I've heard that Fruity Loops is good, but I'm looking for something that can be used to create something subtle and haunting. Any ideas?

My friend's brother has used Reason and made some really badass tracks with it. I've heard that some pros use it, too. It's quite pricy, though... I guess it depends how much you're willing to spend.

I've had friends who made stuff with Fruity Loops and Reason, and I was blown away by both, mainly because I didn't realize what great electronic music amataurs could make with normal computer software, I'd say the stuff I heard made with Fruity Loops was more impressive than Reason IMO.

BUZZ is the most powerful and cheapest (free).

BUT...to harness that power you should know a bit about music, engineering and not mind having full control of the music creation process.

FL and Reason are a lot simpler to use, and you might get stuff done faster as a result.

Last I used was Reason 2.0... but it is ungodly expensive. Great program tho and extremely professional.

I'm totally out of the loop now when it comes to creation so... there may be something better. Two year ago... Reason was the name.
