Not sure who drinks straight from the tap anymore but if so you can see where your city ranks. If you can't find your city you can look it up by zip code as well.

What, it's a rare thing in the US to drink from the tap?

I used to all the time but I had a doctor (years ago) tell me to buy a brita or some sort of filter. I don't think the situation has gotten better since.

Plus in DC they are always sending stuff out regarding stuff in the water and how you should run the tap for a little while after using hot water.

Only gripe I have with Chicago's water is how chlorinated it is. Sometimes if you just turn on the hot water you can smell it from the faucet.

Guess I should have worded it "not sure who drinks straight from tap without running it through a filter":lol

Maybe not as many people use some sort of filter like I had assumed?

My city exceeds the health limit for 5 chemicals, and exceeds the legal limit for nitrate D:

At my parent's home I just drink straight from tap, here in WI for college I turn it into tea then drink, I don't filter or drink it straight though.

I laugh at people who buy bottled water instead of drinking from the tap.

You have a clean, endless source of WATER! Oh, but let's not use that, let's drive to the store and buy some water!!

ctrl+f "MI"

a couple results, but nothing for Michigan. Drinking tap water with my breakfast right now and it seems fine. I normally use a britta filter but been too lazy to replace it a few weeks ago, so I just took it off.

Uh... tap water filters? Congratulations to the guy raking in the cash, I guess.

Or is the tap water really that bad over in the US?

Nothing from Colorado means this list is fails. Of all the tap waters I've had, Colorado Springs has the best. Those chemicals and pollutants make a delicious combination.

Wow, good on Bridgeport, I would have thought it would be way lower. I live half a mile from one of the county reservoirs actually. Maybe I should go have a dip sometime.

Here in Toronto, the tap water's quite good. But when I visit my parents in PA, it's quite awful actually, so it varies in the states.

Keep in mind the rankings have nothing to do with taste which is caused by light metal and nonmetal components. The ranking only has to do with if toxic chemicals and heavy metals exceed recommended standards, so a city could be full of copper/other horrible tastes but as long as arsenic/barium/etc levels are low be a high ranker.

My tap water is heavily chlorinated. I would prefer not to drink it for taste and health reasons.

You're crazy if you think all tap water is "clean". Neither is all bottled water. I remember reading they found acetaminophen and fertilizer in some of it, and stuff leeching from the plastic.

I just get it from the tap then filter it. I'm sure it's still not 100%, but at least it doesn't have that nasty chlorine smell afterward.

I get bottles of distilled water. I don't trust the water where I live. The cancer rate is pretty high where I live. It may not be the water, but I'm not taking any chances. I live about 50 miles from Oak Ridge, TN. I wouldn't be surprised if this whole area is at least somewhat contaminated from what they used to do in the 40s for the Manhattan Project.
