Who got scared off from Kameo?

I have to admit, with all the lukewarm and negative thoughts that swamped the net (whether it is about the game being short, or not fun, kiddy, it doesn't matter), even the good impressions have not been enough to consider me not opening Kameo and trying to trade it in toward something else. Anyone else feel this way?

open it, play it, and sell it used for 30-35 if you don't like it. It's not that big of a deal.

Or if you can find a place to rent it, rent it and see if you like it, then take it back if you don't.

Quit being such a pussy...open the damn game

I hated the demo and almost didn't play it because of it. But it really turned around after that, and I'm really glad that I played through the first few levels to get to the meat of the game. There are some amazing visuals later on in the game, and the orchestral soundtrack is fantastic. It's up there with the best of the 360 games out right now.

Dont bother. Its crap. So many better games out there. Reminds me of SFA too. Just because you have a xbox 360 doesnt mean you should only play games on it.

Despite that one really annoying underwater boss I have been enjoying the game. The snow temple level was really well designed, it was the best level thus far. I stayed up really late last night playing. You had to make use of several different characters to get through that level and I felt that the difficulty level was perfect, but probably a little too difficult for kids. My biggest gripe with the game overall is that it does allow you to fly through it so fast without having to do any of the sidequests. The game to this point doesn't really give you any incentive to go back and complete those tasks that you probably should have nor does it put up any roadblocks to force you to go back. Not saying they should force you to complete every single task, but it does feel like you can race through this game without any consequences. Of it's type this is one of the best adventure/platformer games I have played in a long time. This is certainly one of the best that Rare has ever made. The narrative is weak and not engaging at all, but compared to a Banjo, Donkey Kong, Star Fox Adventures, Conker, etc. this is by far Rare's best playing platform/adventure game. Overall I think it's a very good game that probably doesn't have much replay value unless you're interested in getting the achievements in co-op and those ranked level modes.

how much have you played?

i liked the game a lot but im gonna be honest...at $50 dont buy it. rent it or wait til it hits $30. you should definitely play through it, its a great game.

That is exactly my train of thought. I was thinking that there were probably going to be a flood of trade ins on this game in a few months, and that also it would be one of the first ones to drop in price. I eventually will try the game, but would rather get the store credit for it and get Dead or Alive or a pre-order for Top Spin 2 right now since it is at 50 bucks value.

I got it from the Costco bundle, so it was forced on me anyway.

I'm pretty sure i posted my xbox360 demo impressions somewhere.

To be honest i couldnt be bothered to play it properly because of the controls and gameplay. Not worth putting myself through torture when i have better games to play. Might get the expansion for Rome Total War for example. I know thats good and i think others should also put money on good games they will enjoy. Certainly better than wasting money on a game you will unlikely enjoy.

Having said that its probably better than the turd that is the Dead or Alive series. Although there are too many good games this christmas to even think about getting Topspin either.

If you haven't played through and beaten Kameo, you have no right to say it sucks.
No. It is much better to play a little bit of the game and then act as though your opinion was more valid than people that actually have played through the whole game. That way, you can troll Kameo AND DOA4.

So you buy a game, keep it sealed and come here to post because afraid of opening it?

Mean no offence, but resell the game and use that money on a psychiatric.

I don't need to play completely through a game to form an opinion. What little I played of Kameo, I didn't care for. I'm more than willing to give it a rent though to try it out more fully.

I told you that the game was forced on me through a bundle at Costco. I normally don't just buy games for the sake of staring at them in their plastic wrap. Had it not been in a bundle, it would have already been returned, but I can only do an exchange on it. I'm not messing around with Ebay.

Never swayed by the negativity, Kameo remains top on my list. Not much else to say about it or anything else 360 until I get one, though.

I was being sarcastic. A couple of posters above me were suggesting you post proof that you have completed the game before saying anything negative about it. Just having a bit of fun with the fanboys is all.

Obviously taking it to the extreme.

One doesn't need to complete a game to form an informed opinion of it. One should, however, play more than 15 minutes of a game to do so. Achievements track not just game completion, but at least for this game, it tracks progress through the many levels and acquired abilities. Simply getting 4 or so abilities is enough to get a good gauge for it.

I mentioned I beat the game because I did, and was able to prove progress through the game, rather than someone badmouthing the game because he has nothing better to do and hasn't really played the game at all. Achievements are a good way to either put up proof of playing the game, or simply shut up.

Completing the game doesnt make it good. There are people who like bad games, many people also force themselves through bad games. I have had a Nintendo system for the record so i do know how these games work. Kameo is very far from say a Zelda standard game. To the point where i think its not worth bothering with. There are loads of great games out there that chances are you have missed out on. Play one of those.

regarding the PS3 stuff ofcourse they werent realtime but they certainly seem to be a better indicator of what next gen should be. If any console does that it will be PS3 which is why the non sony fanboys gets upset.

Thats a good way to put it. The game just doesnt suit me.

Well at least you know what you are.

Hopefully. PC gaming is the best thing right now so i would like to see them have the edge this time.

I was concerned after the first level, but the game got significantly better after that. Anybody who hates on the game: have you understood the combo system yet? Nobody who hasn't played beyond the first hour and who doesn't understand how combos work have no credibility in talking about the game.

i agree.

after playing the demo i was not going to buy it. My son got it as a gift and i been stealing it away from him. after you get 4 or so dudes back it gets pretty cool.

the 1st time i rode down on the horse blazing through all the trolls i was smiling the whole way.

I only had enough in my launch budget for the system and two games. Sadly, this one didn't make the cut. I'm definitely interested in checking this game out eventually though. That one video I saw where some dude was showing off the game (some thread on GAF around a month ago) really caught my interest.

Oh, Kameo soundtrack ranks as one of the best ever. Right up there with Shenmue, MGS2, Halo and SotC. Really is amazing stuff

Agreed. The soundtrack is amazing.

Considering its gamerankings score, Kameo gets my vote for sleeper of the year.
