What is the average individual battle length in Baldur's Gate 3?

I'm very interested to play Baldur's Gate 3 but the last time I played a game similar to this was Divinity 2: Original Sin and I gave up because the battles took ages. I'm not averse to them being hard and me dying lots, I just want the winning run not to take that long. I'm not saying long battles make for bad gameplay per se but with my current stringent time constraints I can't accommodate that.; spending 20 minutes slowly dying is not for me.

So what do we reckon the average battle time, shortest battle time and longest battle time is in Baldur's Gate 3?

BG3's combat system is even more complex and in-depth than Divinity's, so if you gave up because of that, you won't like BG3. The battles vary in length, but some consisting of a lot of challenging enemies can be extremely long. Doubly so if you're not familiar with the combat.

Are there situations though where your health has plummeted so even if you save half-way you are likely to die when reloading?
Game has reviving, downed states and healing so not only is that expected, its intended to happen as it makes the game interesting.

Its also possible to complete with avoiding it.

Its technically possible to happen, really depends on the difficulty or how well you play, though its also worth mentioning its also possible to run away in the middle of a fight if its too much.

It depends how broken you make your characters. I'm on my second playthrough, and I'm getting through battles 3-4x as fast as the first time now that I know what I'm doing, and the way I built my characters. A ranger assassin with the right equipment can take out a lot of enemies in one shot before a battle even begins. A bare fist fighting Monk with the right feats and equipment can also run in and take out groups of enemies very quickly.

I found it funny how the battles in the game can go horribly wrong sometimes.

Really, I need to get back to it some time.

It starts slow but can be very quick as you advance.

On hardcore difficulty, the first 1.5 chapters is where you really need to prep for combat and use proper synergy and strategy. But as you progress, you'll get stronger and eventually overpowered.

Pretty much all encounters in chapter 3 were finished in one turn during my hardcore playthrough, feels so damn good.

I would say its a little bit longer than Divinity Original Sin 2. Depends on the difficulty ofcourse, im comparing Tactician+

I can't give you a number of minutes, but some battles can take more than 15 minutes.
I'm currently doing an honor mode run, sometimes i need to play even slower than i do with Tactician because i can't afford to savescum my mistakes, i need to actually think my plans and adjust, but im loving it more this way, high risk but higher reward and more satisfying victory. (don't do it as a first run though you will get facerolled)
