My little brother graduates in June. Since I'm not made of money I'm trying to save up now. I want to get him something cool that he'll actually use, but reasonably priced. So. If you were a 17 y/o city boy, what would you want?

Off the top of my head I'm considering

a. A PSP.
b. Some Converse Chuck Taylors
c. One of those combination MP3 Player/Digital Cameras(Any info would be cool. Only saw the SB commercial, so I gotta research)

I would consider a used car, but I have no money. And if I don't even have a car he for damn sure ain't getting it.

So are you considering 399 a reasonable price??

just money, man. straight up cash... it's typical for grad gifts, so it isn't considered an insult when they open up cash.

Sex. I know I would have loved if someone would have given me sex.
I was considering that. But I'm not trying to have him catch an STD that young.

I'll take to the Kitty Kat Ranch for his 18th and let him go wild though.

$50/hour, but no kissing on the lips and colors must be pre-separated
A big 'ole bag of weed for all his future college endeavors. Or at least the first month of them.

I got my brother a $100 Best Buy gift card when he graduated from high school. He was pretty set in the money department because of my folks and I figured he could at least use it to get something fun and, most importantly, non-educational.

My little brother is graduating too, I'm probably going to grab him a nice leather jacket. I'd feel uncomfortable giving cash to immediate family though.

I would shy away from electronics, as anyone who is dispositioned to want something of the like would probably have one and anyone not probably wouldn't use it often. Sneakers/jacket seem pretty safe though.

PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS PEINS oh god i am drowning in them
Swift kick in the head. I know a few (including myself) could have used one at that time.

As a rule, I usually give the HS graduates that are going on to college money.
I know all of my family did when i went to college. If you don't want to give money,
give them a cheap microwave or a tv.

I got a leather jacket for my grad; I love it.

It's hard for me to say that your brother would want I want though...
Money is your best bet.

Que? I was assuming the the PSP and MP3/Camera was around 200-300.

Well I'm not sure about this but many places are forcing a 399 bundle for PSP, with three games and an accessory.

De-icer, since there's never ice on your walks! :p

But honestly, straight cash is always good! I hate when I get things that I don't like, but obliged to accept them.

I graduated last year. What I would have wanted (but I already had):

An MP3 player/a TV/a nice lamp. :)

Get them a flash/jump drive. Extremely useful tool to have in college. I was gonna get this for my sister's graduation, but ended up getting it for her xmas instead. 1 gig of portable storage, bye bye floppies and whatnot. All of her friends are into it now as well. :/ But that leaves me empty handed on her upcoming graduation. drat.

Woah, people get gifts when they graduate from highschool?! All I got was a handshake from the parents. No party, no nothing =\

Give him cash, but put it in some kind of interest earning savings account he can't touch for ten years.

I wish I had started saving a little bit of dough back then.
