Even so, this guy has been principal of the elementary school for two years. So shouldn't the obvious question be, "How is the school doing?"lightless_shado said:He probably did write them himself, that or most of those are from the white students he actually bothered to pay attention to.
aside from how disgusting this guy is I find it troubling that the author of the article tied in homosexuality with racism...gays coatriding again...sheesh...
not sure if this is a witch hunt because he is not supoprtive of gays or an actual case of racism...
if he is racist against black students ...obviouolsy he should be removed from the school....
insidious how they are trying to tie in the two together.....
nope...homosexulaity is not something that can be condoned by a catholic school. in that instance he is absolutely right...there are minorities that are serial killers, wife beaters and thieves...your point is not well taken...
the attempt to co opt the civil rights movement by gay rights activists? it is loathsome....
Intolerance is universal. This has nothing to do with blacks per se...this is a HOMO issue and the pole smokers ONCE AGAIN are tryin to further their filthy agenda on the backs of blacks...

Some black advocates are indeed angry about the principal, such as in this thread on BlackVoices.
Intolerance is universal.
Aren't you a little bit curious of the results of young minds being exposed to a bigot principal? This didn't just happen. It took two years for anyone to notice.lightless_shado said:people won't be discussing the fact that a bigot was entrusted with young minds.

So what happened at the school in the past two years?
the Rev. Eric Rapaglia, said he knew of Borzellieri's views, but didn't "see any cause for concern" when he hired him to run the 200-student elementary school.
"I knew of him from my last parish," he said. "Do I agree with all of it? No. But I think much of it is valuable and logical and reasonable.
"A lot of his ideas would actually benefit minorities," he added.

I worked very hard for my A-, which I got this week. He's a very tough grader, but he points out your mistakes in order to help you. Wants students to succeed. Wrote me a beautiful letter of recommendation. His writing classes are very lively. Great sense of humor. Encourages a diversity of opinions. Very interesting man. Take this professor!
There is one poor review and one average review, but the rest of the 15 ratings are good quality. Unless, of course, he wrote them all.
Racist: Are you talking about the "diversity is a weakness" belief. Do you dismiss someone because they may hold the belief that diversity can create headaches in coming to a public consensus? I see it play out in transportation policy venues all the time. It's can be a weakness when every special group wants concessions that balloon project budgets and result in lower benefits and higher costs. In less developed nations, diversity can lead to civil war at worst.lightless_shado said:This part really bothered me especially the bolded part. It blows my mind that this guy can talk so casually about a text-book(excuse the pun) racist, xenophobe and homophobe as if he's got a slightly different political orientation.

I saw a presentation of a study about diversity and its effects on economic growth in college. The conclusions were that a low amount of diversity can stifle innovation and prevent new ideas and that too much diversity stifles the ability to get anything done when so many groups (and languages) must be accommodated. Despite it being a very liberal college that prizes diversity above all else it seems, nobody threw chairs or called for the resignation of the speaker.
Well I don't think that there's too much diversity in the U.S. As a Canadian I know my country has people from all backgrounds living in and contributing to the country. Hell, a big part of our country doesn't even speak the same language. We live in a world where nobody can just have an isolationist nation anymore. You have to interact with people who may speak a different language, or who may believe in a different religion, or look different. You don't help that process by trying to ban books about other cultures and people, remove LGBT staff, or tell people that one culture is superior to another. What I'm getting from this guy is that he believes that one group should always be on top. He equates a rise in latin and black people in America to a destruction of american culture and america itself. He seems to have a fear of being outnumbered and becoming a minority in his own country. With that in mind, its as if he's realizing that white straight males have tried to silence other opinions and if they're relegated to the minority, then those in charge will take revenge so to speak by ignoring their opinions and making things harder for the white straight male.
Xenophobe: Does this have to do with his stance on illegal immigration? I'm for the Dream Act (but not much else), but should I denounce someone because they believe that unchecked immigration of low-skilled, desperate people might be a bad thing?
Illegal immigration is a difficult issue, and to be honest I'm not sure what his exact stance on that is, but if his idea is to make legal immigration easier for skilled people and to tighten up border security, then I'd agree with him.
Homophobe: That he is, but is it even an issue in elementary school? I would not be surprised if most of the parents at this school agree with him on this issue.
It IS an issue. He's basically trying to tell kids that these people don't exist, and that if they do they are somehow worse than straight people. Depriving them of the chance to see other types of people will have a huge effect on them at such a young age.

Sounds bad. But the school board he was on went right along with him when it came time to ban ebonics.Tristam said:He said that increasing numbers of black and Hispanic people would lead to a new Dark Age. Why are you defending him so vigorously?

If he meant a new Dark Age would result from increasing numbers of black and Hispanic people who don't know how to speak English properly, are not held to the same educational standards as whites (hell, how about the same standards as East Asians and Jews?) and remain unskilled and ignorant, then yes, I agree that the shit will hit the fan at some point.
I don't think he has to worry about increasing proportions of blacks, though, as they are projected to remain relatively stable through 2050 at 13%. It's the statistical group I belong to, Latinos of any race, you have to worry about in terms of increasing proportions. In any case, if too many blacks and Hispanics remain in the permanent underclass, than we have a huge problem on our hands.
That's partly why I support the Dream Act for illegal immigrant students who were brought here by their parents. I also speak out against the kinds of things I saw growing up, including a lack of respect for education, stifling the freedom and rights of young girls by machismo culture and lack of parental involvement. On the other hand, I have no idea how to solve the problem of black underachievement in schools. More funding has not done the trick and firing ineffective teachers is taboo.
But I can't really find anything about his Dark Age beliefs from articles other than the alarmist and possibly misleading articles about "white racist runs a black school lol."
I cannot agree or disagree with what the man believes because I don't know what he actually believes.Tristam said:You're apologizing for this man's crass racism because you agree with it.
I used it correctly 2 out of 3 times in that post. That's good enough to graduate my ass from an American school. Perhaps I'll get some extra points because I'm Hispanic. The basic problem for many non-whites is not getting then and than correct, but being to fill out a job application or reading a prescription.Perhaps while you're lecturing black and Hispanic people on their inability to speak proper English you can learn the difference between "then" and "than."
