The scenes of Jin upclose wouldn't occur during the middle of the fight because you don't get the extreme closeup to see sweat dripping down his skin like that. Something like that would only occur during the endings or victory scenes. But a model the quality of that above image doesn't seem at all out of range for gameplay.

Are we expecting Tekken next to be a PS3 launch title? If so no, I don't think they can achieve that quality because their next gen efforts on the other system have been very weak so far. It will take some time for Namco to get accustomed the hardware.

I think the next Tekken will have much higher polygons, better looking stages than Tekken 5 but it won't be a huge jump because of time constraints

Hey I am not bashing anyone. Namco is one of my fav devs and I both Tekken and PS very much. If Namco's other next gen games looked awesome I would believe that the next tekken would look as good as this:

but the fact is that their next gen games look very poor therefore the next next tekken won't present a huge leap in graphics as you are expecting.

I guess we will have to wait till Feb 2006 to find out who is right.

That's the part I don't get, why are you basing what the Tekken team will do on what other teams are doing? There are other developers who have a bunch of ok looking games and then have a 1 or 2 amazing looking games.

Add to that the tekken team have had years to refine the character models. It won't take that much extra work to reach those renders.

screw the other teams. People from the Tekken team are working on FCK, what does that tell you? Namco's shader expert also worked on FCK and look at that game dude! It has terrible shadding effects. I am 100% convinced that it will take a while for Namco to get used to the new hardware.

I agree with Doom_Bringer .. if the next gen. Tekken is a Japanese launch title for PS3 (and PS3 is indeed launching in Japan in spring 2006) .. then there's no way Tekken characters will look as good as that Jin video they showed @ E³ 2005 ... I'm not saying it's not possible for the characters to look that good on PS3 hardware ..... if next gen. Tekken is released in 2007 (or possibly late 2006), then I wouldn't be surprized if the characters do look roughly as good as what was shown in that Jin video they showed @ E³ 2005

Tekken 5 bombed in NA. It sold like 200, 000 units, Namco is expecting FCK to sell 1 million units...

In case you haven't noticed, quite a few of Namco's recent sales expectations have been out of whack with reality. Unless you show that Namco intends to revise their expectations down for the next Tekken, you haven't proven anything here.

Exactly, I agree with you. Its one of Namco's flagship series, to say that they will go lax on development for it doesn't sound right.
