No, I know what I'm talking about. I've played Sekiro, Nioh 1 and 2 and Elden Ring. None of those have that cinematic quality that I indeed enjoy, though I do appreciate games with focus on gameplay as well. But there's a big difference between good gameplay and an experience that actually pulls you in emotionally. Games like Uncharted or Metal Gear Solid blend story, visuals, and pacing in a way that feels alive, like you're part of something bigger.
Souls games, on the other hand, rely too much on difficulty to create engagement, which for me ends up feeling repetitive rather than immersive.
The bottom line is, I think Bloodborne is overrated. It's a decent game, sure, but it has clear flaws, the ones I've already mentioned, and that's why I can't see it as a classic (just like Uncharted isn't one for me either). Metal Gear Solid, however, has a unique identity, that distinct Kojima touch.
You might not be familiar with Metal Gear Solid, but you've probably heard of the boss fight where you have to switch controllers to beat Psycho Mantis, the one who even reads your memory card to comment on the Konami games you've played. Then there's that epic twist where Snake switches out for Raiden.
Compare that to Bloodborne: solid but formulaic combat in a gothic world that's stylish yet repetitive. No real narrative payoff, no gameplay twists that stick with you years later. It's competent, but it's playing it safe within the Souls mold, not reinventing the wheel like Metal Gear Solid did. That's why MGS earns legendary classic status for me, while Bloodborne stays just "okay."
