When the wrong couples got together

Oh boy, Gilmore Girls was a show full of wrong couples. They definitely done that intentionally, it wouldn't be entertaining if Lorelei & Luke got together in season 1 and lived happily without splitting up. Rory was even a bigger disaster when it came to choosing her partners.

Jess was the only one right for Rory and I think the one who knocked her up.

Their relationship and dynamic was fine before they decided to make Jan a bat-shit crazy Tammy prototype
She may have not been full on crazy yet, but the dynamic was still a bit awkward as Jan sometimes belittled Michael as his superior and him just saying and doing the wrong thing every time.

I think OP is right in that Jan was the funnier cast member, and there was history there with Michael, maybe they could have made that work somehow. She was written to be a foil, and Holly was written to be his perfect match, and thus is just boring because of course they get along they were written for each other.

My wife is watching Friends again and I'm catching episodes here and there and yeah it didn't hit me back when the show was on but man Ross is a total whiny shithead like 90% of the time. Like why are these people Friends with him.
They all are.

Because his sister is Monica who does all the housework for them.

I want to discuss a popular TV show my wife and I have been binge-watching on Netflix. It's the story of a family man, a man of science, a genius who fell in with the wrong crowd. He slowly descends into madness and desperation, led by his own egotism. With one mishap after another, he becomes a monster. I'm talking, of course, about Friends and its tragic hero, Ross Geller.

Almost every sitcom is about people being shitty to each other, Friends is basically a series of episodes about secrets and lies and then eventually people discovering the lies.

Look I'm just gonna say it: Ross Geller is a human testicle and my headcanon is Rachel strangled him in his sleep and burned the house down.

F Scott Fitzgerald and Zelda.

He was a lifelong alcoholic who needed a restrained partner to reign him in. Instead he got together with someone even more self destructive than he was and died at 44.
Yeah, but without Zelda there's no Fitzgerald in the sense that we know him today. She was his muse.

Which brings me to Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
Her getting together with the perfect rich tall well mannered super charming house owning doctor dude is the same stupid thing as Rory and Logan was, and it feels mary sueish.

Ross is a overly comical character and most of the time doing what he think's best for his friends.

Rachel on the other hand quickly turns into such an unlikeable character after Season 3. Writing a contract was just mental, and how she treated Ross is pretty cruel.. not sure why they made her into such a bitch.

They're both bitches, that's the joke.
