Scarface wins that contest.
At the same time, Scarface suffers from the same map/geographical problems that any game based on IRL Miami will have.
Rockstar's making a mistake going back to a Miami-based map for GTA.
On top of that, modern day Miami lacks the context that Miami Vice and Scarface have given 80s Miami.

I would say sleeping dogs and saints row games(not shitty reboot, good ones, including 3rd remaster) would be 2nd tier gta-like games, not as magnificent as gta itself but still solid 8 to 9/10 depending on personal taste.

I played both and i would choose Scarface as a game, but the key's were hard coded on PC which spoilt the game for me, but the rest of the game was really good, and you didn't go swimming for long lol.

Man, Sleeping Dogs was such a great game. Even today it still holds up really well.. It's a shame they never released a sequel, it really deserved one.

It could have been a Yakuza long running update of the base game always in Hong Kong with dev budget friendly side locations.

Same, although I recently went to the effort of getting the PC version up and running.
But as others have said - Sleeping Dogs was one of the best of the criminal open world games that came in the wake of GTA, and in my opinion is superior to GTA mainly because the combat is actually enjoyable.

No. Even motorcycles drive like box cars. The characters are forgettable. The map is boring. The Arkham combat is dull. The mediocre cover shooting makes the stealth sections in Streets of L.A. feel like an adrenaline rush by comparison.

P.S. The Godfather: The Blackhand Edition is more polished but I love the raunchy and degenerate elements in World Is Yours more. I have more fun with armed lingerie entourage, bimbo assassin, enforcer gang elimination, and island drug deal excursions than I ever did in Godfather.

The Godfather game is fucking great. Figuring out how to rob and take over stores successfully was always fun. The gunplay was different and satisfying. AND it was the second to last project that Marlon Brando worked on which alone is a pretty fucking incredible feat.

The correct answer. Sleeping Dogs is legitimately amazing, and it's a real tragedy that it was never continued. I much preferred it's world, characters, story, and missions to GTA IV.

I played Mafia 2 on PS3... If I remember correctly, it was a PS Plus game at the time... And it was a great game. I liked the memorable characters, their outfits, and the beautiful world.

It's just a short game and doesn't have as much depth as a GTA game.

I am fascinated and enamored with the 1950s, its customs, its clothing, and what that era was like.

If I could travel back in time, I would be happy in the 50s.


San Andreas made me laugh because of its satire; you felt like the character was in a very discriminatory world. And for me, the best Rockstar game is Bully... Manhunt 2 and Red Dead Redemption on PS3... I laughed when I was on the Mexico Stage.
