What the topic says. This way we can share our pointless and regretable purchases :)

I just bought a monster ipod audio cable (overpriced, whoo!) and had to buy a new surge protector (again, went with a monster cause I'm stupid).

So now I can listen to my iPod's music on my stereo in my living room, which is super close to my office with my computer and iTunes (both in the same room, I live in a smaller downtown apartment).

Total cost with tax: $102.something CDN

There's no such thing as completely pointless. But this comes close:

Well, I don't believe anyone needs a portable 8-guitar stand that folds down into a handy carrying case. So my post stands. Total cost: £80.

Edit: Oh, and from the product listing...

# Takes 8 electric or 4 acoustic guitars
# Plush interior
# Accessory compartment
# Black vinyl finish
# Ideal for Stage or Studio
# Dimensions when closed (mm): 1080 L x 530 W x 130 H
# Guitars not included

Doh!

This does sound much better than playing the music on my computer's speakers though!

Probabaly cause $1000 stereo system > $80 computer speakers.

Plus it's behind me, so it's very nice for ambience.

A brand new Gameboy Advance SP from my friend for $40. He didn't want it.

I'm now stuck with... *counts*... 8 ways to play GBA games.

A violin, which I can't play. Long term it might get some use, but short term it was a waste of $150.

I have a viola I can't really play despite 2 years of lessons. We're only like 2 pieces away from forming a string section that can't play their instruments. That would be so punk rock.

I rented a viola over the summer.. I should have taken the hint. I couldn't rosin up the bow correctly then, I can't do it now, and even if I could, have to be taught bowing and fingering. I can't even accurately play a piece pizzicato. Until I have time to take lessons, it's just going to sit and rot.

$300 Acoustic guitar

I know $300 isn't a whole lot for an acoustic guitar, but I'm not even that good at guitar. I just decided one day that I needed an acoustic, so I went out and bought one. Probably shouldn't have, but when I do actually play it (like twice a month), I'm glad I bought it.

I haven't made any recent pointless purchases. I know I will sometime soon though as I now have some income.

2 things:

1) I needed an xbl headset, so I bought the cheapest one. Of course, it didn't include the actual connector to plug into the xbox controller - you had to have a mad catz controller to use it (you can guess what brand it was).

2) DVD calibration disc for my HDTV. I can't tell a diference at all.

I just bought a Sega Saturn off of eBay. I never played with the old one, but it doesn't work anymore. But I might WANT to play Madden '97 sometime. Who knows? :lol

Blast Corps. It was $4.59 after tax, and it was the only N64 Rare game I had never tried other than Mickey's Speedway USA. Gonna return it though. :|

where to start. $120 on a 1gb memory stick for my psp. watching movies on that sharp little screen is very novel, but i think i'm just doing it because i can. oh, and the gamecube component cables. they look a bit nicer than s-video, but i can't imagine why i was so eager to spend $40 on them.

Eating out. My god I waste $40 + a week eating out, and I don't have a job and am going to school. Goodbye savings.

I traded my Cowboy Bebop DVDs (I have a DVD burner anyways, let your imagination wander) for my cousin's PSP with the LCD add-on and a nice collection of Squaresoft games that he wasn't really using. And now I have it...in a drawer...never even had a controller attached. Why do I do these things? The Gamestop guy informed me he'd give me a whopping $30 for the system. I then promptly laughed in his face.

Hmm, what else. I have a Dell Axim 3Xi that gets left at home most of the time, a 30GB Nomad that's been in a drawer for probably a month now, I'm sure there's stuff I'm forgetting about. I'm just a technoholic. I go to Fry's, I see things that interest me, I kid myself into thinking "but the use I'll get out of it will more than make up for the cost" and then the awe wears off in about a week. I have a stunning inability to actually save money...

Bought some DQVIII figurines from the convenience store at the weekend. Got Yangus and Torode. Totally useless, but still quite cute.

Either my motorcycle or my plasma screen tv. Neither I need or even wanted and figuring I bought them weeks before I shipped off I've only used them both about 5 times.

:(
