Who is following TMNT 2003?

I loved the old turtles cartoons back in the day, so naturally I was very excited about the new series. (TMNT 2003)When I watched the first season two years ago, I was very disappointed. A lot of things annoyed me. Voice of splinter is one, and some very cheap expisodes without a point. Add that Casey Jones is just clumsy now and get his ass kicked all the time. Where did his badass character go? (all none shredder episodes basicly sucked) So I stopped watching it. Recently I gave it a 2nd chance and went through season 2, and suddenly it felt better, more exciting.

And now I have been following season 3 and it's superb. This is on par with the first cartoon now, and Agent Bishop is a welcome character. Can't wait to see Exodus airing soon.

I've been following it, and yes, its much much better than the original series if you take out the nostalgia value (and minus Cam Clarke).

Season 3 has definately been the best yet and they've really kept up the pace with the action and the very well done fight scenes. I mean, after all, it began with that whole six-part Space Invaders arc with the Triceraton's and the Federation. Agent Bishop is definately a cool character to have and he seems even more threatening than the Shredder.

This season is also the first to run through all episodes without any breaks in between. The two-part Exodus season finale which starts this Saturday should be something special indeed.

Yeah Bishop seems more dangerous than shredder which is surprising, but also welcome. It seems that it's a 3 way finale in Exodus which should be something. What the hell did they do with casey though :p

This show, Teen Titans and Justice League are pretty much the main cartoons that I watch on a regular basis.

Both April and Casey have been pretty MIA this season, with only appearing in the earlier episodes and scattered appearences lately (especially during the recent time/dimensional travel arc), but I don't think thats a bad thing.

My main problem with last weeks ep was that Leatherhead was pretty much gone after the first half of the episode and there was no mention or sight of him afterwards.

How can anybody watch Teen Titans? As if goofy girly anime wasn't bad enough already, now it's westerized. blech.

Sounds like you're talking more about "Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi" there. And I agree, that is indeed a blasphemy.

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.
Teen Titans is very good, and Slade is one of the cooler villians in just about any cartoon... for someone who can get past the fruitiness of Kirby you should be able to put up with some over the top facial expressions.

Slade is indeed one of the better villains I've seen in a long time, of course Ron Perlman does the best voice for the character.

I remember when TT was first being advertised, I too thought it was going to be a crappy show, but after watching a few episodes in the second season, I got hooked.

I've been with it from the beginning. I'm sure if you've seen my name attached to it somehow. ;)
Anyways, the episodes have been progressively better. Initially people despised it simply because it was different from what they remember. Sadly, this cartoon is more true to the comics than the original cartoon, anime and live action shows. Obviously liberties were taken (Like making Shredder an Utrom) but makes it better. Give it a chance. It's more focused around action, not humor.

Facts of life:
Baxter is black. Well, what's left of him.
April was his assistant.
No fly transformation. No Bebop. No Rocksteady. Those were all Classic TMNT inventions.
Mutagen just causes animals to become humanoid.
Splinter was the trained rat of Hamato Yoshi, not actually him. Oroku Saki is the brother of the man Hamato killed to defend the woman they both loved.
And yes, their bandanas have ALWAYS BEEN and STILL ARE ALL RED. They give them different skin color and bandanas so children can recognize which toy they want to purchase more.
Heck, in the current TMNT comic series, Splinter is DEAD.

"We've been getting questions regarding episode 73, "Same As It Never Was" asking whether or not it's been based on the Image Comics TMNT universe. Peter Laird assures me, quite emphatically, that this episode is not based on the Image story line, nor are any future episodes."

The kirby games are so stylish and cool, though. Kirby cartoon, on the other hand, is the same brand of western anime-wannabe shit that Teen Titans is. TT is no better than Totally Spies, either.

Thanks so much for the follow, Cartoon Network!

The current TMNT series completely and utterly murders the old series. Really, the only episodes from the old series that were worth a damn were the first five...those still hold up. After that the show was sanitized to shit, (Michaelangelo was stuck twirling a rope instead of chuks for the rest of his days), and the sharp biting wit seen in the original episodes was toned down considerably.

You're being a wee bit harsh on TT. The show is largely bad (over the top superdeformation + NEED TO HAVE A HAPPY ENDING + stupid music chases + poor humor), but there are some pretty well done episodes when they try to make 'em more serious:

Masks
Apprentice (1&2)
Aftershock (1&2)
Haunted
X
Birthmark

come to mind. Usually any episode with Slade's pretty good. There's a few others that aren't bad (Nevermore, Spellbound, Betrothed, The Journey (or whatever it was called)). I'm interested to see how they're gonna finish up Raven's season... because I know what's supposed to happen, having read the comics.

I loved that episode. Best so far. Here is hoping for a great season finale.

I'm hoping they'll start putting up the previews for Season 4 eventually. Though I'm guessing that they'll wait until at least the middle of the summer before doing that.

want to tell us how and why

(spoiler tag)
It's EASILY my favorite TMNT episode ever. I'll try to summarize what's been going on:
After the Battle Nexus, Mikey won. The damio died and his corrupt son took over. Somewhere along the way he merged with Drako. They randomly appeared in the turtles' lair and zapped them all away to different dimensions.
Leo visits Usagi Yojimbo.
Raph went to the Planet Racers world. (Laird's other comic)
Mikey went to a super hero world.
Donatello went into the "future." Mikey was missing his left arm. Raph was missing an eye. Baxter was melded onto a wheelchair-bound Hun. They do one final attack against Shredder. Pretty much everybody dies. Somber, but awesome.

I'm one of those that really can't stand the new series because of my experience with TMNT back in thte 80s, but it really wasn't toned down all that much until around the 3rd or 4th season. That's when they took away Mike's 'chuks. He still had them for the real first season and second as far as I can remember, because he was whacking away at those mousers which came out in the first season. After that it gets blurry... but i know that they kept the nunchuks sometime until way later on during the CBS run.

Anyone into the toys? Because I'm wondering if they've released a Usagi Yojimbo (the rabbit samurai) and how Playmates is handling the toys. I might buy some, because I pretty much trashed my originals beyond recognization or are completely dismembered, and I want to have something from my childhood again.

zomg future

Best episode ever. I can also safely say that that is the first time I have ever seen characters die on-screen in a western cartoon.

And I don't think they dumped Mike's chucks until about the fourth season or so. I know that he had they for a long time and then wtf a grappling hook?

I guess he had the chuks longer then I thought he did, but I don't think they ever made contact with like, anything past the original episodes anyway, so he might as well have been stuck with the rope.

You look at the first five episodes, and they weren't just fighting those foot soldiers, they were shredding 'em. The contact sounds in those battles were loud, fierce and constant. And Bebop and Rocksteady went from being bad ass but dumb ("How about I just ring your stinkin' neck?"), to just plain being dumb. And Leonardo went from sounding like a bad ass leader to a pussy ass choir boy who's voice had regressed to that of a child's.

The difference between the original episodes and the ones that followed were pretty dramatic in terms of tone. But hey, the season 2 DVD is out in a couple of weeks, so I guess you'll be able to judge for yourselves (doubt I'll bother with it, unless I find it cheap).

Second season DVD = first season. First season DVD = Mini-series. =P

And I'm very sure about the first and second season having Mike thrashing foot soldiers and other robots with his nunchakus. Bebop and Rocksteady remained dumbshits, but still overly violent though less tone downed, considering they had more time to develope. It wasn't until later when moved to CBS that it was really brought down.

:lol You're still going on about this? I'm going by the DVD's...if you wanna confuse everyone else in the world with your definition, be my guest.

And it was dumbed down in THE SECOND SEASON (aka Season One...sheesh :lol)...it simply got dumbed down even more in later years.

HEEY! I'm just going by my experience with it! It was always called the mini-series/pilot when on VHS years ago! Not my fault they want to make a buck off of it by saying its the first season for the DVD release. =P

Yes, it was dumb downed, the action wasn't all that big (something to do with the budget, or the fact that it was a serial now and everything was more spread out), but Mike was still bashing those mousers into tiny bits with his chuks! Bebop and Rocksteady spoke more, lending to their more stupid demeanor, but was still in tune with what the mini-series set up.

Back to the original topic, part 1 of the season finale "Exodus" will be shown tommorow morning, with part 2 to follow a week later.

Man, they really did not dissapoint with this episode despite all the hyping it has received. Pretty much every character had a role in this one. Next week's episode should bring things to a close nicely, will be interesting to see how next season will be structured if Shredder doesn't make it.

*Keeping thread on life support until next week*

Its amazing, usually when an episode is hyped up so much, it tends to dissapoint. This episode didn't come close to dissapointing, but rather, in actuality exceeded my own expectations. The three way conflict was done very well, it's usually quite difficult to pull off a half-hour episode with so many characters, but all of them had their own place in things, even Stockman, who probably had the least screen time, wasn't just "there", as he has now allied himself with Bishop (wonder what Bishop's promise was?). It was also curious to see Bishop's priorities change so quickly once he saw the Starship, wonder what he wanted it so badly for, cause if he really just wanted to stop Shredder, he'd have simply blown it up.

I also really loved the outfit Karai was in, was a nice change from her usual ninja clothing. Also, it was actually kind of neat to see Shredder fighting in his suit without his usual armor as well. Its going to be very interesting to see how they're gonna wrap up some of the characters. We already know Shredder's going bye bye (his new suit in the next ep looked awesome too), I guess it depends whether Karai or Chaplain will join him.
