What Is Your GOTY?

I can't fucking believe how many awesome games have come out in these past 2 months. Sweet sugary Jesus Juice.

So far it's Grand Theft Auto SA, but I had some unbelievably awesome clan matches today in Halo 2.... I also haven't even touched Half Life or Metal Gear, which I know will both rock the cazbah. Damn, I'm going to have games to play for months and months.

Metroid Prime 2. While the controls could use some work and the multiplayer is total crap, I've never seen such an amazing atmosphere with some awe-inspiring details, greatly enhanced by an excellent music background. Surprising indeed.

1.) Halo 2
2.) World of Warcraft
3.) Half Life 2
4.) Ninja Gaiden
5.) GTA: SA

I'm still hopeful that Star Wars Knights of the Republic 2 will deliver, so I guess we will see on that one.

Tough for me to say, since I still haven't played quite a few GOTY contenders: Metroid Prime 2, Paper Mario 2, MGS3, etc.

But out of what I've played: Katamari Damacy

So much gaming goodness out there, but I have to say Katamari. Simply put, no other game this year is as fun to play, period. I've had the import since it first came out and I still go back to it no matter what. And I know I'll be enjoying to for years to come.

One of the most original games I've played this generation. The concept is so stupid and simple it's no wonder it's so fun to play. The only thing that held it back was its length. All over in under 5 hours for me.

Still waiting to play MGS3, Halo 2 and Ninja Gaiden though. All that should change come Christmas day (cannot bloody wait).

Out of all the games this year it has to be Half Life 2 = Metroid Prime 2, two games that have so much atmosphere and detail and that are so different at the same time. One you have to traverse a whole planet and the other you have to help fight for it, two really great games. And also honorable mention has to go to Pikimin 2, theres somethign about this game that makes it just a good game all around, the gameplay mechanics in this game are just perfect. Its just sad that its a really overlooked game.

So far it's a tie between Galleon on Xbox and Tales of Symphonia on Gamecube. Directly followed by Half Life 2. Halo 2 is on the third place.

I still have to play Metal Gear Solid 3, Shadow Hearts Covenant and Kotor 2. Kotor 2 most presumebly will become my GOTY 2004 as Kotor was my GOTY 2003.

I guess overall I'd have to say Ninja Gaiden

But Katamari Damacy is a very close second.

And Nostalgia actually makes Metal Slug 3 and SF Anniversary Collection my favorite games released this year even though they are not "new" games.

Richard Burns Rally - Best Rally simulation ever with the most viceral 900 degrees of force feedback yet.

Half Life 2 so far...

WoW is right there with it, even though that is just based on beta :lol

Aside from that, not much else had me "itching" to play and lived up to the personal hype I gave it.

Doom 3 is biggest letdown despite the fact that I really enjoyed it, I expected more....but hey, that is another topic

Fantastic soundtrack, refreshing gameplay, wacky, hilarious gamescript, and loveable characters. Stick those descriptions on any other game that came out this year, and they just don't fit.

Half Life 2 is the best game I've played in the last five years.

Metal Gear Solid 3 is the best movie I've seen this year.

I can't decide between Halo 2 and MGS3. Halo 2's first half was much better, but MGS3's climax is just incredible. Halo 2's ending is awful, while MGS3's makes me tear up. I need more time with Halo 2's multiplayer. If it gets better than what I've played so far, it will be goty.

I need to finish a few games to decide. I don't have the time to play so many games at once and when I finally have time, I'm overwhelmed by the selections. Next weekend I'll play non-stop. I do say this every week, though. I need a fucking vacation.

So far it would be Half-life 2.

Though in Japan we have DQVIII, MGS3, Tales of Rebirth still to come so the balance may tip.

Though before November I'd say it would've been a tie between Ninja Gaiden/Shadow Hearts 2/Dragon Quest V remake.

I have just finished my MGS3 marathon for today. I have not been this involved in any game since my good ol' Playstation days. Thought my interest in gaming was dwindling but MGS3 has proven that false. :D
My GOTY for sure! There is no resisting the crocodile head!

GTA:SA was great, but I'm not urged to play, let alone finish the game. Halo 2 is great, but I'm let down by the Campaign mode. Online is great, but.. for how long?

Had a ton of fun with Burnout 3, both on and offline. Same with NHL2K5.

I dunno, it's a tough choice, I agree with Drinky's prognosis.
