I am watching starship troopers and i noticed many parts were filmed in the LA Convention Center.

When I watch other movies I see spots I have been too before in real life. Anyone do the same?

I live downtown vancouver. A quarter of the movies I see I notice the locals.

Infact, Romeo Must Die was filmed in the same apartment building I used to live in.

Yeah Half Baked was completely shot in Toronto. The horse scene was shot just in front of the pizza pizza across from Sam the Record man.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse prominently features Toronto's own City Hall as Umbrella's office site.

Sideways.. All of the San Diego scenes and many of the LA scenes, especially early in the movie.

Otherwise, no. I've lived in many places but very few of them overlap with movie filming locations.

SeaBiscuit was filmed in my town and at the racetrack :). In fact, the real life story of SeaBiscuit happened in my town.

Otherwise, I live close to LA/Hollywood, so I see a lot of familiar places all the time.

I also live in LA. Pretty much everywhere I go has been in a movie.

The Convention Center was also in Face/Off.

The high school shots and the training grounds from Starship Troopers were filmed @ Kaiser Hospital Baldwin Park California where my mom works. That was cool.

Some scenes from Save the Last Dance were being filmed next to Columbia College in Chicago. I was going there for about a year and was able to be an extra. Im in the movie for like 3 seconds.

I used to live in Colorado Springs and Dee Snyder filmed a movie there (Strangeland) so I noticed those places. Jeff Daniels filmed a movie called Super Sucker in the town I live in now.

Aside from those two...nope

EDIT!!!!!

Out Of Sight was filmed in Lompoc CA and Detroit MI and I used to live in Lompoc and Detroit so I got a two-fer on that flick...I guess that goes for the beginning of Beverly Hills Cop, Robocop and Action Jackson as they were all set in Detroit...oh oh oh...and Collision Course with Jay Leno and Pat Morita! So yeah, detroit has a few.

I used to holiday at a private lake when I was a kid, my step dads rellies owned it. It's that bit where frodo runs and jumps onto the barge in the fellowship of the ring. That was pretty cool, I used to drive past the location for the big war at the end of the second movie every couple of weeks as well.

Peter Jacksons first movie BAD TASTE was filmed on the Paekakariki hill which is about 20 mins drive from the Fortress in the second movie as well. That hill is a total bitch to drive over.

Was the high school in Starship Troopers the Kaiser in Baldwin Park? Because it sure looked like it.

Goodburger was filmed in West Covina, where my grandma lives. When we visited, she took us on a little tour of where everything was being filmed.

Yep.

One of the interviews from Bowling For Columbine was shot in front of a Taco Bell in my hometown. :lol

Also the movie Bless The Child had an elaborate bridge stunt that was shot at the Can/Am border. Though I have yet to see the movie.

Everybody Loves Raymond takes place 2 towns over from here.

And I saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind at a theater in Rockville Center, not by any prior knowledge, just by coincidence.

When I saw the thread title, the LACC and SST were the first things I thought of.

That doesn't mean you've been to the locations in a fake sitcom

Toronto City Hall among others in RE:Apocalypse
Queen's Park among other downtown Toronto locations in Short Circuit 2
Roy Thompson Hall and Casa Loma in X-Men 1

And I've been to the Empire State Building and other US landmarks :p

Mustafar in Ep3 is actually my old high school. If you look closely at one of the lava droids, you'll see that it has "Property of Essendon Keilor College" written on it. They're used to fetch the lava kids into class.

But in all seriousness, i live in melbourne, so... some movies you guys might have watched... romper stomper? umm.... i think that new nic cage movie is being shot around here, i remember them blocking off collins st. in the city to do some night shots. I needed to use collins st. that night. idiots.

That gay jacky chan movie "mr. nice guy" was shot in the city as well.

There are a few shots in The Matrix I knew about.
- the scene where Trinity is blubbering on about how "you know where that road goes" as Neo's deciding whether or not to stay in the car - right next to Parliament House in Sydney
- The goth club scene was filmed in the Black Market Cafe
- The Woman in the Red Dress scene = Martin Place @ George St, Sydney. You can see the old Post Office building under construction in the background. I think it's still being worked on right now.
- The phone booth that Neo flies up from at the end of the film is right next to Wynyard station, just off Hunter Street; and it's STILL THERE.

Mission Impossible 2
- The building that Tom Cruise blasts a whole through and then base-jumps out of? Had a Christmas party there last year :p
- There's a scene in Darling Harbour, about 5 minutes' walk from where I used to live.

Collateral
- There's a scene where Jamie Foxx runs down into a train station - I think I've been there a few dozen times.

Visited a lot of the places where Rumble In The Bronx was shot. (Was shot in Vancouver)

It was at the parkcade where my friend practically broke my nose while recreating one of the fight scenes.

Not movies, a TV show. WonderFalls was filmed here. I watched it and pickedout the parts that were in the US and Canada.

I heard Whole Nine Yards was filmed here. Oh, and that movie where they blew up the Peace bridge.

I lived in Savannah, GA for a time and quite a few movies shot there. Notably Forrest Gump. That's a square, can't remember which one now but you can tell from the statue behind him. He is on a bench but the funny thing is there is no bench there and no busses stop there. In fact those are just oneway roads and most of the time you get stuck behind a horse drawn carriage.

Ash Housewares

The Mountain Jew
all the time, they shot tons of stuff around here

A Team
Power Rangers
CSI
Knight Rider
Sweet Valley High
some other crap

Girl Next Door was shot at the local community college

In Sydney? all your other bits said Sydney.....
If so, where exactly is that? The Sydney Airport train to circular Quay seemed a lot like that train. Am I even close?

I live in Chicago, so I see a lot of film locations.

The Fugitive is filmed all over the Loop, where I work.

Henry, Portait of a Serial Killer has a murder on lower Wacker, right by my old office building's garage entrance!

Blink, the Madeline Stowe thriller, takes place in a building I have been in a bunch of times in Wicker Park. It's not an apartment building in real life, but artist losft space.

My friend's woodshop was in a building that was used for the speakeasy scene in Road to Perdition, so went checked out the set after they were done. Pretty cool. It's 100-year-old building, and they made new walls that look exactly like the old, moldy, worn brick ones, but hollow!

High Fidelity has a ton locales I've been to, including a couple of bars.

Not a movie, but when Homicide: Life on the Street was on, it was cool seeing all of the Baltimore landmarks and neighborhoods I'm familiar with on TV every week.

Oh yeah, Ignatz's mention of Madeline Stowe reminds me that much of 12 Monkeys was filmed in Baltimore as well.

AFAIK, Robocop supposedly took place in Detroit, but wasn't actually filmed there. Living in Detroit for ten years, i couldn't pick out one location that was actually in Detroit, aside from the warehouse scene, which could've been in Detroit.

On the topic of Jay Leno, he drives one of his classic cars every year in the Woodward Dream Cruise in Michigan.

I been on the set of Troy" shaked hands with Orlando bloom and Brad pitt, oh and i was a "stand in" for that movie along with my friends, they are the girls that dances at the party in the beggining of the movie.
that beach where Brad runs towards the sun god Temple, i went swiming there yesterday :)

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
There was a recent movie that used West Hall entrance of the LA Convention Center as an airport -- I found that so fucking funny knowing what it really was. But I'm from NYC so any movie based in NYC, I know where it's at. A number of scenes in SpiderMan, for instance, were shot *right* in my neighborhood. When Peter Parker runs out of his school building and on to that street...that's Austin St., a pretty popular place here in Rego Park/Forest Hills. When he's chasing the school bus, that's Long Island City, right off of Queens Blvd. His block and his house (although a set) is a carbon copy of a street on Metropolitan Ave in Forest Hills.

The original Men in Black, at the very end, that's Flushing Meadow Park that they were at.

Funny that you say that. I live right down the street from The Vista Theater, which was where the characters watch Streetfighter movies in True Romance.

I think there's only a couple real shots of Detroit in that whole movie.

I'm the same too, but it's almost a distraction. I'll watch a scene where a character is on... say 23rd and 3rd, and then immediately turn the corner to 14th and University. I'm sure no else cares, but I'm like "WTF?!"

I used to live in San Rafael, CA -- could see the Marin County Civic Center (used in Gattaca) from the balcony of my apt. I love Gattaca, so it was a great view. :)

Haha, yeah. I found it soooo funny how when Peter runs out of the school he's on Austin St. in Forest Hills. Then when he's jumping the buildings 2 minutes later...but he's in Jackson Heights/Astoria. Hahaha which is the very end of Queens.

Boogie Nights was filmed almost entirely in my city.
High school scene was shot at the high school I used to go to.
End scene with the donut shop shoot out. Donut shop is still there.
Rollergirl beating the shit out of that one guy was filmed across the street from Donut shop.
Pretty much almost everything in that movie was filmed in the city I live in.
Reseda, Ca.

Awesome!

Me, not so much. I went to Prehistoric Forest as a kid, which is used briefly in Tommy Boy.

Been a long time since I've seen it, but I'll go out on a limb and guess Coal Miner's Daughter used some shots of actual locations like Hurricane Mills or Butcher Holler.

iceDragon7, how can you live in Receda and not mention The Karate Kid? :O although I don't know if it was actually filmed there.

The Firm (Tom Cruise John Grisham movie) was filmed in many Memphis landmarks--the Peadbody, Beale St., etc.

There's a terrible Ally Sheedy movie called Heart of Dixie filmed in my town of Oxford, Miss. Some old Faulkner adaptions filmed in Oxford too, but nothing anyone has probably seen unless your English teacher at Ole Miss showed it to you.

Little-known Robert Altman film Cookie's Fortune filmed one town over. Still hearing stories from a buddy from there, whose house was used for some external shots, of him hanging out with Liv Tyler and Chris O'Donnell. He said he got O'Donnell to sign a Batman & Robin movie poster and O'Donnell said, "that was the worst mistake of my career." :lol
