiotic Factor. It's been a great game so far (about 5 hours of gameplay).
I'm also playing Infinity Nikki and am really excited about the housing update (haven't tested it yet, though).
 
While working my way through Deadly Premonition I was also playing The Room series on the side. I've finished The Room 1 and 2 and just yesterday I wrapped up The Room 3 which features multiple endings. Next up is The Room 4.
 
i am following a youtuber and she bought Lost Souls Aside and started to stream it , one of the characters inside reminds me of the Judges in FFXII , its a super back logged game to me

Thus the game i am playing now is FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE on PS4
 
Trying to go through my backlog of "Masterpieces". I scoured this forum on Gaf to see what users "10 out of 10/Must Play once in your lifetime" games are and STRICTLY play ONLY those games until I'm caught up.

Finally playing A Link To The Past about to get the Master Sword. And I can see how it's praised to be the best. I can see why people love it better than Ocarina. So far the dungeons haven't overstayed their welcome, the side-quests and heart upgrades aren't tedious. It's just so fun to play. Until I got my first "Dark Souls rage" with the Moldorm Boss in Tower of Hera.

Took me about 8-10 tries where I refused to look up tips or use save-states but it felt good to beat it!

I play all FF games with japanese audio but in XII i prefer english voice acting, most of the main cast accents are superb.



Square Enix has a life sized armor of Judge Gabranth. I'd like to "taking it back"!

Metal Gear Delta

Honest to god, I think this is the most fun I've ever had playing MGS3 - and I played all versions, PS2 original, Subsistance ans PS3 Remaster.

They really did the game justice. So many detail improvements make the game so much more comfortable to play. LOVE IT!

Amazing game. Glad I decided to play it after seeing others post about it in this thread. Not sure why I lost interest in it when it first released. Great weapons and abilities. I used combat focus in the early going, but then switched to the Typhon ability which does damage and shuts down their powers.

Will start Cronos tomorrow.

Ninja Gaiden Black - just beat chapter 9. The Helicopter boss was not very fun but otherwise chapter 9 was great

Gears of War Reloaded - played 3 or so hours and so far so good. The gunplay is pretty good and the campaign has it's moments

I also got a cheap chinese emulation handheld and i'm focusing on beating my NES backlog on it. So far i completed: Castlevania, Rygar, Battle City, Super Mario Bros. Next on the list is Castlevania II: Dracula's Curse

AI Limit - PS5 - about 85% done, pretty solid souls-like!
WWE 2K24 - XSX - doing the last multiplayer achievement before they take the servers down on the 30th.
Lost Soul Aside - PS5 - only a couple hours in but I dig it!
 
FF16 and FF7 Remake.
JRPG's, and Japanese style anime sillyness isnt my kind of thing, but both games arent too bad on that side with them feeling semi serious, and the real time combat transforms then for me (i hate turn based combat). I managed to get keys for both really cheap so i took the gamble.

Also on a side note, FF7 Remake to me looks atleast as good as FF16, apart form the odd tecture here and there, yet i can run Remake at 4k/60, and FF16 at 1080p/60 with DLSS on quality. I mean i know technically one is a PS4 game at its core, and the other a PS5 game, but purely on graphic quality, there is little between them.

Dat modern optimization.

I started playing last night, just about 30 minutes before going to bed, and I liked it. Today I played a bit more, and the game is so good that I ended up playing for over 4 hours straight. The gameplay is fun, the atmosphere is cool and the story is really interesting. Pretty awesome overall. There's a good variety of weapons and skills, plus a choice and morality system. I definitely recommend it for anyone who enjoys tactical RPGs.

Death stranding 2 is a very big game. Im still not finish with the sidequest and world buidling stuff, infiltrations to mule camps and BT areas, and making deliveries. But I'm enjoying it very much and it's very addictive that sometimes I don't notice the time. For me, along with GT7, Stellar blade, Astrobot, and SH2 remake, the game Ds2 is one of the silver linings on the ps5. After DS2, probably I will finally purchase Doom Dark Ages, and I will surely buy BF6 on launch day.

I'm currently doing a no needles run.
Tough, but my natural frugality has helped a lot.
Oh, and I'm going to try Mooncrash dlc next too.
Superb game.
