I remember seeing a piece on Appleseed on CNN last summer and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the US DVD version??

No U.S. DVD yet, but the Japanese DVD was been ripped and given subtitles a month or so ago.

This is one DVD I won't be buying whenever it does release here; the movie really isn't that great, and I love Appleseed. :\

It's better then the original, which isn't really an accomplishment of course. The story isn’t worth much, cliché-ridden and unlogical at times, but the movie makes it up big time with style, presentation and atmosphere. Usually I don’t bother with movies with weak plots/characters (and most certainly not anime), but the visual beauty of Appleseed left me in awe. I like the style, not only the action (which is pretty cool) sequences, but also the way Utopia/Olympus is presented. And the music is awesome too. I’d recommend it too everybody who can live with ‘style over substance’ beacause style it has.

Aye, we had the HK version about a month back, before we ditched out HK section.

It's ok. Not as good as some people have said, but not as bad as some people have also said :lol The CG is worth it though.

It definitely has some 'Oh shit!' moments, and is just absolutely gorgeous.

I don't get why the spider tanks attacked tantarus though.

Just saw it this afternoon. The CG visuals were awesome to behold, and the details were striking on the big screen. Everything looked solid and had weight to it. The story, on the other hand, has been told numerous ways before (mankind's struggle for the future, tolerance, societal changes, etc.), but was engaging since it looked so good.

Too bad it was presented with English dubs, and not in its native Japanese dialogue with subtitles. The voice-acting was kinda cheesy at times, and the actual lines could have been a lot better.

A fun and provactive anime presentation all around. See it if you can! :)

The mobile tanks were sent to destroy the D-Tank atop Tartaros as it housed the virus that would wipe out and erase all human life. It's all those Elders doing. :p

Saw it last week in Chicago, loved it. The CG was integrated brilliantly and being completely unfamiliar with the story before hand, I enjoyed it. I wish it was subtitled, but the dub was ok.

Better than the last Anime i saw in the theaters, Ghost in the Shell 2.

Innocence shat all over Appleseed. But I only say that because I am a huge Mamoru Oshii fanboy :lol :D
