Which comic book movie *should* they make?

Scary Euro Man
With the flood of comic-to-movie conversions listed in another thread, it occurred to me to wonder which comics should (and possibly which should *never*) be made into a movie.

I'd love to see a good Transmetropolitan movie.

Equally, I'd have to hunt down and kill anyone who tried to make a Groo movie.

This done as an uncensored TV show would be unbelievably cool. I would also love for someone to do the Punisher right for a damn change, he's an awesome character that Hollywood waters down way waay too much.

They don't need to fuck up more funnybooks by converting them to the big screen, but if they absolutely had to here's my nominations:

The Savage Dragon - Big green cop beats up super powered villains plaguing Chicago, and gets all sorts of stacked comic gal tail. :P I'd suggest Walter Hill or John Woo for this one.

The Marquis - Guy Davis's awesome fucking book about an inquisitor who is ordained by his patron saint to kill the demons escaped from hell in his bizarre Victorian setting. Give this one to Christophe Gans (Brotherhood of the Wolf) to direct and I'll butter all the popcorn in the fucking theater!

Kingdom Come - ONLY! If Pixar or some other studio could create some means of creating CG that accurately recreated Alex Ross's pants wettingly good art. It's the seminal tribute to the icons of DC comics. CG only plz!

Aquaman - Uwe Boll and Ben Affleck, or Christopher Lambert as the man who talks to fish. The perfect comic book movie! :lol

Eh.. hit up the collaborations now. Justice League movies, Avengers, etc. At least that's what I'd want. Too bad it's licensing hell. Wolverine could be cool if they gave it a different tone and mood from the X-men movies. I'd love a more thoughtful look at him than X1 or 2. Also a fan of Watchmen, though I don't think they could ever do it right and it's not exactly made for theater material. Incredible Hulk as an action flick could be a hell of a lot of fun also. Why they decided to give him an overly thoughtful look, I'll never know. He's an immeasurably strong beast, who gets even stronger the angrier he gets! That's just perfect for a lot of ass kicking destruction. Wrong choice of a director for this movie. Should have assigned him to a deeper superhero. Anyway, I don't know what you got left. Iron Man? Captain America? They just need a good director. It's not the hero that will decide how good of a movie it is. Given a dedicated team, those movies could be some good fun.

Other than that, I'd love to see a Kingdom Come or Marvels (:lol in my dreams). Even a Kingdom Come by Bruce Timm would kick ass. Check out this fan art.

Oh, and another dream of mine, has always been that Marvel got the Bruce Timm treatment and fans actually had a good cartoon for those characters, where Timm would touch upon all their characteristics, personality, weaknesses, and strengths. Could have been bad ass, but I guess X-men will remain the pinnacle for Marvel cartoons. More "what if" fan art designs.

Hell yes

The Punisher is a cockbite.

I vote for:

Top Ten, just because it's bananas to even think of such a thing.
Wolverine (X2 rocked, but screw X3.)
Powers (An animated series would be keen)
The Legion of Superheroes (An animated series. PLEASE!)
I've always thought it'd be cool if someone could capture the 70's cheese of a Power Man & Iron Fist collab.

I concur. Preacher rocks!

Kings in Disguise! I don't care if you haven't read it, it'd make a great movie! Depression era drama about hobos!

Also! I thought "A History of Violence" would make a great movie when I read it-- and they made a movie of it! I'm pretty eager to see how it turned out-- it looks great.

While they're at it-- make a Superman movie based on "For the Man Who Has Everything" Commercial suicide, probably, since it lacks all the stuff superhero movies are supposed to have.

From my wife: Elektra Assassin, with sureal film stylings. Some animated and some live-action. Rotoscoping, manga-ish,, mixed media.

After watching The Incredibles .. I would like to see some quality CG or hand drawn movies. That way, we don't have to worry about so and so demanding more money to play a role, or this director getting burned out and moving on. A comic like the Xmen could release a new movie every 2 years, instead of the current eternity it takes.

So you think directing a animated picture is less work than directing a motion picture?

Planetary! But not a movie, an HBO series would be perfect as an ongoing X-Files thing at first until the confrontation with The Four really kicks off.

Not having to worry about actors egos, set locations, weather, getting the right shots, etc etc. There is a reason why a production like the Simpsons can go on forever. Animation has less variables that can ruin it.

Yes.

Second on the Transmetropolitan. With John Malkovich as Spider <3

I'd like to see an Astro City movie or a movie for the newer series, The Walking Dead.

I could really dig a Captain America movie about his origin.

I mean, who wouldn't love Captain America VS Nazis? I hate Captain America but I'd see it just to see blue, red, and white kicking the shit out of Nazi soldiers with a freakin shield!

Also...add Iron Man (or War Machine) to that list.
