I really like dried fruit on cereal. In the UK there are lots of cereals with 'berry' this and 'three berry' that.

But I noticed that the 'berrified' versions of cereal are sweetened. Which is kinda stupid to me. eg special K and Shredded wheat. Healthy, wholewheat cereal. Add fruit? Hey, even better right? No, because now shredded wheat goes from ingredients '100% whole wheat', to 'wheat, sugar, dried fruit'.

WTF?

So, can you get dried fruit separately that I can sprinkly on unadulterated cereal? Not your usual apricot/raisin stuff, but things like rasberries/strawberries.

I'm almost certain such a thing exists. If you have a Trader Joes near you, start your search there. Be prepared to pay almost double what your cereal probably costs though.

I don't know about you guys, but here, all supermarkets ahve bulk-bin sections where you can buy anything by weight amount, from baking needs (flour, chocolate chips, etc), dried fruits, 'candy' (I apostrophise it because here we don't call them that), corn kernels, coffee beens, cerelas, whatever. Pretty much anything you can think of. Just pick and mix, and make your own brand of cereal, sucrose free.

I love fruit in my ceareal, i only like dried fruit though. But lately i've been skipping cereal for these almond cranberry cearal bars by post. They are godly. But my usual cereal is chex or mini wheats (plain) sometimes i like to live dangerously and eat some grapenuts and bran (bad combo, will kill teeth)

Anyone ever had warm mini wheats? Add hot milk, cinnamin and some dried berries. Its really good.

Good stuff. Granola + flake cereal, with dried raspberries and very little added sweetening.

I love putting fruit into my cereal. I use dried figs, dates, apricots, prunes and dried blueberries or cranberries. And fresh apple or banana. Lovely. But it makes me terribly gassy.

Hate to burst your bubble, but dried fruit is just sugar with a nice flavour. It's not especially healthy or anything, like fresh fruit.

Thats not really correct, You still have nutrients and FIBER which is one the most beneficial things about fruit whether its fresh, dried, frozen or canned.

Also, typically, fruit sugar is composed of fructose, while typical table sugar is sucrose. Maybe not that much of a difference, but still a difference (fructose has a lower gi).

??? How can something be "73 % organic"? I thought the definition of organic was no use of pesticides, etc. IF the other 27% has been inorganically grown, then really, isn't the product overall not organic?

Overall, it's not considered Organic. However, 73% of the ingredients are organic. [/Co-op employee]

One of my favorite cereals is Familia Muesli:

It's not a low calorie cereal, but it's all natural. I think there's a low fat version out there as well.

Ingredients: Oat flakes, wheat flakes, millet flakes, dried raisins, whole flour from wheat, rye and barley , dates, wheat germ, hazelnuts, dried apples, bananas, almonds.

Imagine if we replaced the milk in our cereal with orange juice? Disgusting.
My friend did something like that when he was drunk. He got some coc posps and poured Vodka all over it and he ate it!

Where are you from, and what do you call candy?

Lollies.

I was speaking with an American the other day, and I finally learnt what a 'Corn Dog' is. It's what we call a hot dog (Battered sausage on a stick). Also, we call your hot dogs, "AMERICAN hot dogs".

And we say rubbish bag more than trash sack.

Buh.

I just bought some frozen blueberries and I'm gonna try putting them in my morning outmeal tommorow. I noticed all kinds of frozen fruit in the grocery store.

OJ in cereal doesn't seem that odd to me, I'm sure most people that are Lactose intolerent and like cereal have tried juice and cereal. I've had cereal and water before too.
