Why are Gamecube games worth so much more than PS2 games

Its not just Gamecube vs Xbox. The Gamecube version of PSO is superior to Xbox, and it is the definitive online version (you can also play online in private servers like shitserver). But the Gamecube version costs way more than the Xbox version. Why do Gamecube games cost more than OG Xbox games?

Game Cube not only sold less but something I noticed at the time is that the image quality was really good compared to the PS2. A lot of games run at 480p and with a good component lead can still look OK on a modern display.

GameCube was an impressive piece of tech. It ran all the cutscenes in real-time while the PS2 had to use FMVs. Multiplatform games also tend to run better since the GC was stronger than the PS2. MMX Command Mission, Sonic Heroes, Need for Speed Underground, Killer 7 and Viewtiful Joe just to name a few.

The main answer (relative scarcity) has already been given several times, but it's also worth noting that some collectors are more likely to invest in retro platforms if they think they might be able to work towards a complete or near complete software collection.

This makes a platform like GameCube with ~650 unique titles more attractive/achievable than the PS2, which had thousands upon thousands of discrete titles released, many of which were shovelware.
