Who here is still physically going to work?

No, but for some idiotic reason my office is still open. About 90% of us are working from home. I'd be in the office if it wasn't for the fact that I've got a cough.

It's a necessity but I'm not enjoying it. I like to keep a strict divide between work and home, and working on these cases from my bedroom just feels wrong.

At least I get to wear my gimp suit.
 
My job is considered essential, work at a supermarket. People need food and gotta eat.
Also get other supplies like soap, bleach and the like.
 
Our hotel where I work at, we're closing on Friday for at least the next 3 weeks.

BUT, because it's 24/7 they don't have the equipment to actually close the doors so we have to take turns to look after the place. In other words I have to go to work as many others for no good reason.

If they value the building over people's health then they're just cunts. The company's worth billions too.
 
Local grocery store chain, work in the deli doing the dishes, talk to my close friend in his early 20s talking about childhood things, old anime, and upcoming games, I told him that the new Doom game felt tedious to play during today's shift.
 
im trying to stay home as much as i can, but i will probably have to go in once a week to handle mail and other shit...
 
I operate a chemical plant in NY (we make formalin [formaldehyde]). Yes, we are considered essential, for now at least. Only a veeery small fraction of our "hyde" goes to the embalming industry. Sadly that industry will be picking up a bit, I'm sure.

But my schedule is amazing (every other) Wed, Thur, Fri, Sat. I get Sun, Mon, Tues and every other Wed off (12 hour shifts 06:00-18:00).

I work at a Data Center that is supporting Defense, so ya I'm out there. Lockdown goes into effect tonight here in Denver.
 
I work at a newspaper. I used to commute to work but since they locked down public transport a company car has been picking us employees up. We're currently operating on a skeletal workforce since many of the reporters and editors are working from home.

Whether it's essential or not is completely up to you.
 
I just got laid off a half hour ago and it feels great! I was worried my boss was going to just fire me so i wouldn't be able to get benefits..... you just never know.

Are they giving overtime? I am just generally curious how things are going over there. They close at 8pm and supposedly spend all night cleaning and stocking, but when I went in at 7am the other day, it looked like they had just started stocking.
 
Biochemist. I'm working on producing Corona Virus Antigens (the Nucleocapsid and Spike protein specifically) for testing measures and potential therapy research

I work for a courier company that delivers retail and healthcare products.

Gotta make sure those drugs get delivered... and that Walmart doesn't run out of DVD's/Bluray's I guess...

They don't give overtime, at least not to part-timers.

I 'm not a stocker and I haven't stayed there overnight, but as far as I'm aware they do the bulk of stocking around 9 or 10pm, and again at 7am. I would assume whatever doesn't get stocked by the evening team (cap 2) gets stocked by the morning team (cap 1) or vice versa.

Things have generally been quite hectic, as you can imagine. The first day the government talked about staying inside, we got more customers than we did on Christmas Eve. These past couple weeks bread, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer have been bought as quickly as they're stocked. Literally I'll see someone stocking toilet paper, and 45mins later I hear the backroom supervisor say on the walkie "hey, we just ran out of toilet paper."

This kind of traffic is manageable on holidays and particularly-busy weekends, but having it every day means that the new curfew is needed to allow people to catching up. Without it CAP wouldn't be able to keep up with stocking, maintenance wouldn't be able to clean the place faster than people dirty it up, cart pushers would be able to get the garages full until late at night, etc.

I've seen people say "why does Walmart close now, shouldn't they stay open so people can get what they need?" and it's like, bro, we'd be exhausting ourselves daily AND the shelves would still be empty.

Oh and we've also just hired a bunch of people (mostly minors) to help lighten the workload, and while that helps we still only barely keep up.

As of right now, yeah. MN is only just now enacting a lockdown starting this friday but walmart is still considered an essential retailer so my hours havent (and likely wont) change.

we are getting some bonuses for working at this time however and once the lockdown has begun i imagine the store will finally calm down a bit.
 
Auto painter in a collision repair shop. Still considered essential in Maryland, although we've slowed down and I'm taking more time off. But still working most days. Most of us are going to get this unless you really isolate yourself.
 
I work in a hospital, so unless I actually get sick myself, I will always be going to work. Fortunately I work in a room by myself, pretty much isolated from everyone, so hopefully that'll keep me safe from this covid shit.
 
Working in a crappy, very non-esential environmental lab. Impossible to stay two meters away from everyone else. These selfish assholes aren't going to close down until the virus police put chains across the gates.
 
Yeah, I work retail. Thankfully, overnight stocking. My company is giving it's employees a $300, non-taxed somehow, bonus next tuesday so there's that.
 
I am. Haven't gotten a day off in over a week. Not all the shifts are long though, so no ot. I've had it up to here with this coronavirus shit.
 
Yes, the small company I work for is non-essential, but our state's shut down order has a provision that offices can have someone working to maintain baseline services. I come in for half day to receive shipments/mail and maintain our network for employees that are working from home. I'm glad to have the opportunity to get out of the house.
 
My job is essential but we aren't being forced to go. We can if we want but aren't forced to. I haven't been going. We are dispatched in a building with hundreds of people as of today and im just waiting to hear news of an outbreak there and I don't want to risk it. Port of LA/LB.
 
I am 50/50 home and office, which is pretty normal

My wife works from home so nothing has changed for her.
 
Just got word that after we complete what were working on next week we'll probley be laid off. So unless something blows up in the refinery I'll probley be joining the unwashed masses soon.
At least I'll be able to start working on my gaming backlog.

I am, I work in an hospital so I go to work every night as usual.

There's a risk but I'm also happy that I get to keep on working and bring that money home unlike a lot of people here.

they closed my gym. But 2 workers have to be there from 8-22 every day. So they work in pairs and stay in a closed gym for 8 or so hours and then the next guys come and sit around..
 
Work at Walmart. So I'm almost certain going to get infected, the way our obnoxious shoppers act. And we're probably all get it if one person does. You can't really unload a truck 6 feet from each other.

It's actually made worse because the car center people are now thrown in with the rest of us.
 
Finally get a few days off (tomorrow and Saturday) before jumping back into the fray. On one hand I feel a bit guilty just sitting around the house, knowing that there is work to be done that's not getting done in my absence. On the other hand, I know that if I keep going full tilt with no days off I'm going to either burn out or get sick.

The good news is that I got word today that our dress code was going "casual Friday every day" until things get back to normal. So that'll be nice when I go back in a few days.
 
I've only had to go into the office once since last Monday. Shipping department moved a desk to separate the employees more than they were and there wasn't an Ethernet cable long enough to reach the new location, so I had to go in and whip one up for them. Fingers crossed that I don't have any hardware or network issues that would require me to make an appearance.
