I love Huckabees in only 4 theaters. Eat shit and die hollywood. Ive never see na movie with such a great cast and so much marketing get such a shitty release.
Im pissed off. Now I have to see Shark Tale tonight *shudder*
Not even the voice of Martin Scorsese is enough to get me to see Shark Tale.
Re: Ladder 49: I'm starting to like Manohla Dargis, the new NYT movie reviewer:
Pegged as a true-to-life story, one meant to put a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye, this is essentially a male weepie about strong, simple men and the strong, simple women behind them, and as such it's platitudinous rubbish.
My local theater plays "WOMAN THOU ART LOOSED" but not Huckabees. OMFG.
What the hell.
Ive seen Huckabees trailers on almost every movie ive seen since July, and thats ALOT of movies. They have a dozen joke websites pertaining to the movie, a great cast that puts asses in the seats, a small budget which means a likely return of profit, and they have front page coverage on nearly every entertainment site and whatnot. 4 theaters and I cant find any info about a wider release. LOL
it's probably a "who's distributing it" issue. All theaters (for the most part) are owned by like 3 or 4 companies, all of which are tied to the major handful of distributors... so if THEY are not distributing it, why would THEY show it in their theater.
Yeah, I'm pissed about it also. I was psyched to see it this weekend. *sigh* Guess I'll grab Eternal Sunshine today, and skip the theater this weekend.

The thing is, it might be independant but it sure doesnt look like it. Things like Garden State or Napolen Dynamite I didnt even really know about untill you guys started talking about it. Huckabees is EVERYWHERE and has a big name cast, WTF.
My local theaters have it scheduled for a December 2nd release date. Shame too, I really wanted to see Jason Schwartzman, especially after repeated viewings of Slackers this past week.
