The most addictive console game series ever created is BACK!

Romance of the Three Kingdoms XI is already out on PC and is coming out to PS2 soon. That means we can expect a release in 6-12 months!

So let's get some excitement going!

That is the dumbest thing I have ever read on this forum. That's including the shit that I babble. There are 10 prior games to base our opinions on. And translations usually do happen when a game is released in a region.

And now on topic, I can't wait for this game. One of my favorite series ever. I still play ROTK IV on the PS1 occassionally. That was perfection for the series IMO.

I dunno, I really dig ROTK7. I would have to say Wall of Fire (4th in the series) is probabaly the second or third best compared to ROTK7 and maybe ROTK10 (A lot more historically involved)

This is one of those games that I refuse to try because I know I'll spend far too much time with it. :X

I wanted this to be on PS3, I spent so many hrs on ROTK10 with my created player, then with my created nation, then working for and making sure Lu Bu killed Cao Cao(man I hate him in that game).

Lol, then why post here?

It's like he stalks my posts :p

Anyways, what new features/improvements do you guys want for the series?

Here are my main one's:

1) MULTIPLAYER again! This is the only part of ROTK10 that makes it less than 7 or possibly 4.

2) Develop the southern tribes a bit and be able to have alliances or conquer/tribute them. Kongming's (Zhuge Liang) invasion and "adventures" in the south west tribe-lands is a huge chunk of the later story. May as well do the same with the northern tribes also. Perhaps you can have it where you are able to recruit characters from the lands or even play as them!

3) Better AI for Prefect's.

This ROTK games are the types of games I NEVER play the main game (historical mode), but instead make about a hundred custom characters and take over China that way. >.> I hear ROTK 11 allows you to select more than one city for you ruler in the beginning. Also allows you to choose your custom officer's voice, 3D model, and special skill. So many delicious hours to waste.. :d

The ROTK series is actually one of the only reasons I bought a PS2 for (used). Which is weird.. because the series is actually kind of tediously frustrating with poor presentation (translation, graphics, fairly slow interface..).. but I still love it nonetheless.

I really think I should play the main game one day. I would probably learn a lot more about actual Chinese history that way... instead of just me wiching death upon Cao Cao because he's a big fat cheater and I hate him. XD

Read the books and you'll hate but respect Cao Cao even more :)

Now remember that both the books and video games are HEAVY fictional versions of the actual history. In the actual history of the Three Kingdoms, Cao Cao is more likely to be considered the "hero" for bringing about the foundation for the change of dynasties.

The take on history the Three Kingdoms portrays was hugely influenced by the Ming dynasty. Making the kingdom of Shu (Liu Bei) to be the heroes of the story as it was written by a supporter of the Ming's when they were fighting against the Yuan dynasty. It was used as propaganda tool during the late Yuan and early Ming dynasty. It was a symbolistic struggle of Shu versus Wei, Ming versus Yuan, Han versus Jin.

Looks pretty cool. I've never played one but I was hoping the DS one would come out so I could pick it up. This looks like PS2? I'd buy it if they put it on Wii, mainly because I don't expect to play too too much PS2 after this holiday season.

...

There's also a PSP version of ROTK6, but neither the DS or PSP version will be coming out here. The PS2 version will be coming out for sure. There won't be a Wii version for a long time, if ever.

Sorry for being the one out on the rainswept hill, digging around in the soft, slushy earth for the corpse, but this thread needed a bit of a jump-start for the game's sake.

Who else is indulging in ROTKXI? As far as we know, no power-up kit for the English PC version as yet, but as it stands, the game still shines and runs brilliantly on even the most modest of machines.

And let's face it, Cao Cao...how can you hate a man with so much vision?!

I thought this was the best game in the series by a mile. There were only two things I didn't like -

1. The campaigns take waayyy too long. Maybe it was just because I chose a really tough one (Three Visits, and I didn't even end up getting Zhu Ge Liang) and played it on historical/advanced, but it must have taken me 80 hours to finish that beast. I wanted to play another campaign with a friend and it was just impossible - having two people sit there for 100+ hours - half of that being the other guy's turn - just isn't going to happen.

2. THE MUSIC - if anybody anywhere is threatening one of your borders, the battle music plays. Since this makes up 75% of the game once you've got a decent sized empire, you spend hours upon hours upon hours listening to that one 3 minute song. After a while I had to just turn the sound off - that song is still burned into my brain.

But other than that, it was the deepest game in the series, the integrated world view was great, the visuals were really nice, they FINALLY found a way to make naval combat matter, and I liked that town building wasn't just a menu option ("build economy" etc.).

Best turn-based strategy game on the PS2 or Wii, it's just a shame that the series is apparently done. At least Koei's bringing over the most recent Nobunaga game next month.
