I'm not a "chocolate snob" by any means, I enjoy lots of variety even the cheap stuff, but this is hands down the best chocolate bar I have ever eaten.

I would like to take a moment to say how stupidly good the salted caramel juice in those hotel chocolat egglets is. The chocolate is so-so but that gooey caramel goodness is sublime.

Have you heard of a brand called Amedei, out of Italy? They're the only chocolatier that has access to the heirloom Criollo bean from the Chuao region of Venezuela. It's supposed to be the most flavorful chocolate bean there is.(Read about it on wikipedia).

Here is Amedei's English Website, so you can get an idea of what kind of bars they offer. I've had a bunch of them and I've loved them all. It's really, really excellent chocolate.

A lot of gourmet stores carry their chocolate bars. You can also order them online.

Michel Cluizel is also really superb. They make a 45% milk chocolate that is the most buttery thing to eat. It's heaven.

I love their Blanco de Criollo bar! It's the Limited Edition 70% that won the Academy of Chocolate Gold 2013 awards. It's too damn expensive though, $13 US for a 1.5oz bar. This is my 2nd bar, I use it as a display as it's too awesome lol.

Probably the best bar I've had in a few years. 10/10

Personally when I want to eat milk chocolate, I'm thinking more of having any number of sweet things, with additives like caramel. Confectionary stuff.

So when you're talking about "the best chocolate" I don't even think of that type of thing, since chocolate is not emphasized. We may as well talk about cakes and such at that point.

I guess the lecture is a bit redundant, but so is talking about milk and white chocolate in conversations like this one.

And yet "best" is still a matter of taste...though I will agree on white chocolate merely because it's not actually chocolate as it contains no cocoa solids. That implies, of course, no judgement of inferiority; it's just something different, outside the established bounds of this discussion. Milk chocolate, however, is still chocolate.

As to the point of confections containing other additives such as caramel, that's hardly exclusive to milk chocolate, and there are numerous milk chocolate products which contain only milk chocolate. So the point falls pretty flat.

Yeah, that bar is ammmazzinninng! Agreed, it is too expensive to buy on a regular basis. Maybe once every year/two years. What's the point of living if you can't have good chocolate?

Honestly the Lindt 70% bars you can get at most supermarkets are pretty damn good chocolate. Lindt is a quality Swiss chocolate maker since 1845. Don't get over 70% cacao though otherwise it's nasty.

This is the correct answer. And adding to that, you can melt the bar yourself and throw in your own ingredients, like a dash of cinnamon, a crushed bourbon vanilla bean, a drop of cream, some sugar cane juice, and top it off with a dollop of custard. Perfection.

This is my favorite chocolate bar. From Germany.

It's not super rare. Though, this particular variety, for whatever reason, is impossible to find in my area now. It's super depressing. Their other varieties are all fantastic, but I like the simplicity of just milk chocolate.

No idea what the world's best chocolate is but I really love the Ghiradelli 86%. I have bags of the individually wrapped squares stashed in my office desk at work. I have one or two every day after lunch. Goes great with my afternoon green tea.

What is widely considered the world's best chocolate is Godiva. It's very very good and these things are of course all a matter of taste. Not sure you can order it online as it would melt? If you go to any major city there should be a retail shop somewhere. Expect to pay say $10 to $15 for a bar the size of your finger.

You can order it online and they will ship it with ice packs (like the ones parents use to keep school lunches cold but bigger) so they won't melt, unless you live somewhere incredibly hot and you arent home and it's at left on your porch for 10+ hours.

In my opinion, all chocolate tastes pretty damn similar. Some of the more expensive brands are smoother or stronger, but I'm never like "Wow, that was worth the $15 I spent on a candy bar."
