What if Sony released Warhawk PS3 today?

With the console potentially not reaching our shores before autumn.

Do you think it would increase sales for the title? Do you believe many people would actually go out and buy it just to have something genuine PS3 in their grabs?

I guess the question of if they should do it is another thing(as more dev time only makes a game better) but what if they actually went out and released it today?

I don't understand the nature of your question, but I must say that Warhawk was freaking underappreciated in it's time, and the PS3 version will kick much ass.

Wollan, and hopefully Wollan alone, would own a buggy, incomplete mess of a slideshow that won't be playable for months, if ever.

Is the PS3 finished in this scenario as well? What about a river of chocolate? Can i have that as well? Or a dinosaur as a pet? That would be cool.

Warhawk was one of those launch titles I bought. Beat it in 3 days. Returned it to buy Jumping Flash.

I laugh at the X360 users and thier +4 attach rate, but I was just as bad with the PSX.

I know one of the level designers for Warhawk and we hung out during E3 and went the Episode III opening. He was pretty concerned and praying that the PS3 gets delayed from the Spring into the Fall since at that time they were still working with PS2 dev kits and would have to do some upscaling.

I'm sure the game has a long way to go in terms of polishing at this point.

Is there even a precedent for this? Releasing a couple weeks before a confirmed hardware street date, fine, but why in the world would this make any sense otherwise? It would actually wane sales, in my opinion, since game hype tends to deteriorate quickly. Most people who would buy it wouldn't care much about playing it once they actually got a PS3.

What if Honda released the engine before the new Civic?

What if McDonalds sold the hamburger patties before the buns came in?

What if the chicken came before the egg?

What if the egg came before the chicken?

What if Nintendo sold the Rev controllers before the Rev?

What if the original poster thought before he posted?

It did. It's not exactly tricky to work that one out.

As for the original question, all mockery aside, it's not that dumb. Releasing some useless part of a system before the system itself (whether it's a game or a piece of hardware) isn't a bad gimmick for getting publicity. Just look at the number of people who did buy games for a console that wasn't (quite) out yet in the past. This is just pushing that to an extreme.

I'd say it's still too early for that sort of thing for the PS3, but releasing a game a month or two before the console's launch might actually boost its sales, especially if it came in a limited edition.

Principal: Mr. Wollan, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Wollan: Okay, a simple no would've done just fine.
