It doesn't matter what newspaper outlet Y or X is reporting. If you control social media, the one medium where most of the readers and people are...you have control of everything.

Since the beginnings of facebook I was straight against facebook and any sort of bs social media thingy that was going on bc even as a young teenager I kind of knew where this was going. Now we're here...and almost everyone accepts..NO..can't even LIVE without it anymore!

It is actual professional reporters on TV and newspaper networks worth billions that are able to create actual news and narratives and have correspondents all over the world.. Not social media users who can't even film on a smartphone. Social media just reproduce the news. If you control and bribe those networks with money and ads , then you control the flow of information.

Got rid of FB over a year ago, and it was 100% the right move. The only social media i really use consistently is Snapchat. And even that is mainly random pics of my cats, something fun/silly i see when out and about, or even the random rare selfie. But i could probably get by without it

Well, yes; but none of that changes the present reality. If everyone stopped using Amazon or if Apple shut down tomorrow they’d cease to be factors in our lives, but I don’t anticipate either.

Nah, joke's on them. These tools stupefy the users, so at best it allows you to control the lowest-common-denominator narrative, the mob, the brainlets.

Imagine the scene at the beginning of Brave New World where they are tweaking the embryos to make smarter or stronger or placated workers. Twitter turns everyone into "dumb" jars and conditions them to think, react, and behave accordingly. It's not the sort of crowd you can build much with, only tear things down. And an army of dummies who tear everything down is the exact result of these social media tools.

They don't even have the peasant-fury of their communist forebears. They are slacktivists who participate mostly for pats on the head. If they were asked to die for a cause they would make up excuses and stay home.
