Where's that F-Zero GX screen from ?

I just messed around in practice mode and finally started snaking. It's awesome thing to get working, but it's a bitch to control. I'm going to need a few days of constant practice to make it completely effective, and I'll probably have to put the Wavebird away for F-Zero sessions if I don't want fuck up the stick and the shoulder buttons.

One thing that has prevented me from unlocking all the character movies is the fact that I just can't use some vehicles well. Like Black Bull. It's so difficult not to fall of the track while racing with it. I'm only good with vehicles with a high topseed, and decent grip, C or better. Favorite vehicles are Sonic Phantom, Hyperspeeder, and Big Fang.

Any tips on those cars with near zero grip? Should I be racing at high acceleration, or using my brake for my turns?

I personally suck with poor grip vehicles. My best friend loves them because he likes "the loose feel" (and you just know a comment like that didn't go unnoticed). Anyway my advice would be to set at around righe between acceleration and top speed for the more complex tracks and about 25-50% into top speed for the tracks with nice long straightaways. Other than that...E grips suck.

Besides the music, the only thing I didn't like about the game initially was the horibbly lose controls. Luckily in the options menu, you can tighten the controls. It would have really pissed me off otherwise. How many ppl here actually use the default joystick calibration? The slightest touch of the joystick and you turn very sharply ;p

I'd love to start playing this again but my backlog is big enough as it is.

I beat all the Master Cups but I never had the patience to get past Chapter 8 of story mode. And how SHIT is the very last track in the game? (sort of like a rainbow road style track)

Is it a track in the story mode ?

Looks fantastico.

This track was actually featured in the F-Zero cartoon series. What ever happened to that anyway? Is it still on? I thought it was pretty good (outside of "Jack"... did they pick the most annoying accent ever?)

Chapter 7 is the F-zero Grand Prix...You know...THAT one.

As for advice...Um... Retire Balck Bull at the very beginning. Memorize the track. Avoid the fire. Avoid Pico, Samurai Goroh, Zoda, Blood Falcon and Michael Chain -- They'll attack if you're close. Don't be afraid to hit the mines in the final stretch on the last lap. I only beat Very Hard because the mines threw me ahead of the first place car.

I hate that fucking chapter. It's the only one I didn't finish on Very Hard.

Dammit, all this F-Zero talk... I'm gonna have to bust it out again and unlock some more stuff. I didn't get the AX tracks yet, but they sound awesome.

The funny thing is Very hard on chapter 7 isn't any harder than Hard. Just takes a little endurance since it's onle lap longer. But yeah...Chapter 7 is the biggest bitch of all.

I'm confused.

If the default controls are "horribly loose", then "the slightest touch of the joystick and you turn very sharply" is incorrect. Horribly loose controls would mean that pressing a little bit on the joystick did nothing, and pressing all the way resulted in very slow movement. Tight controls would mean that even a tiny movement to the joystick would result in onscreen movement -- the joystick movements would perfectly respond to the on-screen movement, with no "dead" area (which would be a sign of "looseness").

Am I right here? Does "loose controls" mean something different than I thought it meant?

You're right, but I can see someone interpreting "loose" to mean pressing a little results in something not very noticeable, whereas pressing a little more results in a huge effect, errrr....

But yeah, you're right, no worries! :D

I heard it'd be pretty boring...
