I've been contemplating seeing this movie, but I've noticed it hasn't been seen too favorable in reviews. It has Uma and The Rock in it that is almost reason enough for me to see it!

However, I don't consider professional reviews the be all end all of opinion, so I wanted to scope out some other opinions on this movie. So give me the scoop on this flick!

I went to a premiere for it and enjoyed the movie. It's not a movie I'd normally see, but it isn't horrible either. It's worth watching sometime just to see The Rock as a gay cowboy bodyguard. and Vince Vaughn as a wannabe gangsta.

Just got back from Be Cool, funniest movie I've seen in a long time. Vince Vaughn and The Rock were hilarious, they should make another movie with just those two. I missed half of the jokes because I was laughing so much. Uma Thurman looked fine as hell in this movie, I was expecting to like Christina Milian, but damn.

Got a free ticket from the Get Shorty SE, plan on seeing it in the morning.

eh, I didn't enjoy it at all. it wasn't funny and the plot wasn't entertaining. i can't see this being anymore than a pop culture ridden guilty pleasure, for anyone.

I think I'll wait to rent. The reviews are far too overwhelmingly bad for me to potentially waste money on it.

It was decent but far from being the funniest movie out in awhile... The Rock made this movie, despite all the other big names in it. Uma and Milan are hot as hell so that didn't hurt either. Definitely a popcorn flick, don't go in with high expectations.

UGH, how I loathe the commercial for that movie. :lol

I thought it was really bad. It had some funny moments, but the plot was poorly put together and the movie ended up being a mess of silly characters and nothing else. The jokes were all over used as well, until they became painful to watch. Vince Vaughn was funny for about 10 minutes, then his character just became excessive.

I generally loved the humor of the film. It wasn't childish or drug humor that's infesting most comedies this days. The story was not as entertaining as the 1st, but the comedy more than made up for it IMO. Maybe it was because I came into it not expecting much, but there only 1 or 2 scenes that didn't make much sense to me. Otherwise it was funny throughout. Everybody played their parts well, except for Uma, but really anybody could've played her part. I guess I'd give it about an 8.5/10.

Just saw it.

I think Get Shorty is the better movie of the two, but Be Cool is the funnier of the two. Be Cool had more humor and funny moments than Get Shorty.

The Rock was great. Does anyone know if he finally bought away "The Rock" name from the WWE? Vince didn't show up anywhere in the credits like with the previous movies where he was credited as The Rock.

Um. I don't know about BE COOL. Trailer looked to try hard. What is up with Making Travolta and Uma dance again. Quentin did it and made it cool. Here it looks derivative and stupid. Plus its got the Rock.

I can't say for sure, but I know I just heard news on this the other day. I believe the Rock has worked out a deal with the WWE so he can still use it, even though he's not working for them at the moment. Something like that.

I just saw it. And I loved it. The whole theater was cracking up.

Yeah The Rock bought out his name.

I just came back from seeing it. The first twenty minutes were a little slow but it picks up after that. I was laughing my ass off the rest of the way. The funniest moments were definitely scenes with The Rock. He had the theater rolling in some of his segments. The only time I remember the whole theater laughing were scenes with The Rock in it! Vince Vaughn had some good segments too and him in The Rock worked great together! :lol Uma, bright yellow yummy Uma in the movie. She is so fine to me with the bleach blonde hair. Almost got to see her topless too! She did a great job acting. I thought Travolta started a little slow with his acting but picked up steam as the movie went on. Cedric The Entertainer had some good lines too! Overall I had a good time watching this movie. I'd give it an 8/10.

I'm glad I didn't listen to professional reviewers on this flick. I don't know what the hell they are expecting.

I almost went to see this tonight. And then decided that I need to save money, because I'm already going to see Constantine on Tuesday. So I held off. ~prays Constantine has the Rock in it~

I loved Get Shorty and Be Cool the book. That said, Be Cool is a real let down. It has some moments, maily Vince Vaughn and the Rock. It just isn't a good movie. Too many moments and not enough moive. Stephen Tyler is really staring to look like something out of the Jim Henson shop.

Well, I've already set a date with a bunch of friends to go see Constantine Tuesday night, so I gotta do it. Ok, I don't GOTTA do it, but I'm going to, because the movie still looks pretty good. I usually enjoy most movies I see, so.. ~shrugs~ I can't say I've ever seen an absolutely horrible movie. Every movie has something in it that I can find likeable or at least decent. Even crap like Island of the Dead and Full Frontal (probably my two least favorite movies ever).

Get Shorty was much, much better. The writing was a lot sharper, the comedy was darker, people actually died and shit, and the acting for a lot of the characters was fucking perfect. That said, it was also one of my favorite movies of the decade. Be Cool isn't as good, but I thought it was entertaining. The Rock as a gay bodyguard and Vince Vaughn as a wannabe gangsta pimp was fucking hilarious. Vaughn's character was such a fucking tool. I'd say what I disliked the most about Be Cool was the premise of the plot. I just didn't buy into Chili Palmer wanting to really get into the music business the same way he wanted to get into the movie business, and I really wasn't convinced that he was so thrilled about managing some R&B diva who sounds like she belongs on American Idol. And the whole "concert performance with a rockstar celebrity" scene felt really sell-out.

Oh and yeah, Uma Thurman was fuckin hot. She looks damn fine in a bikini.

I just watched Get Shorty again about an hour or two ago, and it's definitely a solid movie. Not one of my favorites, that's for sure, but definitely good and worth watching. Is the rating for Be Cool different than the one for Get Shorty? I'm sure Get Shorty is R, and I think the commercial for Be Cool said PG-13, but I don't quite remember.

Get Shorty was rated-R; Be Cool is PG-13. There was even a little joke about it near the beginning of the movie.

And Get Shorty was much more than a solid movie. It has such great dialogue with perfectly timed acting. Love it.

For me, it's just solid. There's nothing that particularly stands out in the movie that makes me remember it a year down the line and say "Oh yeah, I gotta see this again". Perhaps the only thing close to that is the whole "e.g./ i.e." thing which is hilarious.

But you're right. There is definitely good dialogue and some pretty good acting in there as well. It'd be a 8/10 in my book, or around there. Another viewing is probably in order. :D

I remember liking it the more I saw it. But I suppose it just depends on how much you like or 'get' the characters. The characters' personas was probably the best thing about the movie. Harry Zimm's (Hackman) pathetic attempt at copying Chili's persona and tactics at coming as as 'powerful' (fumbling around with the blinds) while talking to Ray Bones in his office was fucking hilarious. "Lookit you? Why don't you take a fucking look at this! *wham*" and Bones kicks the shit out of Hackman.....fucking priceless.

Fuck me? No no no fuck you fuckball...

Those definitely were some good parts, heh. :lol Yeah, I've only seen it twice (once about a year ago, once now), so I'm sure it'll get better as I give it more shots.

Right near the beginning, during the initial Bones-Chili conflict, it's hilarious when Bones is coming to Chili's office (with the big nose pad on), opens the door, Chili shoots, and Bones runs. Good stuff. :D

I thought it was a lot of hollywood cocksucking. Its like some celebrities got together and tried to formulate some plan to make a hit movie while they dicked off and had fun together. The product placement was so obvious it hurt (T-mobile sidekick! BUY IT!!!!) And I'm really interested in finding out who the girl was who played Linda Moon. I think I'm going to barf if that's her real name as it felt like they were trying sooo hard to sell her. The big concert scene just lasted forever and really just seemed like somebody had their heart set on promoting that chick, while still trying to convince me that Aerosmith is cool. Sorry, but I know better.

And Cedric's cheesy speech he gave before busting a cap in that guy was SO weak. You are NOT Samuel L. Jackson and this is NOT Pulp Fiction. That's all I have to say about him.

Vince Vaugn has never been a favorite of mine. Its like he has never been in a decent movie, ever. Everything he touches is shit or average at best. That said, he did a pretty good job of playing an annoying white kid from the suburbs. Whether or not that is what his part was supposed to be doesn't matter as he nailed it.

The Rock was about the only person in the movie that I really enjoyed watching. And I am not a WWF fanboy by any means, I just think he's really likeable and was the best part of this particular movie.

Overall a 4/10

Well, I just sat through it, so I'll save you guys the trouble: It's shit. There are few laughs on occasion, mostly around Vince Vaughn and The Rock, but it's far from worth the price of admission. Far.
