What's with fake spinners on wheels?

So what I gather is that:

"fake" = add-on to existing rim; doesn't necessarily match

"real" = integrated into aftermarket rim; always matches

Whether real or fake, they're still a dumb idea for performance considerations.
More unsprung weight = worse ride & handling.

Anyone who can afford spinners doesn't give a damn about quarter mile times, track times, or wear and tear on some tires. They are just as likely to just buy a new car outright than to replace tires.

Spinner riders aren't the carbon fiber hood, intake, exhaust (well unless it's flowmaster) Nitro. Group this people are generally as polar opposite as you can get from that group.

Matches is a subjective term (at least to me) even with Davins and Sprewells I still very rarely see spinners that I generally like. They usually have a stupid design.

For me to like them generally they have to be flush or recessed inside the tire. Those are hard to find and usually run in the 25K to 30k range.

I see cars here in Charleston, SC all the time with wheels that cost more than the car itself. My biggest pet peeve is giant ass rims on like an accord. There's one in my parking lot that has Dubs on it, and it sits all high off the ground becase the wheels are wider than the stock wheels. Looks insanely stupid.

That said, I'd never spend 10 grand on rims anyway, and I'm not a big chrome fan. But then again, I like sports cars and coupes, not trucks and SUV's.
