Who do you consider the single greatest comic book writer of all time?

Stopped reading comics a long time ago because of all the SJW garbage but I would go the old school guys that just wanted to tell a story and not throw politics in your face.
Jack Kirby, Stan Lee , Chris Claremont I would say are writers of some of my favorite no matter what time period.

read the monthly star wars comics around 2000, anything expanding that (first trilogy) universe was gold in my eyes, but comics were not as popular around my parts, so it stayed that way.

Grant Morrison for me.

People think he's mad, but dude is just on a different level psychologically. His runs on Batman, Animal Man, and Doom Patrol are unparalleled as far as I'm concerned and hes not afraid to dive deep into philosophical concepts well beyond that of typical cape books.

This interview helps me to make so much more sense of Morrison. He’s pretty much my favorite now too.

Although I’d like to include some other categories since this is such a broad topic.

Favorite graphic novel writer: Frank Miller for the Dark Knight Returns

Favorite monthly series run: Mark Miller, The Ultimates 1 & 2.

Favorite writers from my childhood: Peter David (the hulk), Chris Claremont (x-men).

Frank Miller Daredevil honourable mention (only thing he wrote I liked - but I really, really like it.)

Pete Carroll Owns Me
I don’t really consider anyone to be the best of all time.

BKV has the best track record with me personally though.

This is tough, more so than choosing an artist. You have Archie Goodwin, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Grant Morrison etc. For the modern age, I will need to choose Grant. Alan Moore criticized the comic book industry for not living up to its potential, and he’s somewhat right. The medium is so much more than 22 floppy pages of action & drama. But then Grant brings back what French cartoonists have been doing for decades and make comic books fun again (with the aid from Frank Quietly)

there’s so much happening on this page. It’s well written, interesting to read, and has an added layer of meta.

Tom King. Pretty personal pick, but this shit's all subjective and his writing style is just very much my thing.

As a big X-Men/Wolverine fan I've got to give it up for Claremonts stuff with X-men and Larry Hama for Wolverine.
