I also like to make the point that analyst groups absolutely do not reflect what is going on behind the scenes.
You can't assume that because NPD or analyst group X doesn't mention Nintendo, it means that Nintendo is exiting the hardware business or becoming extremely withdrawn as you are implying. Chalk it up to Nintendo being very hush hush about their next generation machine. You can also mix in the fact that the mainstream media generally does ignore Nintendo, regardless of what they're doing.
How about you let Nintendo decide what's going on with their next generation hardware rather than relying on what analyst groups or developers are not saying about it. It makes no sense to come to the conclusions you have based on 'not hearing anything or not being mentioned by developers/analyst.' Nintendo will be glad to tell you all about their plans for the Revolution soon enough.
