Why are PS2 s-video cables more than Xbox?

I was at circuit city the other day looking for s-video cables. I noticed the PS2 s-video cables were 30 bucks while the xbox cables were 19.99. What's up with that?

Sony overprices their 1st party peripherals. I bought a 3rd party PS2 s-video cable for $10 recently. And FYI it's replacing a Monster brand s-video cable that crapped out..and I see no difference at all in picture quality.

Heh my 1 month old Monster S-vid cable for my PStwo is crapping out as well, the first party one I had from a long time ago is still going on strong however. I'll probably have to pick up another one in the coming weeks as every once in a while the screen would turn black and white with the monster cable hooked up.

So s-video cables are not worth it?
yes they are over the standard composite cables... but picking up a 3rd party S-video cable gets the job done just as good as the 1st party one in this case.

S-video cables were a fairly huge difference in image quality vs the standard composite cables. After using s-video for a while going back to composite was quite harsh on the eyes.

I haven't gotten into the HDTV/EDTV scene yet so I'm still using s-video stuff on a lot of hookups - currently I have a pstwo hooked up to a Dell 2001fp LCD via s-video

I meant I see no difference between the high priced s-video cables like Monster or Sony's own over the cheap $10 3rd party ones. Sorry to sound misleading.

There is a big difference in picture quality between the standard composite cables and s-video, I would recommend getting s-video cables.

what is preferrablefor ps2: component or s-video? My TV has both and if they are about the same in video quality i will go with the cheaper.

Why are Dual Shocks less than Controller S?

probably because of analog triggers, higher quality analog sticks and more powerful feedback, breakaway cords, memory card slots etc.

component

And are there $10 Xbox S-Video cables? I've got the inputs on this TV, but I won't have the Xbox hooked up to the TV much longer.

Why do people still use S-video instead of RGB/component? I havent used anything else since Sega Saturn launched.

I still use the regular cables that come by default... :\
I need a S-video tv or something better ...

because not all tvs have component.

Really? My old tv is atleast 15 years old. A lousy 20inch Samsung. But it still supports RGB.

Did component beome available later in America than RGB over here in Europe or something?

You can get a hybrid PS2/XBox s-video cable for $10.
