I'm talking about the whole phenomenon of laughing at something because it's not funny (movies, jokes, comics). Some movies/comics have reached cult status because they are so not funny, people think they're funny. What happens when there's a whole series based on this context? What makes one of these unfunny pieces more funny than other unfunny ones?

Isn't these movies\comics\shows like a bad joke told in real life? It's so bad that you have to laugh?

I dunno, I haven't laughed at one of those jokes, ever. Especially the long, unwinding ones that have no punch line whatsoever.

Could it be a factor in the culture of the mediocrity? You don't have to be funny, just be so unfunny that it will be funny!

I read a critic of The Incredibles (a movie I liked very much) that said that the movie is bad because its message is that everyone and everything is something special, so you don't have to work harder (the kid is even encouraged to go slower, to meet everyone's normal speed at some point). I know it's not really linked to the topic, but isn't it true that we are giving importance to more and more mediocre/bad stuff nowadays?

Your thread got deleted because it was completely and utterly pointless, unlike this one.

The old thread was asking people to explain the context and backstory of a webcomic to you, when all you had to do is read the readily available archive. You also demanded that people explain the "funny" in the strip, which, as previously mentioned, is absolutely subjective in nature. There were obviously no underlying or hidden tones featured within the strip, so the thread was completely worthless, nothing but rebelling flamebait.

This thread poses a more general question which can be CORRECTLY applied to many facets of different genres of entertainment, and thus the seed for a healthy and interesting discussion can actually be planted. I have nothing against criticizing webcomics or anything else, as I myself think that a fuckload of them fucking suck (MEGATOKYO), and I realize that each one is so subjective in style that a lot of people aren't going to like them. Your old thread was going no where from the second you posted it, whereas this one actually has a point.

But no, as Fresh Prince so intelligently interjected, I must not want anyone to have opinions.

What the fuck are you talking about? Do you know what other posters would have said? They would've explained how they find the childish drawings, the lack of semblence, the crude humor to be endearing (though perhaps not in those exact words). Areas and aspects which Foreign Jackass had already glossed over as terrible. So simply, there was no, and there very rarely IS any case to present to someone who's made up their mind over something as amazingly simplistic and restricted as a WEB COMIC. This is one of the reasons I wanted to cut all negative and argumentative posts out of my thread, because they just would not be constructive one single bit.

He could have posted Penny Arcade, Videogame Cats, Parking Lot is Full, ANY fucking comic other than Mega Tokyo, and it still would've boiled down to the exact same thread. Asking people to explain subjective humor which is so approachingly simplistic, incredibly and obviously without any subtext or underlying humor is absolutely pointless. That is why his thread got deleted. I don't delete threads because they contain a negative opinion of something I like, and you'd be a fucking moron to suggest so.

Yes, I can't control my "actor life", so I demonically enforce my will over internet forums! I've successfully argued my point twice in this thread now, though I'm not sure why, considering you've clearly demonstrated that you're unable to accept a concise explanation by this point.
