It looks like it's coming out in Japan this October under the title "Frontier Stories".
Has anyone spent much time with the English version? How is it?
Yeah it looks like they almost tried to make the Japanese version look good with the new name/logo and all the art shown in Famitsu. But was the US version worthwhile or what?
It's clever and worth a try, but the pathing's a little broken -- you'll wonder what your group's holdup is and back track to find them all stuck on 1 pixel of a corner. Very well may have been fixed/improved if they're going to such great lengths with the rest of the package, otherwise try and stick to right angles.
Pac-Man has better path finding than CIMA. It totally ruins the tension and atmosphere of the game (which are otherwise top-notch) when your party members get stuck in a corner.
I'd still recommend it for the storyline: CIMA doesn't want to kill you, they want to feed off your despair.
BTW why was this delayed for Japan? Assuming it wasn't for the AI. Wasn't the Lufia team behind it?
Beautiful, great idea, flawed to the point of being almost unplayable. Don't pay more than $10, or however much you're willing to pay for something that's going to look neat on your shelf and not much else.
Wow, surprised this hasn't come out in Japan yet... anyways, I was one of the few I know who actually managed to play through the game It has some interesting concepts (you basically act as a guardian, protecting a bunch of people as they make it through mazes), but its execution is flawed. The pathfinding AI is really bad, but can be overcome if you're really good at determining 90 degree angles and diagonals. The hit detection when you swing your sword also feels a little off, making some of the tough bosses next to impossible (the second to last boss is next to impossible
especially since you're forced to use a character you probably haven't powered up
. It's worth at least trying though, the story was somewhat cool and the characters have more development than the average GBA RPG...
Maybe they fixed some flaws in the Japanese version?
