Which box design do you like better, PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, DS, PSP, or GBA?

Just how the basic box looks. For instance, the DS has the large white panel with "Nintendo DS" on it, while the Xbox has the logo at the top with a little green X.

Also, do you think putting an "only for" logo on a game is tacky? Sony doesn't seem to be doing it for the PSP, nor is Nintendo for the DS.

I prefer CD-size cases like the Dreamcast had.
DVD size is not necessary, DS cases too thick. PSP cases are nice but not great for existing storage solutions. GBA.... meh.

Sony doesn't do it for PS2 either.

I agree with Jonnyram. CD cases are the best.

I do happen to like the DS cases, though. I think that if they were a bit slimmer, they would have a 'distinctive' look when you have a collection of them.

I like the JP gamecube boxes.
I prefer boxes a bit smaller than DVD and I haven't seen PSP ones yet.

I prefer Japanese GC cases, but I wish they were black in color and included slipsleeves like normal DVD cases instead of cardboard sleeves.

I also like the box presentation of the PSP and Japanese GC. Simply, easy to access, etc.

Yes. Best combination of durability and space conservation... however, Speevy seems to be talking more about aesthetics than overall goodness. In which case, they all seem pretty much the same to me.

As long as the manual fits in the case, I'm happy. That's one thing I hate about PC games, though certain PC DVD releases get it right. *hugs UT2004, flips off The Sims 2*

I like GC cases. They have the little lock slot on the bottom so that the good people at GameRush don't have to switch the cases out.

I like the Gamecube's boxes. But its a small nitpick, none of them are vastly different.

But at Blockbuster/work, its easy to swap the insert in the original case because they have a hole for the locks.

If Japanese boxes count, I like Japanese Gamecube and GBA boxes the most. If not, then plain old PS2 works. Not that PS2 cases are anything special, but they're easily the least annoying of the US DVD-sized cases.

I think DS cases kinda suck, though I'm glad they have cases at all.

I like Xbox's design, but it should be smaller and be able to have stuff stacked on top of it.

PS2 > GC > Xbox

i like the way PS2 case have the name of the game on the top of the case, like CDs. It gives you another way to organize, should you choose. From working game retail, i've learned to slip the plastic off and slide the disc through the side (bottom on CDs) while keeping the label intact. Gamecube boxes tighlty secure the disc in an almost scary manner. i prefer the Japanese boxes, which are smaller and emphasize the smallness of the disc, though i think the US boxes are better for size continuity, and perception in the US. The green color of the Xbox's cases looks extremely tacky to me.

DS = PSP > GBA

The square DS cases are somewhat oddly-sized, as they're just shy of a half inch shorter than a CD case, though putting those cards in a standard DVD case would be a waste of space. PSP is another oddball with a case vertically shorter than a DVD case, though it should provide a quick visual seperation from standard DVD cases when put side-to-side on a shelf, without requiring too much organization. GBA boxes are thankfully a thing of the past (except with the DS in Europe :( ). Carboard looks cheap and damages easily.

The DS cases are my favourites, DC cases were great awesome but they were too thick, if they were thinner my favourites would be DC.

Ugh, CD jewel cases blow chunks. The size is nice, but the cases constantly crack. It's pretty much impossible to get a non-cracked jewel case shipped through the mail.

I like DVD over Jewel Case because they are sturdier and don't break when you look at them.

I like the DS box because those GBA cardboard shits need to die.

All in all I wouldn't mind a CD sized case with DVD box construction, kind of a best of both worlds thing there.

I vote for GC cases simply for not being sealed with goddamn tape on every edge on new games.

Japanese GC cases, the plastic NeoGeo Pocket boxes or the early European PS2 cases (I like the black text on white background the spines on european games has but prefer the cases to be black rather then blue as most of the the current euro cases are).

For cardboard it has to be the japanese GBA boxes.

True. However the price for most easy to break case goes to the European Dreamcast boxes. Even if you bought a brand new game don't be surprised to find pegs ratling around in the box. And don't even think about sending one by mail unless you want it delivered in multiple pieces.

The cardboard packaging of GBA and N64 was total trash.

I like the DS cases a lot, I think they look nice and yet are small. Much nicer than crappy jewel cases. The insides are not that great though, don't like the media holder.

I like the DVD cases for PS2/Xbox/GC fine. Their all equivalent to me.

CD cases are too fragile, i like the dvd cases more. The japan GC cases are the best though!

Japanese PS1 jewel sized cases with that paper spine thingy on the side.

A simple PS logo in the corner:

I also like the Japanese GBA boxes (they're done in the same way as Famicom and Super Famicom) but too bad they're cardboard.
