Where's mah MGS4 Kojima?

I really wanted to see this as Sony's PC...even if it was 3secs of footage. Kojima's games always gives us a good indication of what's achieveable on Sony hardware a few years down the line, yet he shows it in first/second-gen. It's like a taste of the future maturation of Sony's platforms. It was sorely missed, here's hoping for a super kick ass MGS4 trailer for E3 2006.

I went down to the LA convention center to pick up my badge. After doing so, I ventured on over to the hall where the Konami booth is. To my surprise, the large video monitor was completely viewable from the glass doors so there I stood. A bunch of interesting game footage was shown and then it happened! Now, mind you, there isn't much more than a teaser and the technology was obviously current gen but the whole snippet was done tongue and cheek and will likely entertain the millions of MGS fans out there. Well at the end of the teaser, the screen said MGS4 on PS3.

I don't know if this info has already been posted but with the current state this forum's in...

BTW, MGA2 looks to be cell shaded and actually looks pretty interesting. Also, MGS3: Subsistence! is also on display which will offer a 3rd person perspective and online multiplayer. MG3:S looks to be PS2 only at this time also.

Brief description:

Starts off with Snake hiding behind a small brick building as a bunch of bad guys hover together in a large group on the other side.

A large bomb drops, destroying the building except the wall Snake's leaning against. After a slight pause, the wall falls forward and then the words "No Room To Hide" appear.

Snake starts running away with the enemies chasing close behind. They arrive at a circle of director chairs and it turns into a race to see who can get into all the chairs first. In the end, there's only one chair remaining and as Snake runs towards it, a badbuy runs passed. Snake grabs him and flips him over onto his back and as he turns to get into the chair another badguy sits down in it.

Snake then pulls out an AK-47 and obliterates the circle of enemies occupying the chairs. He turns towards the camera and pulls off his mask to reveal Raiden. Yes, Raiden. Now only one chair remains standing and as Raiden walks towards it. 3 lights (ala SplinterCell) approach the same chair from across the way. It's Snake dressed up in the SplinterCell goggles but the top color of the 3 light formation is red instead of green. He's using the trademark Splinter Cell stealth movement animation.

They race to the chair and begin to battle. Snake kicks Raiden's ass and he goes plummeting off the edge. Snake sits down to finally rest in the chair as it fades to black.

Now all of this teaser footage has many messages being displayed intermittent throughout. The models look to all be current gen models which is why I said "current-gen".

That's all there will be of MGS4 this year. That's what they will show at their Press Conference.

wonder if that implies that theres a bigger emphasis on light (and lack thereof) in MGS4, as opposed to just hiding behind/under stuff.

Probably not, but i would hope to see dynamic lighting in the next Metal gear.

Is there a feed for this? It'd make no sense if there's one for Nintendo but not Konami. Konami deserves it WAY the fuck more :P

Mr. Furious got pretty pissed off when someone called him a liar about what he saw so I'm hoping he was telling the truth.

Must have missed that part, well I hope he really did see a trailer. I want something MGS releated this E3, and no MGA2 doesn't count.

I think we'll have to wait for the TGS on September to see a small teaser and only at E3 2006 for the first full trailer.

Yeah, don't rush Hideo. Silent Hill 5 and Winning Elven 9 on the other hand! GIMME! :D

Is anybody reporting from this conference or anything? Seems to have totally fallen through the cracks.
That happens every year. Those of us who care about Konami sit around, scrambling to find out if it's started or ended or what exactly is going on...and then about 30-60 minutes after the conference ends screens and movies start showing up on GameSpot. Something like that. :P
