For me it's casino royale and the first one that I saw recently on tv (on her majesty secret service)

I didn't see quantom of solace yet, okay I've only seen 12 james bond movies.

The worst one is die another day.

That's not the one with Denise Richards as a nuclear physicist.

So no, The World is Not Enough is the worst. Die Another Day wasn't great, either, though.

The other two Brosnans were okay. GoldenEye was actually good, even.

Casino Royale was f-ing great.

My personal favorite is Goldeneye. Though I'm pretty sure that perspective has been colored by the game a bit. Still, Sean Bean as Alec Trevelyan is fucking awesome, as is Xenia Onatopp.

Its all up to preferences really...

My favorites are

From Russia With Love
Dr No
Thunderball
Goldfinger
The Living Daylights
Golden Eye
Tommorow Never Dies ( Yes I know but I like it)
Casino Royale

FRWL being my most favorite..

My rankings as of right now. It changes every single time I make the list though. Ask me again next week and it'll be different but whatever:

1. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
2. From Russia With Love
3. Casino Royale
4. The Living Daylights
5. Thunderball
6. Dr. No
7. For Your Eyes Only
8. Goldfinger
9. The Spy Who Loved Me
10. GoldenEye
11. Quantum of Solace
12. License To Kill
13. Live and Let Die
14. Diamonds Are Forever
15. The World Is Not Enough
16. You Only Live Twice
17. The Man With The Golden Gun
18. Tomorrow Never Dies
19. Octopussy
20. Moonraker
21. Die Another Day
22. A View To A Kill

Casino Royale

I'm not actually not a huge James Bond fan, but I think that might have more to do with the majority of Bond movies being utter shit, than anything else.

Obviously.

Everything but the Poker scene was excellent.
lol that was all i remember, but i guess i didnt give it a chance though.
the reason i walked out was because i was really really high and couldn't sit still.

i will see if i can watch it today because i know a lot of people who want to see the new one with me and i dont wanna be left out.

I've never really understood the love for Casino Royale, and I feel the poker scenes really dragged the movie down. Specifically, I hated how Mathis kept leaning over to Vesper to explain what was happening in the game. The way he kept telling her how much money was at stake in those scenes made me feel like a was watching poker on ESPN. This was very lazy writing and it was very apparent that the information Mathis was giving wasn't for Vesper's benefit, but for the viewers.

1. On Her Majesty's Secret Service
2. From Russia With Love
3. Casino Royale

Everything after that is debatable, but not that top 3.

edit: oh shit looks like Cheebs beat me. lol hivemind

My top 5 are:

1. Goldfinger
2. You only Live Twice
3. From Russia with Love
4. Goldeneye
5. The Living Daylights.

Really, though, I pretty much like them all but maybe one or two.

And, I haven't seen OHMSS in YEARS... but I remember it being great. And, seeing all you guys putting it at the top, I think it's time for a rewatch!

And, I never liked Thunderball all too well. It's a good movie, but it still feels like a water stage, you know? It's like the Labyrinth Zone of Connery Bond movies.

I third that as the top 3 in that order.

OHMSS is an amazing film... the last third of the movie is nearly perfect.

Best of each Bond:

Connery: From Russia With Love
Lazenby: On Her Majesty's Secret Service
Moore: For Your Eyes Only
Dalton: The Living Daylights
Brosnan: GoldenEye
Craig: Casino Royale

The best of those: On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Excellent film. Great fight scenes, great soundtrack, great Bond girl, awesome plot twist, best Blofeld...

The title warrants one answer, not a list, and as such, I say From Russia With Love. Casino Royale is as close a second as humanly possible, though.

I remember you listed FRWL, OHMSS, and then CR as your order for a while in the past. QoS made CR go up in appreciation I take it eh?

My most recent rankings have FRWL at 1, CR at 2, and OHMSS at 3. Those three pretty much always form my top 3.

I cant wait for the next new entry to rocket up that list. I predict that one of Craigs 3 remaining films will do so.

My opinion isn't really encompassing because I only started watching Bond movies since Brosnan. I think Casino Royale has been my favorite one.

The World Is Not Enough IS a lot worse than Die Another Day yes, which is an impressive achievement. And I think that Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker are even worse than the World Is Not Enough, with Diamonds are Forever lacking any redeeming features other than the theme song as far as I'm concerned.

Anyway, for me. Goldfinger > From Russia With Love > For Your Eyes Only probably after having rewatched them all recently.

Its interesting to see LTK listed as people's favorite. Its a fine film, dont get me wrong, and does the vengeful Bond angle better than QoS did, but at the same time, it feels so out of place in the Bond film canon to me.

Haven't seen From Russia With Love, or OHMS, I think they're only Bond movie I haven't seen, anyway from the top of my head.

Dr. No
Casino Royale
Goldeneye
Never Say Never Again
Thunderball
The Spy Who Loved Me (I honestly can't distinguish between some of Bond's older movies since I saw them so long ago but even though I hated Moore as Bond I quite liked this one, plus it had Jaws)

I really don't get this, what was wrong with it? You had action and story sequences in between to ease all the poker game, which were quite good, so I really don't get the usual hate towards it.

Hmmm there's so many to chose from. Heck it can even change into sub categories, like best Sean Connery Bond movie, be Roger Moore bond movie etc etc.

For me though my favorite has to be A View to a Kill and the ones that come to close I would say Casino Royale and Goldeneye.

ok i just finished watching casino royale. i gotta say its a pretty good movie. wish it didnt have such a cliffhanger ending though.. does it continue the same story in quantum of solace?

Yes. Quantum of Solace is basically an extended epilogue for CR.

lol good thing the sequel just came out so i dont have to wait 2 years to find out what happened. let me guess though, with all the mention of bourne in the other thread im guessing quantum of solace has a cliffhanger ending too lol.

CR didnt have a cliffhanger ending. I think that's part of the problem.

i never could get into james bond. i understand he's an iconic character and all but it escapes me how there're like 200 movies and almost all of them rake in tons of money

I think that's part of the charm for me. Especially after going through that marathon, the ones that stand out are the ones I enjoy the most.

OHMSS is probably the most love-stoy oriented one until Casino Royale.
From Russia With Love has the most equal foe Bond has ever faced.
Goldeneye has a villain who was a rouge double 0 agent.
Goldfinger, I think because it sets the formula that all others follow.
Casino Royale because it is probably one of the most hard-nose, in your face Bond films.

they actually dont rake in as much as it would seem. they're high up on the list of biggest money making franchises ever but when you consider how many friggen bond movies there are compared to how many movies in the other franchises listed...

Not at all. The whole movie is, for better or for worse, a bookend to Casino Royale.

Huh? They are almost always the year of their release one of the top grossing movies worldwide. QoS will easily be the 2nd highest grossing movie next to The Dark Knight this year and Casino Royale was in the top 5 of 2006.

Dalton is the man. He has the midas touch.

notice how many movies are in the james bond franchise compared to the others?

I can't pick one

Casino Royale
Goldfinger
Goldeneye
Diamonds Are Forever
The Man With The Golden Gun (which, incidentally, is the only good Roger Moore Bond movie)
