I couldn't find a link, but there was this one AMV made in 2004. It was a compilation of Miyazaki movies up until Princess Mononoke with Loreena Mckennitt's Mummer's Dance as the BGM.

Unquestionably the best.

Second best has to be DarkaoZ's Demon Mythology

Is this a good anime?

I mean, I know the plot and whatnot will suck but is it worth watching just for the battles/animation?
100% yes.

Just know that Maka gets like only one well animated battle(1st ep) and the rest goes to Death the Kid and BlackStar.

Nostromo and that princess tutu amv were mentioned, so I don't have much. I like the I wish I was a lesbian amv bookmarked by flcl clips, a bebop amv set to a song called stress, and the ddr animix stuff is pretty nostalgic.

That, and my friend made a hilarious Utena amv set to It's Raining Men.

(And if fan parodies can be mentioned here, go watch Eva ReDeath, it's pretty silly)

Needs mentioning

Every Anime Opening Ever
and it's sequel
Not Every Unique Anime Opening Ever

greatest amv ever made assuming manga panels count

i was so hyped by this when i was but a lad, reading berserk for the first time

That was ... unexpectely awesome =O

My favorite is without a doubt Auriga by Nostromo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lvy858RFbE

Though if you want to watch it do yourself a favor and download the 60fps version from here: http://www.nostro.fr/amv-auriga/ it's the best experience I had from a AMV so far. :)

This Nostromo person KNOW how to make Music Videos !

But my favorite is Binary Overdrive ... the surrealist imagery is just so awesome =3

WOW that brings me memories !

Amv's are so fun. I haven't looked at them in a while, but heres a few of my favorites from a while back.

That was a cool Trigun/Coboy Bebop crossover

When i read Trigun/Cowboy Bebop crossover, i thought my favorite had been taken

but no, this ones different. First time i'd ever seen the two series crossed up, and it blew my mind. Especially when Vash puts on his glasses and you see Spike reflected in them.

and since we all seem obligated to post at least one DBZ amv...

Song: Offspring- the kids aren't all right

I'm not much of a fan of Anime but when Naruto first hit cartoon network and everyone went crazy for it I was convinced to watch the first few seasons.
It was ok, much better then most anime I had seen.

Then my friend showed me my first AMV, the Naruto vs. Saske fight.
Not sure what it was called but I thought it was pretty cool, aside from what i think was Linkin Park..which I'm also not a fan of.

I forget the name of the video and such but I do remember them fighting on the surface of water and Naruto letting loose the Nine Tails and such, was pretty cool I guess.

This is my favorite AMV ever, it's called One Piece in 6 minutes if you've watched One Piece you're going to love this video if you haven't, please watch the video (it has spoilers), it covers up to the Whitebeard war.

Because it reached 1 million, he's going to make a better version of this film, without jumping Franky nor Brook.

Would love for GAF to see the video. I know most of the things posted here will be ignored but I promise you this is one of the best you're going to see, if not, I'll eat crow and apologize.

Yeah I agree Nostromo sure knows what he/she is doing, imagine a game with their skills, I'm sure this would end up awesome! :D And nice pick you have there, Binary Overdrive is my second favorite work from Nostromo.

This is actually the correct answer. Such a magical amv. I am severely disappointed in myself for forgetting this. Probably because the youtube ones were taken down. No worries though, dailymotion to the rescue.

One of my favorites as well. The Epica mix of the Pirates theme is what takes it to another level.

If you're caught up on One Piece this one is really good too. The ending is so perfectly synced. Get's me hyped every time.

Really good, wish it was longer though but it is a trailer. I can't wait to see what new AMVs will be created with the adventures of the New World, also, can't wait for Punk Hazard on anime!

Håll Om Mig.

Accept no substitutes.

These two are probably my favorite. I can enjoy AMV's even with song's and bands I don't care for when they are timed and edited so well.

Few other ones I like.

Mamboleo - All the good stuff from the 90's (and slightly after) - It's bubbly, it's old, and I love it.

Mitternacht (Hellsing, Vampire Hunter D, and Blood the Last Vampire)
- Technical timing on this one is fantastic.

Black Parade - Gurren Lagann - I not fond of MCR, but this AMV was done well enough to actually like this song, just becasue it reminds me of Gurren lagann now.

Inside Dungeons and Dragons - There's dozens of anime set to this, but this was the first, and remains the best.

On Your Mark - Totally cheating, but totally counts.

Surprised to see a couple classics not mentioned so far. Someone did mention Koopiskeva but I didn't see a link to "Euphoria...

"Euphoria" - Rahxephon - Frou Frou "Must be Dreaming"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZO30DX1TrQ&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL9F68BCFB3C2624BE
Still considered the best AMV ever.

"Trust" - Kenshin - Megadeath "Trust"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvyQqhWtAO8
For the longest time this was the best AMV i'd ever seen. It hovered near the top of AMV.org's rankings forever. Not sure anymore.

"Cowboy Beebop 007" - Cowboy Beebop - Some song from Die Another Day.

My personal favorite for best use of editing.

Someone else already posted these but these two will always have a soft spot in me because they got me hooked on AMV's 10 years ago...
Asuka Engel - Rammestein - "Engel"

"Plowed" - Sponge - "Plowed"
