That statement is pretty ignorant itself. You could say every month seems like it is. But to say it is is ignorant.
Black History Month is an explicit appreciation and awareness for black history, which is well and good, it has its legit reasons for existing.
But not everyone (except racists, etc) is explicitly celebrating white people the rest of the year. For various natural reasons, 'white people stuff' gets talked about more. But saying every month is 'White History Month' implies society as a whole is going out of their way to talk about white history and ignore others'.

The months are attempts to raise awareness about the accomplishments and experiences of Americans whom are largely ignored or have been written out of our history because they didn't fit the status quo. Are people trying to be willfully ignorant in here, what's the deal.
I don't know if I buy that. The history books I read since grade school for American history talked about relevant people to the history of this country regardless of where they were from or what color their skin was. It talked about white people like the Founding Fathers and the pilgrims, but black people like George Washington Carver, Martin Luther King Jr., Harriet Tubman, Rosa Parks, too.
It doesn't seem like the month exists because of a surplus of "white" history.

Not a surplus of white history but rather a dearth of other history. I was honestly surprised and slightly embarrassed how little I knew about early American history despite aceing my HS history classes. (Elected for woman studies in college)

I'm black, but can not stand black history month. If you want equalization why single out any particular race? Why not just celebrate the human race and all of our accomplishments collectively? We are one species evolving together on this miraculous planet we call home.
We wouldn't if you actually learned something non-Euro-centric in any school that didn't require a massive tuition payment to be part of.

You know, to a white high school kid who didn't grow up around racism (like me when I was in high school), black history month really does seem odd. I grew up friends with a few black people, and a lot of hispanic people. Never noticed any racism. Never had any in my family. Didn't really think of the world that way.
If you're sheltered like that, something like Black History Month seems to foster racism. It doesn't in reality, but it seems that way. To a clueless high school kid, the ideal of a color blind society seems like the right answer. I'm sure a lot of the crap on that blog is racist. But it's not necessarily a racist observation to make. I know I used to think the same thing.

In a perfect world Black History would have been taught openly and honestly from the start. But guess what: That didn't happen. American history in regards to black people as it was taught in classrooms was whitewashed for decades.
