Everyone forgets that Beastmode asked the defense to hold his dick on at least 2 occasions.
So being a huge Cam Newton fan and not wanting him to be a boring piece of celery like my aforementioned examples make me a racist?
Lots of reaching in this thread.
It's because he's black playing a typically white position.
He's black. Lots of people like their black athletes to be seen and not heard. When they show off, it's a sign of cockiness, when a white player shows off he's just having fun.
He's black but more importantly he doesn't know his place. Ideally black people should be neither seen or heard.
loud?
Interesting choice.
Are fans starting letter writing campaigns about how they had to cover their children's eyes because his antics were so obscene? This isn't typical "he's not on my team so I dislike him" hate but you are blind if you don't think there is more to it with Newton and many other black athletes. I'm not saying everyone who dislikes him is a racist, but there is definitely a racial component to how he and other black athletes are perceived in this country, which magnifies everything they do or don't do.
get back to me when you have a QB as cocky and loud as Cam to compare him to.
I haven't even really seen anyone hating on him.

How can you not despise someone with such awful fashion sense?
I still want him to win, so the Panthers can send PeyPey to the glue factory
I hate when people say "because he is black". Is Russell Wilson not black too? Obviously there has to be more to it.
I haven't even really seen anyone hating on him.
Russ is the perfect "black" man. He does what he is told and doesn't make a scene. A black man expressing themselves is taboo.Russell Wilson doesn't dance or showboat, so to some of the same people that might hate on Cam because he's cocky or "loud", he's "one of the good ones".
The discount double check was awesome and became a phenomenon with people copying it as a celebration left and right. It's been in commercials for years
Compare that to how people react to Cams superman shirt rip move.
Joe Namath.get back to me when you have a QB as cocky and loud as Cam to compare him to.
I'll think he's a despicable asshole in a week after he kicks the Broncos ass.
Kind of indifferent right now.
I think you've... got it backwards.
Those things are magnified because of his race. It's naive to think otherwise. How often are white players like Aaron Rodgers and JJ Watt criticized for show boating or ego? People still hold on to Cam stealing a laptop when he was 19 or his dad having shady dealings with a college 7 years ago, yet Peyton Manning having HGH delivered to his wife gets swept under the carpet.

This right here. I have met Cam several times when he came to do community programs with the kids in my town, and he was always the nicest person who would stay and interact with every single kid there. I get really tired of people going out of their way to try and find reasons to hate a guy who is good at his job, loves doing it, and gives back to his community.
Yeah, i saw that letter thing.
That seemed like a pretty isolated incident. Has there been a lot of letters? And I don't mean like, ten or so. I'm sure there is a racial component to it, mixed in with sore losers.
Everyone thought Sherman was getting ragged on for being black, it was just that the media was painting him in that way. Once he started to get more and more press, people started to like him and the media moved away from him. Now he's as big and loud as he's always been and no one cares because he's so damn good.
My mistake. I forgot people can say racial slures towards white people and get away with it.
yes visually loud on the field. quit being fishertroll
Why does it matter if it's a QB or not? And in what way is Cam cockier/louder than Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers? Because he dances? Dancing when you score a touchdown is somehow cockier/louder than Aaron Rodgers little belt celebration?

THe choice of the word "loud" is interesting by itself. How is he loud? Is he louder than Tom Brady or Phillip Rivers? Who are constantly barking at refs/coachs/teammates? Because I've never heard them described as "loud".
I hate when people say "because he is black". Is Russell Wilson not black too? Obviously there has to be more to it.
You make some good points. Manning is an obvious cheater, yet here we are in Super Bowl week talking about Cam Newton celebrating too much, and the HGH is all but forgotten. It's a little bizarre.
Russell Wilson is Black. Russell Wilson does not carry himself like Cam Newton.
It's not just that Cam Newton is black, or successful. It's that he has the audacity to revel in the fact that he is successful while being black.
Just because stick you head under sand doesn't mean nothing is happening around you.

The most beloved New Yorker of all.Joe Namath.
Where did he post a slur?My mistake. I forgot people can say racial slures towards white people and get away with it.
isolated? Apparently the Charlotte Observer gets a lot of hate mail on Cam. Here is the latest doozy:

I've never heard anyone critical of someone like, say, Jared Allen for stuff like this:

I'm on SBNation football blogs every day talking shit in the comments sections. I use twitter mainly to shoot the shit about sports and videogames. I've seen basically none of it.
Not saying it doesn't happen, but I have no idea where it's happening and I'm not sticking my head in the sand at all.
