What will be the first problems with Xbox 360 ?

We spoke a lot about the list of BC titles, and the launch games, etc...

What I'm thinking about right now, is what the first problems will be for the Xbox 360.

I think the first problem we will run into, at retail, are people getting the Premium Pack, and they will see a component cable mixed with a composite cable for the first time.

Imagine you don't even know what component is, and you get a cable with 6 endings. I'm pretty sure a lot of people will plug the red component output in the right speaker input and they will wonder why the sound is weird.

Second problem will be, I think, people who don't understand why some Xbox games work on the machine and some don't. They will call stores, thinking their 360s are broken.

NO GOOD GAMES LOL AMIRITE MICROSOFT AM TEH SUCK

Ok, now that someone said it(in jest) let's not anyone else say it. My personal bet is on the massive power supply evolving and wanting voting rights. I'm keeping mine in a box just to be sure.

- People will buy the premium pack then try to return it as defective because the controller is missing the wire to connect it to the front.

Asking which thing is the console the big ugly white thing or the big ugly black thing.

Nah just kidding. Now all say lol raiden t3h funny!

Somebody will find a bug in BC that crashes their game (eg Halo), posts onto internet gaming message board, wild accusations about 'M$' lying all over the place, Microsoft releases patch post-haste, haters complain about the 'patch-patch-patch' routine.

You have seen the future, sir.

You forget the part where someone figures out a buffer overflow bug in the emulator and uses it to run arbitrary code. Word spreads like wildfire over the internet, and before MS can patch it, half of the launch 360's have been permantently disconnected from Live to prevent the bug from being corrected.

Already said but...

Dust. But, the best is watching a PS2 user try to insert the disc on the left side of the tray when it goes in the right when using it upright.

I believe this news.

-Tons of photoshopped "proof" of 360 giving blue screen errors, catching on fire, etc.

-"OMG I herd in Japan 5.7% of all 360s come to life and rape nearby girls GO SONY"

-reports of headsets not working or buttons sticking (all falsified or rectified with a simple fix, of course)

Just so long as the fucking DVD drives weren't farmed out to the lowest bidder, they can have any number of other problems.

I'm still pissed about my Xbox DVD drive failing.

It's not as if every story like that has to be false, though.

Back when the original XBOX was released, I actually did witness one "kinda" catch on fire at a Funco. Do you remember those little plastic enclosed holes that they would stick a system in for demonstration purposes? Well, the XBOX was just a little bit TOO big for this one...but they stick it in there anyways. The thing was jammed in there are a wierd angle (so the power cord and video cords would fit. I assume the fan was either blocked or something actually got stuck in it, but regardless, there was this sudden smell of "electric fire" coming from somewhere. We noticed that the XBOX was now off and one of the clerks nearly leaped over the counter to check it out. There was some smoke coming from the Box.

It didn't actually start a fire, but it did start to smoke and create a rather strong smell.

That would not surprise me, seriously.

There's definitely going to be some retard that buys the Core Pack and wonders where the hard drive is too. Thus proving the name was an apt description for that particular package.

I'm guessing pets and small children getting sucked into the open disc tray and shot out the fans in the back will crop up sooner or later.

Who is making the DVD drive for this thing? I hope it's Samsung...

I don't see a problem with the size of the power supply. I fully expect the PS3 power supply to be as big as/bigger than this one. These consoles are gonna need alot of juice...

Same thing as last time.

Xbox 360 owners will pretend their drives last longer than PS3 drives, when both last approximately 2-2.5 years. Revolutions will of course last 20 years, but you won't know that since you don't own one.

THAT THEY DON'T HAVE NINTENDO GAMES AM I RITE GAF STYLUS FOR THE WIN

Maybe problems with the launch hardware. Like parts that overheated too much will refuse to work and so on. I expect there to be more break downs of Xbox 360 than the original but still less than PS1 and PS2.

Three concerns:

1. The powersupply; it's a house. I don't know where people are going to put it. I'm sure it gets pretty warm for just being plugged in; common sense tells me it's not a good idea to leave it sitting directly on the carpet. You certainly don't want that big ugly thing out in the open to clog up your space or to possibly trip over, but you don't want to shove it in the corner or behind something either, because as I said, I'm sure it will get really warm.

2. Ventilation. This thing is a beast. It's probably not a good idea to put it in an entertainment center, TV stand, etc. as that will likely lead to overheating. I know my XBox already gets a bit too warm for being inside of my TV stand unless I keep its glass door open at least halfway. Putting the 360 in there and leaving it on for extended periods of time could really hurt the hardware. Then again, those are two big 80mm fans I see... but it still may not be enough. Regardless, it then makes me wonder about...

3. NOISE. The 360 is using brand new, advanced, hot hardware. I doubt those two 80mm fans are Vantec Stealth brand. They're probably at LEAST 25-27dBA each. And there's probably an intake fan in the front that will make an equal amount of noise. This will probably be one LOUD console. Factor in the DVD-ROM spinning up at various points throughout your time playing and you will want to have your television or stereo pretty loud. I certainly hope you guys aren't planning to use the 360 as your DVD player. :lol

Haha, had not thought of that. I hope we get anecdotal evidence of this for the sheer humor value.

360 is the quietest console since Jaguar. Those fans are only so big so they can spin slowly and still cool the unit.

Xbox 360 dropping on a baby's head and crushing it.

I wonder if they'll put that warning in the manual again.....

Yes, and when you turn it on, infants will die, women will be raped, and villages will burn.

Summary of your post: "I'm not buying an X360."

Thank you for your contribution.

You were probably standing next to an elderly person with a flatulence problem. Better get that nose checked out. Or maybe you had a cold.

xbot dmg control to the max right here, that would explain me alone in the store (seeing how i manage) and how i have all my systems turned up and can hear the xbox360 fan over the gamecube + ps2 + xbox regular game menu music playing from demos..

No damage control here... You're probably just in denial that you suffer from an ailment such as tinnitus, causing you to hear a constant roaring noise in your ears. Ouch. Maybe you should have turned down the volume knob on the stereo when you were younger. Anyway, I'd have that looked at next time you're at the doctor's office.
