Smegging smeg of a smeg!
IMDB U.S. release dates:

USA 20 November 2004 (Los Angeles, California) (prermiere)
USA 10 December 2004 (New York City, New York)
USA 10 December 2004 (Los Angeles, California)
USA 25 December 2004

The word prermiere was there, it's not my typo.

This weekend is the limited opening, and they're not fucking around with the definition of the word "limited." At least according to movies.com, it's only playing in one theater in NYC too. Fucking hell.

You guys need to quit bitching; it won't even be playing in the rest of the country for another two weeks.

Where do you live? I could have sworn I saw it at the edwards in Alhambra. I stopped by the Johnny Rockets with a friend for a quick dinner and I thought I saw it on the board when I walked by. My crazy eyes are failing me. *_*

For the record, Life Aquatic also totally rocked.

Very different from typical Wes Anderson fare (yet still familiar) but funny as shit. I don't really know how it comes to his other movies, though. It's substantially more fantastical than any of his other films, which does make the dramatic/emotional aspect of it less potent than in his previous films, but honestly, I was grinning for almost the entire movie. So I loved it.

I'll need to see it again, though, before I can really determine how it stands.

Oh, and it needs to be noted that Willem Dafoe totally steals the show. :lol

First tragedy, then farce.
Im pissed. His other movies have allways gotten at least one screen in Austin during the limited run. Im really pissed right now. About half the time they say its been released in New York and LA there are a handfull of other cities that got it also.. and we are usually one of them.

a two theater limited release is really really wierd.

My brother and I were the last two to get in of 600 who showed up for an advance screening. The amount of action in the movie is what shocked me.

The "action" was funny as shit. :lol

The one positive thing about there being only one theater on either coast playing the movie is that everybody in the audience "got" it, which probably just helped to make the movie even more enjoyable. Everybody clearly went out of their way to get there to see it (and it was a midnight show too...all the earlier shows had sold out in the morning), so it wasn't your random suburbia movie-moron public who would probably just stare and say "this is stupid--let's go see National Treasure."

Ah, found it... but it's not near me either -- it's a 20 min drive away:
20 mins is a long way to you? Man, EVERY movie theater here is 20+ minutes away (well, there is one that is about 10-15 minutes away, but it really sucks).
