When you first start a new game, what difficulty do you always start with?

I'll be completely honest. I don't believe I've ever actually had that before.

I'm not much for desserts, especially not now that I'm a fatty fat fat.
Same, i hate torrone and dessert in general (i don't even eat my birthday cake or ultra tasty typical sicilian desserts, and we have a shitload of them), i'm more of a salty food type of guy.

I was just fucking with you.

To return on topic, is kinda alarming how many people play on easy or normal in a hardcore videogame forum, don't you get bored of fucking enemies up by smashing buttons in the majority of games??

I mean a lot of games are piss-easy even on hard and i can't even imagine how brainless they are at normal or easy...

I'm normally start with the default difficulty. I believe the developer should set default to be accessible but also challenging enough to show off the mechanic of the game. They should know their game much better than me just starting it.

Normal if I'm familar with the genre.

I play Easy if it is a game I'm not too familar or a puzzle game. I used to play Easy on Silent Hill.

I do quite like games that don't have a difficulty option at all though like Bloodborne because it forces me to play at the same level as everyone else.

Hard.

Games are baby toddler easy nowadays and have been since the PS3 era. Hard mode is the actual normal mode 95% of the time now.

I usually go with normal mode and then if the game is particularly awesome I will go back and try to do it on the hardest difficulty.

Either normal or hard, depending on which one provides a challenge but isn't too difficult. Some games scale too far so it varies.

Never do easy or insane.

Most of the time : hard like my D...

If there is several "hard" option, I never take the last one which is usually stupidly hard for bad reason. But there is some exception like Streets of Rage 4 :) (Even so I find the new Mania+ difficulty too much.)

But honestly I prefer when there is no difficulty option. Choosing difficulty always let me conflicted because I feel from your choice the experience of the game can be entirely different (in bad or good way).

Familiar gameplay usually hard. Definitely if needed to make a playthough to unlock higher difficulties. Unfamiliar, normal or easy.

Normal - to experience the original intent of the developers for regular, not too talented folks like myself.

Most of the time I start on upper middle difficulty. Hardened, for example, on CoD. I made the mistake of playing Days Gone on Hard mode, which is also upper middle. Shit got so difficult I couldn't get past one point. Can't change the difficulty setting, either reboot or keep trying. Very sadly, I walked away.

Nowadays there's usually a blurb saying which difficulty is what the intended vision for the game is. So either normal or hard.
