When is this ps3 info embargo going to end?

Anyone think sony is going to even bother saying anything prior to the 360 launch? I personally just want to see some more Heavenly Sword footage and learn a bit more about the RSX. I sure as hell hope they will say SOMETHING in november. This wait is getting ridiculous.

I do think they'll say something before the X360 launches. I mean I can't imagine they'd let the launch just pass by without doing a huge blast of media a day or two before to try to sway people off of an X360.

But maybe the system really still isn't far enough along to show much atm.

Don't expect anything before CES jan 5th to 8th.
Personaly Im expecting alot to happen at that show. I think it was Phil Harrison who said that the PS3 would have it's playable debut there a few months back. CEO Stinger is actually showing up and not just Sony PlayStation, but everything Sony. I think it will be big.

I think nintendo themselves are trying to figure that out at the moment. There is a fine line between innovation and garbage, nintendo crossed it with the revolution, and it will show.... but that alas, is an entirely different topic.

I don't know. CES is a weird place for sony to showcase the ps3... I would expect a more exclusive sony event just for the ps3.

embargo lololol..

Whats so funny? I never said its a press embargo. Its a sony internal embargo.

you want another MTV special?

Same here. Thats my most anticipated PS3 game, besting MGS4.

Oh and err, whenever it gives them the best publicity edge. Not before the X360 launch IMO, its not like they could deter anyone, or even if they did, there would be others to make the launch a sellout.

Even though i'm sure that's a joke, I don't think they really need a regular control like that when they have Eyetoy. It opens up alot of different possiblities when it comes to controlling your character and other things. So they've got that down. Bring on Eyedentify

In which direction were they moving when they crossed the line? :P

lets start a protest!

"RELEASE THE PLAYSTATION THREE! RELEASE THE PLAYSTATION THREE!"

I don't understand why the rush anyway PS3 isn't coming out until at least Christmas 2007 so they don't need to show much now

Hey Doube D, I'll IM you when there's some news. You can go back to watching your continuous loop Killzone 2 trailer now.

Hey now, be nice. Some people like their continuous loops of Killzone 2, others Gears of War, and still others... uh...ummmm... Revolution commercial.

You get the idea.

I love the mysterious Sony though. Spring 2006 is still the official date, but everybody and their grandmother knows that's not happening. I wonder if they'll try to act like they ever meant to release it then. "We regret to inform you...". CES for some info and possibly footage. E3 2006 for when they come out of their embargo :lol

Ok, Im looking up the word Embargo in my English-Norwegian wordbook here and it describes it as import/export and 'something forbidden' and making 'claim on something'.

English ain't your first language or what, losers?
lol

I can't find "second party" in the dictionary either, but that didn't stop it from becoming one of the most (ab)used phrases in this generation's war.

umm, wow, I don't know if you people are being serious or not....

but just in case (from answers.com):

em·bar·go (ĕm-bär'gō) pronunciation
n., pl. -goes.

1. A government order prohibiting the movement of merchant ships into or out of its ports.
2. A prohibition by a government on certain or all trade with a foreign nation.
3. A prohibition; a ban: an embargo on criticism.

tr.v., -goed, -go·ing, -goes.

To impose an embargo on.

[Spanish, from embargar, to impede, from Vulgar Latin *imbarricāre, to barricade : Latin in-, in; see en–1 + Vulgar Latin *barricāre, to barricade (from *barrīca, barrel, barrier, from *barra, bar, barrier).]

Now please let me know where I made a mistake in using the term............

As much as i thought your revolution controller comment was shit you are correct in the use of the term embargo.

Sony do have an embargo on new information - they are not releasing any after all. It seems that some people here have already miss-understood the word to mean "information that has been released to the press but the press are not yet allowed to release" rather than a general ban on the release of information from the company itself.

you gotta expect this kinda thing from pompous games journalists though :P

Yeah, everyone and their grandmother.

Classic internet. Repeat some spurious made up shit often enough and it becomes fact. Then you can use it to base other spurious made up shit off. What fun!

Hmmm it is widely used in contracts and such. First and second party agree upon someting and sign a contract, third party oversees it if there is any.

Dunno. It's unlikely, but I'm still hoping for a March 16th release date in Japan to go along with FFXII which will have features made with PS3 BC in mind to add AA and stuff :)

A better looking FFXII would sell more PS3s than any PS3 game they could possibly have at launch :P

But in the case of game developers (say for the PlayStation) the jargon use is; Sony inhouse developed games would be first party, independent game houses payed by Sony to develop games for the PlayStation would be second party and game companies developing games to tap into the PlayStation market (without monetary support from Sony) would be third party, yes?

That is how I see it and I dont know why people get upset when somebody says second party.

I don't think anything about CES is confirmed, except that Stringer will have a presence.

Going by the "official" timetable from the Playstation Meeting, the next major milestone in terms of publicity for PS3 is the February convention/conference (PS3-dedicated, I assume, ala the pre-launch PS2 show in 2000). I'd expect the whole shebang then - playables etc. Really, that's not that far away - just 3 months (I think the idea of it being "next year" makes it seem forever away, hehe ;)).

Alas they crossed prior, with their sad feature mishmash/hodgepodge attempt to slow portable emulation by using unique features. Yet they managed to attain good sells, it just has to be the high psp price, there's no way they can get away with such uglyness against the beauty of the psp.

Because Sony's not banning or prohibiting anyone from releasing info, they ARE the ones not releasing info. The word embargo means some higher governing force preventing the lesser pawns from doing something, not that governing force choosing not to do something themselves.

edit: actually, I'm seeing how you used the word could make sense -- if Sony is preventing other companies from releasing new info on their games, then there is an embargo. But the way I see it, the companies just showed stuff at TGS. They don't want to waste their time preparing more stuff to be released when their biggest concern is just getting the games finished. Releasing new content is a bad idea if the content isn't polished. So it is their choice not to release info, not Sony's. (I have no idea if that's the case though)

They can, and they are. Awesome games >>>>>> 'beauty.'

(note: I'm not saying DS > PSP here, I don't own either but just stressing that good games > graphics + console design)

And for the sake of jebus people should stop talking about rev like they know every thing. Not a SINGLE GAME has been show. Of course if spec/graphics are your only concern then I guess yeah you guys are right - next-gen Zelda will be garbage. ::rolleyes::

That event was cancelled a while back. Now they are planning an even bigger event in March or something. So ya we will have to wait till March 2006

No I think that was a misunderstanding. The feb event is still on.

That was reported, but then corrected I think. The event wasn't cancelled but apparently they're taking a "different approach to it" than originally planned. Did you hear elsewhere it was delayed till March?

oh no, you guys are right. I think they will probably do a stunt or two right before the X360 launch, maybe release some new screens or info etc.

sony is hoping to have playable or at least demoable games at CES... should be a good show.

I think they might use CES as a play to announce more about the PS3 and they'll use the February show for the big unveiling of the games. Like Tekken Tekken Tekken!

hehe you are expecting big things from the next tekken eh? We will see how it goes, I am sure it will look nothing like the teaser demo though. Since namco acquired the Unreal 3 engine maybe the next tekken will use it?
