I love the instant packets since they're so convenient. Some people say their not as healthy as the slow iron cut stuff, but the only criticism I see is tied to the sugar content in these, so I get the low sugar instant varieties.

What about you?

Quaker instant Apples and cinnamon.

Nowhere near as health as getting some steel cut oats and adding my own stuff but... it's ready in 30 seconds and tastes okay.

Steel cut, or whatever. It tastes better to me. Takes a few extra minutes to prepare, but it's good. Can top with butter and maple syrup, or honey and milk, brown sugar w fruits, whatever man just eat it.

i consume most of mine in the form of walnut chocolate-chip oatmeal cookies, which is my favorite combination.

if walnut isn't available, I'll settle for almond or some other nut. But walnut is best.

Plain quick cooking, just add some salt, water, microwave. Fast, cheap, filling, has been my go-to breakfast for over a decade.

Can someone tell me how to cook the perfect oatmeal? Tried steel cut, rolled and quick cooking, made it with maple, honey, cinnamon and chocolate and I'm always left unsatisfied like there is something missing (I'm i cooking it wrong?).
Edit: not all at once, once with maple, once with cinnamon etc...

Steel-cut oats slow-cooked in milk and honey, with a bit of cinnamon. That shit is a breakfast revelation. They take a while to prepare, but the time is totally worth it. If you have leftover oatmeal, just refrigerate it and form it into patties while cold and fry them up the next day like you would with grits.

Steel cut is my favourite, they have a texture that cannot be matched by even rolled oats. Quick are okay if I'm in a rush, but sort of a last resort.

My Zojirushi rice cooker is the easiest way to make steel cut oats - slow cooker works too but it's harder to clean up after.

Scottish style fried porridge

Steel Cut, cooked with water and salt, then left to set in a square dish then sliced and fried with bacon, egg, sausage, black pudding, tomatoes and mushrooms

heart attack on a plate, but you need to eat very little for the rest the day

Steel cut, throw it in rice cooker and cook in poridge mode, with water, chia seed, job's tear. Then every morning I scoop some out, add some almond milk, microwave for two minutes and add some semi sweet dark chocolate and milled flax seed. It's heavenly and crazy filling.

Takes longer to cook than quick or instant oatmeal, but the end result is worth it to me :-) Once finished cooking, I add a little milk, drizzle some honey, a teaspoon or so of brown sugar, and some plumped raisins.

It isn't "not as healthy". Refined oats have no health benefits because the processing strips all its nutrients.
