Which Woke show/game/comic would you rescue? Anti-wokes only.

The Woke era is at it's twilight. Like the Hippies, the Prohibition and perhaps even Communism, it was a poorly though movement by people who thought they where doing good, implemented disastrously with catastrophic results. Most big studios and entire industries are on the verge of shutting down, a crook took the chance to get re-elected in the US, UK is still going through dictatorial online censorship and most of the biggest franchises nerds ever loved are ether dead or on life support.
My take on what happened is that "the dose makes the poison". Technically one wasn't wrong to support some underrepresented groups, but once you take that to 11 and become the oppressor, both you and your movement will loose the audience.

Enough of that!
I'm asking the Anti-Woke here!

Lets just imagine that in order to save/revive the old franchises, and generally erase the embarrassing period in Art's history, they are rounding up all woke shows/games/comics/novels, to strap them on a rocket and fire it into the Sun. Woke activists are on a watch list and can't do nothing about it.

What will you be hiding under your floor boards?
What will you shelter from the purge!

I'll start with my picks.

1. Hazbin Hotel

I'm a sucker for good musicals. Both the music and story has to be good and memorable, so as a result I don't like crap like Lala-Land. This ex-youtube show is justifiably rising, as it has both great design, good comedy and amazing talent. Sadly I can't say the same about it's sister project helluva boss as I can only take so much of Blitz's gay fuck-life.

2. Harley Quinn TV series

Another guilty pleasure. It's genuinely funny, taking into account all of DC's embarrassing history and all the Jokes fans make about it. It's a comedy that would be good if it was centered around any other character, and it's just happened it's centered around Harley Quinn, that surprisingly ishe and her lesbian romance is the worst part of the show.

What's your guilty pleasure?

Oh, easy.

With the RIDICULOUS budget they threw at this thing, and even if they had to dodge actual Silmarillion content (which begs the question why even use those parts of the appendices AT ALL), this SHOULD have been a massive grand slam. But goofy casting, wrong character focus, a lack of proper understanding of the source material ("elves are coming for our jerbs!") and the absolute incompetence of the showrunners, its a disaster all around.

which was just a diffuse mess because it moved focus off Rand, also had nonsensical casting, and repeated the same error as the books in dragging out plot beats faaaaar too long. I get that this was Rosamund Pikes passion project, but she should have been a side character in this.

I largely abandoned modern western entertainment because of the huge increase of woke content, but we shouldn't be getting rid of anything. They should always remain as proof for spectacular commercial failures and why some of us stopped being neutral towards stuff like minorities being represented. Involved parties often like to erase things from history when it doesn't fit their narratives and it would be so much easier if there wasn't actual proof of their lies.

Then there is this. Another "lets make this about the girls" as if there is a SINGLE FEMALE that has ANY awareness of MOTU. This could/should have been a glorious reliving of the barbaric world of He-man especially of the mini-comics rather than the old cartoon but noooooooooooooo, Kevin Smith in his pot addled brain is always trying to please his man-hating wife.

These designs are deliberately stripping all sensuality and femininity from these characters. Now I like a buff chick as much (probably much more than) the next guy but there is sexy fit and then there is "better check for an adams apple". Regardless, a focus on Teela in the first place is misguided versus Adam/He-man.

It sounds like you're asking which woke piece of media you'd want to see preserved if there should be something of a purge?

Uh, I guess Baldur's Gate 3. It has a fair number of woke elements, enough that I relied on mods to expunge most of them, but rarely does the game preach at you; if anything, it usually gives you a remarkable amount of freedom to deal with characters or situations as you see fit. Yes, I did in fact brutally murder Lucretious in all four of my playthroughs, how did you guess?

Most Sony exclusives.
Spider-Man, TLoU and GoW.

I enjoy the gameplay of these games, but fucking hell, these stories…. I don't want to talk about it.

Hmmm, maybe I misunderstood the assignment.

Are you asking what "guilty pleasure" woke shows we'd like to keep or what we wish could be de-woken?

Sense8.
The anti-wokies can take those two guys with beards sharing the ice cream in the credits - but Im saving the whole rest of the show, trans/gay/lesbian orgies included.

The broken earth trilogy of books is probably considered to be pretty woke: It features a black middle aged woman as the main character, has prominent gay and trans characters, it explores racism and oppression as a central theme and the author sounds like if she liked videogames she'd probably post on Era.

But I still though these were really compelling, engaging and enjoyable books, with an awesome setting and lore and memorable characters. In fact I think they are a good example of how to make good "progressive" stories (which sort of makes it not be woke...at least in the way I interpret the word). IMO if Hollywood actually cared about telling more diverse stories they should be investing a billion dollars adapting these books rather than making a woke version of Lord of The Rings.

The saying is "everything woke turns to shit" so technically there is nothing worth saving.

The Vikings tv series is a prime example of that. Amazing first few seasons and then they started adding girl bosses and out of place diversity. What a waste.

Anyway, if I had to pick something it would probably be Predator Killer of Killers. The obnoxious viking (coincidentally) girl boss wasn't able to ruin the movie for me. I grit my teeth and enjoy it in spite of that.

Prey would be a runner up for making it female empowerment fan fiction, but the acting was atrocious. Off to the sun with it.

For me it's dragon age hands down. I beat Origins multiple times, and then after that it was such a disappointment. All the potential and lore straight down the drain

I said which Woke media you would rescue.
Which of those Woke stuff that was shoved on our screens in the last 8 years should have a right to exist in the normal world. Stuff that wouldn't have been so hated if the world wasn't to saturated with the ideology...

Probably Sandman

It's enjoyable and stays around the comic story.

Hard to explain.
The woke stuff pops out like a blister but it stands out so much that it almost removes itself from the story.
If you've never read the comic. You would instantly know what woke stuff has been shoehorned in so you can kinda watch around it.

I don't consider it to be woke but I would keep TLOU gaming franchise. They are much more nuanced than people on either side like to admit and genuinely great games.

If this is considered woke then I guess this as well.

I like Kevin Smiths He-Man especially revolution and the new Superman despise some people saying it's woke. So I'll keep those two. I also like the new Superman more than the Man of Steel.
